After Dante found Tanya and Dirk, the news reporter and the cameraman, he pondered what to do with them since the individuals didn't want to leave the area.

Dante knew that he could easily knock them out and fly them out of the necropolis' boundaries, but he respected their auras full of determination, so he decided against it.

"Look, I get that you are passionate about your job, but you two would have died if I hadn't arrived…" Dante explained to the duo. freeweɓnovēl.coɱ

"Then it's fate that we are alive and able to report this!" Tanya replied, turning to Dirk, who pointed the camera at the woman.

"Tanya Petrovna here. We have made it inside the closed-off area of Limsa!

As you can see, the strange black substance is covering all of our surroundings…" Tanya reported as Dirk zoomed in on the buildings in the background.

"Thankfully, a good samaritan lent us his help and gave us these magical necklaces that allow us to breathe!" Tanya continued, turning to Dante and placing the microphone close to his face.

"What's your name, sir?" Tanya asked.

"Ermm… Dante," the warlock replied with a raised eyebrow.

"And what brings you here, Mr. Dante? Are you perhaps part of the secret service?" Tanya inquired.

"No, no. They are the ones who—wait…" Dante stopped himself before finishing his sentence.

"We have no time for this!" The warlock exclaimed, realizing that he was giving an interview in the middle of the necropolis.

Dirk lowered the camera while Dante placed his palm on his face, trying to convince the duo once again to leave the necropolis. Nevertheless, it was to no avail.

"Don't you get it, Mr. Dante? Entire districts of a city have suddenly become unlivable, there are thousands of disappearances, and the government has kept everything a secret… This is the biggest story the world has seen in decades!" Tanya exclaimed.

"Once we finish recording the whole documentary, nobody will be able to stop the truth from spreading worldwide!" she continued, clearly passionate about her project.

"Yeah, see… I don't think you are supposed to let anyone know about this," Dante replied, placing a hand on his chin.

"Mr. Dante, do you not care if people are left in the dark about the events happening in their own country?" Tanya pondered.

"Well, no… I don't care. Ignorance is bliss sometimes, you know?" he replied.

"I disagree. I believe knowledge is the main factor for humans to keep growing and evolving, so I will put my life on the line to contribute to that!" Tanya refuted.

When the woman spoke, Dante could see the clear umbra around her full of unwavering determination, so he knew that there was nothing he could say that would make Tanya change her mind.

*Sigh* "Look, do whatever you want, but if the situation gets hairy, then don't expect me to save you two…" Dante commented.

Tanya smiled happily and started following the warlock around the necropolis with her companion, who kept recording the corrupted structures around them.

"By the way, I saw you coming down from the sky before you saved us. Were you using some sort of jetpack?" Tanya asked as they kept walking.

"What…?" Dante replied with confusion, but before the woman could ask again, he sensed a group of ghouls nearby and halted his steps.

"Stay back," the warlock muttered, and the duo heeded his words and didn't move from their spot.

Still, Tanya turned to Dirk and signaled him to keep recording, as she could sense that the next shot was going to be a good one.

When a small pack of eight ghouls turned to their street, the monsters gazed at them and instantly started rushing at the group.

Nonetheless, Dante pointed his arm forward and cast a "Destro" spell that blew them away in an instant, leaving nothing but a small crater on the street.

Tanya and Dirk were utterly speechless, their bodies slightly shivering from both excitement and fear. Everything around them already looked strange and out of their world, but Dante's magic was the final nail in the coffin.

When the duo shook their heads and returned to reality, Tanya glanced at her cameraman. "Did you get that?" she whispered, prompting Dirk to nod fervently.

At that moment, the ground shook for a few seconds. "An earthquake!?" Tanya pondered.

"No…" Dante replied, gazing at the distance and sensing a strong surge of magic coming from a few blocks away.

Without warning, Dante extruded his obsidian wings from his back and began flying toward the origin of the energy surge, leaving both Tanya and Dirk on the ground.

Still, the reporter and her cameraman could smell the conflict from miles away and ran as quickly as they could behind the warlock until they couldn't see him anymore.

"There's something there, Dirk. We gotta move!" Tanya exclaimed.

"Were those freaking wings!?" The cameraman asked, making Tanya smile as her story was only getting juicier.

As Dante got closer to the area, he found himself at the entrance of what seemed to be an office building. The structure had around twenty floors, but the source of the energy felt the strongest at the bottom of the tower.

Noticing that the death's ichor was covering the main door, Dante abruptly opened it with a "Destro" spell, leaving a gaping hole in the entrance and allowing a powerful stench of death to come out of the building.

Inside, he found dozens of civilians who were turned into mindless zombies, which was a side-effect for humans who failed to convert into a ghoul.

Contrary to the ghouls, zombies were much slower and weaker. Ghouls could run fast and jump high—and their attacks could kill a person with one strike. However, zombies couldn't even run, so any ordinary person had a chance to win against them.

At the back of the room, Dante sensed a strange combination of magic, and before he could deduce what it was, he felt a push that flung him out to the streets.

"Heh, Balthazar was right…" Dante muttered, raising his gaze towards the entrance, where a tall man wearing light silver armor stood tall.

"A Holy Knight turned into a Death Knight… That's quite the rare sight," he continued, clenching his fists and preparing himself.
