Chapter 374: Regroup

WINTER raised his head.

Then, much to his pleasant surprise, he saw a familiar face.

"Brother Julian?" Winter asked in disbelief. "But how?"

"I’ll explain later," Julian said, then he touched his forehead. Well, the Moon Serpent’s forehead since he was currently in that form. "And I want to let you know that I didn’t come here alone."

"...!"

[Could it be...?]

[A few moments earlier...]

"SUPREME!"

Tilly was a bit startled when Saint Forrester suddenly grabbed her by the arm.

But it was understandable since she almost stumbled to the floor.

She lost her balance when she was suddenly sent back to where she had come from after her conversation with the Black Flame.

"Are you alright, Supreme?"

"I am," Tilly said, nodding. "How about the Abyss?"

"I disappeared, but..." Saint Forrester paused, then he pointed at the small ball of dark energy floating. "That appeared in the spot where the Abyss should have been."

Oh.

[Why does it look similar to the mini Black Hole I spat out?]

<"It has the fragment of your Black Flame, Supreme.">

The one who said that was Serafina, the guardian of the Plane.

[It sounds like she wants me to take responsibility.]

But, to be fair, Tilly could instinctively tell what to do with the Second Black Hole.

[It’s mine, after all.]

"I guess I should take this with me," Tilly said, grabbing the Second Black Hole. The size of it was a perfect fit in her hand. "Now that the problem with the Abyss has been solved, can we finally leave this place?"

[My husband and my Baby Winter are waiting for me, you know?]

["IT’S SO COLD..."]

Huh?

Julian turned around when he heard Winter’s voice.

But, obviously, his brother wasn’t there.

"What’s wrong, Julian?" Solenn asked curiously. "What are you looking for?"

"I think I heard Winter’s voice," Julian said worriedly. "He said he’s cold."

"Huh? That’s weird. How can Winter feel cold when he inherited your father’s ice power? Moreover, he can also control fire. Hence, it should be easy for him to regulate his body temperature."

"That’s exactly why I’m worried, Solenn."

"Oh, touché."

"I want to get out of here and find Winter."

"Hey, I don’t think you’re in the right condition to move yet," Solenn reminded her. "Moreover, Winter is with your father. I don’t think something bad will happen to Winter when he’s with the Black Serpent."

He knew that, of course.

Even so, he was still worried.

[Winter’s trembling voice sounded like he was really, really cold.]

"And even if you wanted to go to Winter, how can you do that? We know that Winter and your father are on the floating island. But we don’t have the means to go there."

Ah, Solenn was right.

Julian’s shoulders slouched in disappointment.

[What kind of brother am I if I can’t even be there for my baby brother when he needs me the most?]

Technically speaking, Julian was the younger brother, and Winter the older brother.

He just happened to be reborn earlier than Winter in this timeline. Moreover, he wasn’t even conceived naturally.

Like a phoenix, he rose from the ashes and was reborn just like that.

[But I lived longer than Winter, so it’s not wrong for me to see him as a younger brother this time, right?]

"Julian, Solenn, get ready to leave this place."

Hmm?

Julian turned around and smiled. "Mother!"

The saint and the guardian of the Plane were following behind his mother, but he didn’t have time to greet them.

His mother smiled and greeted him with a hug. "How are you feeling, baby? I hate to make you move when you need to rest. But I believe you’d feel more comfortable if we leave the Plane right away. What do you think?"

He nodded eagerly. "I feel the same, Mother. I can’t wait to leave this place and reunite with Father and Winter."

"Did something happen while I was away?"

"I heard Winter’s voice, Mother," Julian said, reporting the most important stuff to his mother immediately. "He said he was cold, and that made me worry because Winter shouldn’t be capable of feeling cold because of his abilities."

As expected, his mother’s face darkened from worry, then she turned to Serafina with a sharp look on her face. "Since you summoned us here and we cooperated well despite our situation, I’d like it if you send us to where my husband and my second child are as quickly as possible in return."

It was an order and not a request– something that came natural for the Supreme Fire Mage even though she was facing a deity.

Julian’s heart swelled with pride.

[Mother is so cool.]

***

WINTER looked over Julian’s shoulder and was relieved to see his mother in her superhero mode again. After all, he just witnessed his mother--- with the protruding flaming black wings on her back--- saving Uncle Wixx from the weird flame that almost hit him.

Now there were two phoenixes in the gloomy sky.

His Uncle Wixx was the Red Phoenix while his mother was the Black Phoenix.

[Ah, so that’s why Uncle Wixx’s flame suddenly disappeared.]

He was disoriented when he returned to the present time.

However, he could tell that his Uncle Wixx was trying to melt the ice that froze him. As a result, the Red Phoenix’s flame also kept him warm.

But, all of a sudden, Uncle Wixx and his flame disappeared.

[Uncle Wixx was probably ambushed by an unknown force.]

"Mother is already here, Winter," Julian assured him as red flame came out of his hands. Of course, it didn’t burn him. His brother was simply melting the ice that froze his entire beastly shell. "Don’t worry, Mother will win."

Julian grinned at his brother. "I know that, Brother."

TILLY was glad that she immediately left the Plane with Julian.

Unfortunately, she wasn’t able to bring Saint Forrester and Solenn with them.

Serafina said opening a direct portal to the floating island would consume a huge amount of her power, so she could only send Tilly and Julian.

There was another option: to use an ordinary portal.

But that portal was connected to the snowy mountain below the floating island. That portal could take four to six people at once, but it would take time to reach their destination if they chose that option.

Fortunately, Saint Forrester and Solenn were understanding.

["It’s alright, Supreme. We can find our own way back. Go with Julian and save Winter and the Black Serpent."]

["Solenn is right, Supreme. We’ll be fine. And we’ll follow you as soon as we can."]

Only then did Tilly leave the Plane with Julian.

"Soleil, what are you doing here?"

Tilly, who just blocked the Hellfire for her brother, looked at Wixx direly. "You’re welcome, Brother."

Wixx rolled his eyes at her. "Thank you for saving me."

Only then did she smile at her brother. "You’re welcome."

Her smile quickly disappeared as she assessed the situation, though.

There seemed to be a wall that had collapsed, and now the debris was on fire.

Tilly could instinctively tell that the dark violet flame was the Hellfire that the Black Flame had mentioned earlier, but she ignored it for now.

She focused her attention on Kiho and...

[Is that Aku Moonchester?]

Tilly knitted her eyebrows. "Wow, the villain has leveled up."
