Mrs Hale, I Surrender-Chapter 32 - 0 Can I kiss you
Chapter 32: 032 Can I kiss you?
Chapter 32: 032 Can I kiss you?
Wyatt Hale was holding Zoe Bell leaving the private room when Zac Cruz went to settle the bill. Wyatt and Kyle Lowe walked behind them.
“Brother Kyle, do you think my brother will kill me?”
“No.”
Wyatt’s eyes lit up, “Really?”
Kyle replied, “Murder is illegal.”
“…”
“Your grandfather is newly married and has a bright future; going to prison for you isn’t worth it.”
Wyatt’s face drooped, “Brother Cruz is way cuter than you.”
“It was him who found out you brought your wife to Nightless.”
Wyatt lost it; what kind of people were around his brother!
——
Back at Larkhill, Zoe Bell took a shower first.
Not wanting Wyatt Hale to wait too long, she hurried through her shower, not even having time to blow-dry her hair. Though she had used a towel, her hair still hung half-wet over her shoulders.
“Why didn’t you dry your hair?” Wyatt Hale asked while browsing electronic files on his phone.
“I’ll do it later, you go take a shower first.”
Zoe Bell sat at the dressing table, ready to apply some cream, but Wyatt had already fetched the hair dryer from the bathroom. He plugged it in and gathered her wet hair…
With the whirring sound of the hair dryer, his fingers, accompanied by the warm breeze, gently ran through her hair.
His movements were gentle.
The warm air blowing through her hair, along with the fresh post-shower skin, gave her a light pink hue.
Their marriage was just a sham agreement, Mr. Hale was doing way too much.
He didn’t need to care about her feelings, he didn’t have to pick her up, and certainly didn’t need to blow-dry her hair…
Inwardly, Zoe’s hands on her lap slowly clenched.
When Wyatt turned off the hair dryer, she turned to him, “Mr. Hale, there aren’t any outsiders here, you don’t have to go this far.”
“Even without outsiders, we’re still husband and wife,” Wyatt said.
“I know.”
Wyatt’s gaze darkened as he stared at her.
Straightforward, eager.
That kind of scrutiny was unnerving to meet directly.
Zoe knew herself she had been ungrateful just now, he was being nice to her, she just needed to accept it.
Although they hadn’t been together long, Wyatt had given her so much.
Regardless of material or emotional value, she kept reminding herself not to let herself go, not to sink into indulgence… When she had asked Wyatt if she could hug him, Zoe’s heart pounded uncontrollably back then.
She worried about overstepping, about getting used to relying on him.
Afraid that if he ever left, she would have nothing again!
Wyatt looked at her, “Zoe…”
“Hmm?”
“Can we kiss?”
Zoe was stunned; she had already prepared herself for everything, including kissing.
Under his intense gaze, she nodded.
The next second,
she felt light, and he lifted her onto his lap.
His palm on her back, another hand rested on her waist, through the thin fabric of her clothes, she could clearly feel Wyatt’s fingers clutching her waist, a strong sensation that made her whole body tense.
She lightly bit her lip, her lashes fluttering slightly.
Wyatt’s hand moved from her back to the nape of her neck, his fingers gently caressing her hair.
As he got closer, when his breath was on her lips, she tried hard to control her erratic breathing.
The air seemed to warm, the woody scent on him becoming more intense…
Mystical and enticing.
He didn’t move, but Zoe was tortured by the intimacy, like oil cooking over a raging fire.
She felt uneasy, wanted to move away,
suddenly, her waist was confined, her whole body pressed against him.
The kiss landed lightly.
Zoe’s breath tightened, feeling the burning heat on the corner of her lips, but he didn’t go any further.
His lips were hot, soft.
When he pulled away, it seemed like he lingered, though Zoe didn’t notice.
Because her face was now blushing red, the alcohol inside her starting to have its effect, the heat on her lips lingered, spreading through her body like fire.
Wyatt looked at her, trying his best to contain his desire for her.
“Zoe, since we’re husband and wife, you should understand, I’ll do everything a couple should do, and can do, including picking you up, helping you blow-dry your hair, and…”
“Kissing you!”
Zoe mumbled a nod.
When she got off Wyatt, her legs were numb.
Wearing a nightgown, she somehow looked a bit disheveled.
While the long-respected Mr. Hale, in his well-matched shirt and trousers, appeared calm and dignified, as if kissing was just an ordinary thing for him.
Wyatt understood her worries, understood her fear,
knew she hadn’t yet figured out her own feelings, but he was willing to initiate a thousand times, move closer, and tell her:
He married her,
wanting it to last a lifetime.
“I’m going to take a shower.” Wyatt remained composed, but as he closed the bathroom door, he took a deep breath, his Adam’s apple moving, fingers slowly tightening, and turned on the shower, opting for a cold one again.
Zoe’s face was still flushed, and before she could adjust her emotions, there was a knock at the door.
Wyatt appeared holding a cup of ginger tea, “Sister-in-law, where’s my brother?”

“He’s in the shower.”
“I brought you some ginger tea, it helps with sobering up.” Wyatt lowered his voice, “Is my brother angry?”
“I don’t think so.”
“Sister-in-law, you aren’t allergic to alcohol, are you?”
“No, I’m not.”
“Then why is your face still so red?” Wyatt had picked low-alcohol drinks today, even if he’d gone wild, he wouldn’t dare get drunk in front of his brother.
Zoe didn’t know how to answer. Luckily, Wyatt didn’t linger, saying goodnight and heading back to his room.
Lying in bed, tossing and turning, he got up again, wanting to eavesdrop.
It rained that night, with the sounds of wind and rain keeping him from hearing anything else.
Probably thanks to the alcohol, Zoe fell asleep quickly, but Wyatt couldn’t sleep, so he decided to work. Opening the door…
The two of them locked eyes!
“Brother…” Wyatt’s tongue twisted, “Um, I was just passing by.”
“Did you hear anything?”
“What are you talking about, I don’t understand.”
He wanted to run, but Wyatt grabbed his collar as he closed the door, dragging him to the study.
——
In the study, Wyatt was explaining why he took his sister-in-law out.
“…It must’ve been her adoptive father, his words were so harsh, completely disregarding her feelings! I just wanted to take her out to relax. Even if she seems unaffected, she must be hurting inside.”
“No wonder Mina Bell dared to treat her that way.”
“She bullied her because she had no one backing her up.”
A dark look passed through Wyatt’s eyes.
The next morning when Zoe woke up, her head ached a bit. After washing up and heading downstairs, she heard some noise.
When she reached the living room, she was completely stunned.
In the spacious hall, there were over a dozen dresses of exquisite craftsmanship, clearly worth a fortune.
“After breakfast, try them on,” Wyatt’s voice came from behind, “I heard from Wyatt that you’re attending the Bell Family’s banquet.”
“My wife is going to battle, she definitely needs beautiful, fitting clothes.”
