Modern World Warlock-Chapter 245: Dante Vs. Death Knight (Part 1)
At the underwater cave's entrance, Alice was taking two people at a time through the submerged tunnel, surfacing right next to the cliff, where Megan and Madeline were waiting to take them to safety.
As Madeline carried the people out of the water and flew them to the top of the cliff, she used magic to create a small bonfire to warm their shivering bodies since the water was freezing cold.
After Alice led another couple to the surface, Megan joined her on the way back inside the cave to help her evacuate the people.
Suddenly, while swimming through the submerged tunnel, the water turned even colder than it was before, making the two women shiver.
Coming from the other side of the tunnel, they spotted Zac, who wasn't using an oxygen tank, holding two of the captive citizens under his arms as he roughly kicked his legs in an attempt to swim.
'What is he doing!?' Alice pondered.
However, when she noticed Zac's expression that urged them to escape, Alice snapped out of her confusion and approached the redhead so that she could grab the two hostages and take them outside.
As the ex-detective held the hostages tightly under her arms, she made sure that their breathers were working and turned around to get them out of the tunnel.
Meanwhile, Megan accompanied Zac back to the cave's entrance, where a few citizens still needed to be escorted out.
*Gasp!* Zac loudly inhaled as soon as his face surfaced in the cave's entrance.
"What's happening!?" Megan inquired, getting out of the water to prepare the next batch of hostages to escort.
"I don't know. But it feels like something appeared deeper in the cave…" Zac replied.
The temperature inside the cave had drastically dropped, and since the redhead was alone with the hostages, he panicked and tried to get them out as soon as possible, which was the reason he was holding his breath and not using the oxygen tanks.
Still, Megan was aware that Zac's problem wasn't his lung capacity but his swimming skills, which utterly sucked.
Suddenly, Laurent arrived at the cave's entrance with the young couple, urging the team to leave the area quickly, saying that a Death Knight had appeared.
The redhead looked interested for a brief moment but then snapped back to reality and realized they wouldn't have time to evacuate everyone.
There were still eight hostages that needed to be escorted out through the submerged tunnel, and when Megan was about to begin swimming with two of them under her arms, Zac jumped into the water, asking another couple to hold onto him.
"Zac…" Megan commented, slightly worried.
"I got it!" the redhead replied with confidence.
Grabbing two of the terrified hostages in his arms, the redhead used the side of the tunnel to push himself with his legs like a torpedo, reaching half of the way with a single kick.
As his body halted in the middle of the tunnel, he once again used his legs to push himself forward, using the side walls and propelling himself out until he reached the open ocean.
Thankfully, the entrance to the cave wasn't severely deep, so he quickly surfaced and took a deep breath, finding Madeline waiting for the hostages.
Megan followed behind Zac at a much slower pace but still managed to get more people out of the cave.
Meanwhile, Laurent stayed at the entrance, as they didn't want to leave the remaining hostages alone, and waited for the team to return to pick them up.

After the Death Knight stabbed the ground and froze the entirety of the large cave room, Dante was able to stop the icy wave from reaching the entrance, where the hostages were waiting to get escorted out.
The brown, rocky cave looked like the inside of a glacier, and as Dante saw his cold breath escaping from his mouth, a spark of fire appeared on his hand.
"Way too cold…" Dante muttered, producing a small flame in his hands that didn't look natural.
The fire was as red as blood, with black shadows flowing from it, and when the warlock aimed his palm forward, the Death Knight raised his greatsword and blocked his front.
"Hellfire," Dante muttered, unleashing a wave of flames that traveled through the entire cave room.
When the attack reached the Death Knight, he waved his sword upwards and deflected the hellfire wave, making it explode against the ceiling.
As the stalactites fell down, the knight waved his weapon horizontally and flung the debris towards the warlock, hitting him in the head with one of the rocks that came flying from the cloud of dust.
While the smoke dissipated, a drop of blood came down Dante's forehead all the way down to his lips— licking it and grinning wickedly at the knight.
Even though Dante's opponent had an arm severed, his strikes and speed didn't lose any of their intensity, rushing at the warlock with a quick set of slashes.
When the warlock avoided one of the strikes, he slid under the Death Knight's legs and stood behind him, pointing his finger-gun at the back of his head.
"Obliterate," Dante muttered again.
Nevertheless, his opponent wouldn't fall for the same trick twice and gathered his aura at the back of his head, making Dante's spell chip away a tiny part of the armor.
"Shit…" Dante said, instantly crouching to avoid the Death Knight's counterattack as his sword sliced a single hair off his head.
Placing his hand on the knight's chest, Dante released a blast of umbra that pushed his opponent's massive frame into a wall.
"Rapture!" Dante shouted, unleashing a barrage of invisible slices aimed at the knight.
Dust and smoke rose from the area as the slashes destroyed everything around Dante indiscriminately. Still, he continued releasing more of them, knowing that his enemy could survive such an attack.
Suddenly, from the smoke, a blast of blue fire was shot straight at the warlock, who calmly took a step to the side to avoid it.
'Hmm?' Dante pondered, noticing the flame didn't have much power in it.
At that moment, his eyes widened in realization, turning back and seeing the flame hovering in the center of the room, which was getting brighter by the second.
"Oh…" Dante muttered, gritting his teeth as if he were about to suppress the pain of an attack.
