Chapter 29 - 29: A Village of Dead Bones

Mito finally met Rei, as she had wanted. She was indeed a beautiful and gentle woman. However, Rei regarded herself as nothing more than a maid, her life indebted to Su Xiuyu. If he wished to take it back, she would not complain.

Mito wasn't the jealous type, but she wasn't above drawing Su Xiuyu's attention when necessary. This was her way of reminding him—subtly—that he shouldn't be too casual around other women. Fortunately, Rei was perceptive and knew how to handle the situation without making things awkward.

With the matter settled, Rei remained in charge of daily affairs, but now Mito had joined her. Surprisingly, Mito even helped with housework.

Rei was deeply grateful and had even planned to start calling Mito "Mistress." However, Mito found the title too much and insisted Rei call her by name. After much back and forth, Rei finally settled on calling her "Mito-sama."

Just as things had calmed down, Rei entered the room.

"Master Xiuyu, Master Izuna has come to inform you—the Uchiha clan meeting has been convened."

"I understand," Su Xiuyu nodded. "Rei, I'll head there right away." Then he glanced at Mito. "Are you coming with me?"

"I'll pass. It's a Uchiha clan matter, so it wouldn't be appropriate for me to attend. I'll stay here and chat with Rei," Mito replied with a shake of her head.

"Alright."

Soon, the meeting hall filled as all the Uchiha clansmen arrived. The three most prominent seats at the front were taken by Madara, Su Xiuyu, and Izuna—the undisputed strongest of the clan. No one challenged their position.

Madara stood, his sharp gaze sweeping over the gathered Uchiha.

"This war with the Senju clan is over," he stated. "What do you all think? Are we going to keep fighting the Senju forever? Will we let this blood feud continue for generations, killing and hating each other without end?"

The hall erupted in heated discussion.

"What else can we do? My father was killed by the Senju—I have to avenge him!"

"My brothers both died on the battlefield! I refuse to forget that!"

"We were born to be their enemies! Now that you're in charge, Patriarch, you have the strength to lead us to victory. Why don't we wipe them out once and for all?"

"Yes! Patriarch, let's annihilate the Senju!"

"Crush them! Leave no one alive!"

The hatred in the room burned like an uncontained wildfire.

Then, from the corner, the sound of sobbing broke through the noise. At first faint, then louder. It was a young Uchiha boy.

"Aihara, why are you crying at a clan meeting?" an elder demanded.

"I just... I just miss my brother," Aihara sniffled. "He died not long ago. He wasn't even ten years old. He never got to see the world, never got to live... At least I'm still alive."

"Aihara, your brother died a hero, fighting for the Uchiha. You should be proud!"

"I know. I am proud! But I still miss him! If I could trade places, I would! I'm not afraid of dying—but I can't stand losing him!"

Aihara's words struck deep. In this era, nearly every family had multiple siblings, yet few remained untouched by war. It wasn't uncommon for entire families to be wiped out. The Uchiha were willing to die for their clan, but what truly terrified them was losing their loved ones—watching them vanish one by one.

More and more young Uchiha started crying. Even the older ones, who remained silent, couldn't hide the grief in their eyes.

Despite their reputation for arrogance, the Uchiha loved deeply. Beneath their pride burned a fierce passion—one that burned the brightest for their families, their brothers, their children.

Su Xiuyu exchanged a glance with Madara and Izuna. They instantly understood his unspoken message.

Madara stepped forward. His voice carried across the hall.

"My people, I understand your pain. My father, Tajima, died at the hands of the Senju. Like all of you, I have lost family. That's why I have always dreamed of building something greater—a place where we no longer have to live in constant war and suffering."

The clansmen looked up at their nearly unmatched leader, uncertain of his meaning.

"Is the Patriarch saying we should create our own village? Like the Uzumaki have?" one Uchiha asked. "But what good would that do? We'd still be at war—with the Senju, the Kaguya, the Shimura..."

"No," Su Xiuyu cut in. "What Madara means is that we join forces with the Senju and build a new village together. If the Uchiha and Senju unite, we can bring an end to the Warring States era. After all, no clan in the Land of Fire is stronger than us. Together, we could dominate the entire region."

His words sent shockwaves through the clan.

For centuries, the Uchiha and Senju had been locked in a vicious cycle of bloodshed. And now they were being asked to consider an alliance?

At first, there was stunned silence. Then chaos erupted.

"Impossible! Never! I'd rather die than join forces with them!"

"I will never forgive the Senju for what they did to my family!"

"My father and brother died by their hands! How can you ask us to forget? I only want revenge!"

"Quiet!" Su Xiuyu's voice cut through the shouting. "This is just a suggestion! There's no need to lose your heads over it!" He turned his gaze toward Madara. "Besides, do you really think our Patriarch is unaffected by this? The former leader, Tajima, was killed by the Senju. Several of Madara's own brothers were taken from him in this war. Do you think he doesn't understand your grief? If anything, he understands it better than any of you—because he has suffered the same loss."

The hall fell into a tense silence once more. Only the soft sound of muffled sobs could be heard.

Madara's eyes burned with conviction as he looked over his people.

"You all heard me," he said, his voice unwavering. "As your leader, I want to guide our clan toward a future where we are safe. A future where our children do not have to march onto the battlefield before they even understand what life is. None of you want to see your sons and daughters fall in war, do you?"

Silence.

Then, with all the power and authority of the legendary Uchiha Madara, he declared—

"And now, we have the strength to make that future a reality! I will lead us into a new era!"

At his words, the air in the room trembled. Then, before their eyes, Susanoo manifested—its enormous, armored form towering over the meeting hall, radiating overwhelming power.

Awe swept through the room.

"Patriarch!"

"Patriarch!"

"Patriarch!"

Any lingering doubt had been crushed beneath the weight of Madara's might. In this war against the Senju, he had proven beyond all doubt that he was the rightful leader of the Uchiha. The legendary warrior who would lead them into the future.

And the Uchiha, for all their fire and passion, were ready to follow.

----

"My fellow clansmen, you must believe in the power of the Uchiha! In my eyes reside both the spirit of peace and the force of destruction!" Madara's voice echoed through the gathering. "Izuna, show them! Let them see with their own eyes so that they never doubt again!"

Without hesitation, Izuna stepped forward. A massive Susanoo materialized around him, its form still in its first stage. "Elder brother, trust me," he said firmly. "We are not far from achieving peace."

Seeing Izuna's Susanoo, the Uchiha clansmen's confidence soared. Some even began to believe that the Uchiha alone could bring order to the Land of Fire.

Madara then turned to the gathered crowd, his sharp gaze cutting through the rain. "And we also have Uchiha Xiu Yu—who is just as powerful as I am! With our combined strength, we can join forces with the Senju and put an end to this damned chaos!"

A hush fell over the crowd. Madara's words carried a weight they couldn't ignore.

"When this war is over, we will no longer be forced to wander from battlefield to battlefield. Our children, our parents, our brothers—none of them will have to shed blood just to survive. Think about it! This chaos will end at our hands!"

His words struck deep. That night, many Uchiha families lay awake, their minds racing with possibilities.

---

Inside a dimly lit hall, Xiu Yu leaned against a pillar, watching Madara pace restlessly.

"Madara, don't be too anxious," Xiu Yu said. "The divide between the Uchiha and the Senju is too deep. A single meeting isn't going to erase generations of hatred. It's unrealistic to think they'll just set aside their grievances and form an alliance overnight."

Madara clenched his fists but said nothing. He wasn't the same Madara who had been deceived by Black Zetsu in another timeline. He still believed in the Uchiha clan's future. Izuna, sensing his brother's frustration, stepped in. "We'll find a way," he reassured him. "We always do."

After a moment of silence, Xiu Yu smirked. "Actually, I think the Uchiha need an outlet first. They've been holding back too much anger. We might not be ready to unite with the Senju just yet, but we can start making moves."

Madara turned to him. "What do you suggest?"

"Let's settle an old score—with the Kaguya clan."

Madara and Izuna exchanged glances. It made sense. The Uchiha needed a decisive battle to reinforce their dominance.

The Kaguya clan had no idea what was coming for them.

Xiu Yu let out a sigh. Sorry, but even if I hadn't suggested this, the Uchiha's grudge against Kaguya Itabashi wouldn't have faded. If you want to blame someone, blame yourselves.

---

After two days of preparation, Madara led a small elite force deep into Kaguya territory. Only a few dozen warriors accompanied them—not for lack of strength but to limit casualties.

This was a surgical strike.

Besides, with Madara, Izuna, and Xiu Yu on the battlefield, there was no need for an army. The main reason for bringing the others was to give them firsthand experience—so they could witness true power.

According to intelligence from the Tsuchigumo clan, the Kaguya lived in a remote village in the Land of Fire. Their unique appearance and attire made them easy to identify.

As the Uchiha force approached the settlement, Madara and Izuna stepped forward. Their hands flew through a series of seals.

"Fire Style: Great Fire Annihilation!"

A sea of flames roared forward, lighting up the night sky.

"Enemy attack!" Kaguya Itabashi, one of the clan's leaders, was the first to react. His voice rang through the village.

Before the Kaguya could mount a proper defense, Madara stormed into the center of the settlement, his laughter ringing through the chaos. "Kaguya Itabashi, how have you been? Did you enjoy the little gift you left my sister, Uchiha Chisato? She's still recovering, by the way. Now, are you ready to die?"

Itabashi's eyes narrowed as he got a good look at Madara. "Isn't this the brat from the Uchiha clan?" He scoffed. "Where's Tajima? You're no match for me. Let your father come out!"

Madara smirked, his Sharingan glinting under the rain. "Hmph, I'll send you to hell today. As for my father, you won't live long enough to see him again!"

Kaguya Itabashi's eyes burned with rage. "Brat! Corpse Bone Vein – Ten Bone Piercing Bullets!"

Sharp bone projectiles shot toward Madara at high speed, but he raised his Uchiha fan effortlessly, deflecting them with ease. "Tch. Just rubble. You're not even close to being a match for me."

Madara's arrogance only fueled Itabashi's fury. Gritting his teeth, he launched another attack. "Corpse Bone Vein – Dance of the Wire Flower!"

Madara barely had time to react before he was blasted backward, his fan absorbing most of the impact. He skidded across the battlefield, dust filling the air around him.

"You little brat," Itabashi sneered. "You think you can challenge me with that pathetic strength? The Kaguya clan is the strongest!"

Madara wiped the dirt from his mouth, his smirk never fading. "Tsk. Pah." He spat out the dust and rose to his feet.

"Susanoo!"

A massive skeletal arm burst forth, grabbing Kaguya Itabashi in its grasp.

"This is the true power of the Uchiha clan," Madara declared coldly. "Consider it an honor to die at Susanoo's hands. When you reach hell, tell your clansmen about the greatness of the Uchiha!"

The giant hand tightened its grip, trying to crush Itabashi. But something resisted.

Madara frowned. "Oh? So your Corpse Bone Vein can even block Susanoo's grip? I'll admit, that's mildly impressive." He scoffed. "I take back what I said earlier—you're barely stronger than a grain of sand."

Dense bones erupted from Itabashi's body, forcing Susanoo's hand open. The pressure cracked the skeletal fingers of the incomplete Susanoo. Itabashi dropped to the ground, coughing up mouthfuls of blood.

Despite his injuries, he forced himself to his feet. His breathing was labored, but his voice remained strong. "All Kaguya clansmen, listen up!" he bellowed. "Break out immediately! No matter your age—if you can escape, run! Leave the Land of Fire! Flee to other countries, head for the sea—just get away from here!"

For generations, the Kaguya clan had thrived on battle. But tonight, they stood at the brink of extinction.

"All Kaguya elders," Itabashi commanded, his voice resolute, "let's show these Uchiha bastards the last bit of courage we have left!"

He knew this was the end. He could only buy time for his people to escape.

If anyone asked whether he regretted attacking the Uchiha, his answer would remain the same—never. The Kaguya clan lived for battle. They never regretted fighting.

But even the most bloodthirsty warriors knew when they were outmatched.

"This is the last of our bloodline," Itabashi murmured as he and the remaining Kaguya elders stood together, preparing for their final stand.

"Uchiha clansmen, fall back now!" Izuna ordered sharply. "Be cautious—these Kaguya dogs are making their last stand!"

Then, in unison, Itabashi and the Kaguya elders unleashed their strongest technique.

"Corpse Bone Vein – Dance of the Early Ferns!"

Eight of them activated the ability at once.

A massive forest of sharp bones erupted from the ground, spreading like wildfire in all directions. Towering spikes impaled everything in their path, devouring the battlefield with lethal precision. The scale of destruction rivaled Senju Hashirama's Tree World Descent, and its killing potential was even greater.

The elders poured every last ounce of their chakra into the technique. The forest of bones continued to grow, swallowing the land and wiping out anything in its way—including the unfortunate Kaguya who hadn't escaped in time.

Kaguya Itabashi let out a bitter laugh. "Even if you have that giant protecting you, your Uchiha clansmen won't escape in time. They'll die in the Dance of the Early Ferns. Hahaha! Madara, I won't be alone in hell. Your people will be coming with me!"

His vision blurred. His body was on the verge of collapse. When this bone forest reached its peak, he and the other elders would die with it.

Madara remained unfazed. He crossed his arms, watching Itabashi with the same mocking smirk.

"Oh?" he mused. "And why do you think anything will happen to my people?"

Itabashi's face twisted in rage. "Impossible! The range of the Dance of the Early Ferns is massive! There's no way your people had time to escape!"

Boom!

Two colossal figures emerged in the distance.

One was another chakra giant—Izuna's Susanoo. The other was a towering rock construct. In their massive hands were the surviving Uchiha clansmen, safely lifted out of the bone forest.

Itabashi's heart sank. He coughed up another mouthful of blood. "I never thought... after fighting Uchiha Tajima for years... I would die at the hands of his son. Without even a chance to resist." He laughed bitterly.

"Dance of the Early Ferns!"

With the last of their chakra, Itabashi and the Kaguya elders forced the bone forest to expand further, covering the entire Kaguya settlement. The deadly thorns reached skyward, piercing the heavens.

Their bodies trembled. Their chakra reserves were empty. They had given everything.

At least... they had saved some of their people.

Itabashi exhaled a final breath.

"May our bloodline live on... beyond the sea..."

His eyes closed. His body collapsed.

One by one, the Kaguya elders fell beside him, their lives extinguished.

The once-feared Kaguya clan was no more.
