Mushoku Tensei: Reincarnated as a Beast Race-Chapter 170 - History Written by Individuals
Chapter 170 - 170 - History Written by Individuals
How powerful does someone need to be to wander freely across the world?
This has been a question asked by many people over the tens—or hundreds—of thousands of years since the world of Six Faces began to exist.
Even after the First Dragon God led a war against the other worlds, and eventually had his own world destroyed by the Human God, giving rise to a single amalgamated world... this question remained unanswered.
It depended greatly on each individual's circumstances.
The Immortal Demon King Badigadi could roam the lands relying on his immortality.
The elven mage Verdia Solarion could travel carefreely trusting in her foresight of the future.
There was even a certain monkey man who could walk the entire world following the advice of a god—even though he was very weak.
That is to say, in this era, strength, though a crucial factor, was still deeply affected by strange and unpredictable abilities that were born and manifested in this magical world.
There were immortal races. Races capable of dominating the minds of their opponents. Races that flew freely through the skies.
And, likewise, there existed the Blessed Children and the Cursed Children—children touched by forces that even the greatest sages could not fully comprehend.
There were beings who inherited the Laplace Factor. There were those born inexplicably with absurd talents, great courage, or transcendental beauty.
All facets of life and abilities were included. And everyone, without exception, was born with a certain fate.
The strength of one's destiny influenced their life in every imaginable way. With a powerful destiny, it was possible to break the shackles of an ordinary life and become a true powerhouse.
But destiny... was something unpredictable. And, above all, it was constantly changing.
In this world, there was no correct future. There was no fixed and unbreakable timeline.
Various abilities defied the logic and physics of the world: demon eyes that interacted with the future, magics capable of slowing the flow of time, and even teleportation—all of this effectively scrambled the idea of a single stable temporal flow.
In the last sixteen years of the World of Six Faces, the world changed in unpredictable, chaotic... and grand ways.
Because several of these factors interacted at the same time, history changed. Destinies collided. And new forces emerged from the shadows and the ashes.
In the last two decades, three great events served as catalysts for unprecedented changes in the world of Six Faces: the birth of Rygar Adoldia, the birth of Rudeus Greyrat, and the Teleportation Incident that brought Nanahoshi Shizuka to this world.
The birth of Rudeus Greyrat, although important, did not have a large-scale impact.
Until he was seven years old, the changes caused by his actions were limited to a small village in the Fitoa region.
He met a few figures who would become relevant in the future, or whose descendants would leave important marks, but, actively, he lived a relatively carefree childhood.
It was only after being teleported to the Begaritt Continent that his actions began to diverge more intensely from the normal flow of destiny, albeit restricted to a small group.
When the North Emperor Larax was killed, Rudeus's actions began to resonate more strongly, especially after the journey through Milis and the vast lands of the Demonic Continent.
The Teleportation Incident, due to its gigantic scale and unpredictable nature, shook many certainties of destiny.
Families were separated, cities disappeared, and alliances were forged or destroyed by chaotic events that nobody had planned.
Still, even such calamity paled in comparison to a singular factor in terms of impact on the world: the birth of Rygar Adoldia.
Rygar was the first child of Selene Adoldia and Hontar Adoldia.
Originally, because he carried an extremely powerful Laplace Factor within him, he should have been stillborn—a common fate for those who inherited such intense powers.
The body of a newborn soul generally could not withstand such a magical burden, especially in Rygar's case, as he was born with innate demon eyes.
But he lived. Because a soul from another world had been reincarnated in the child's body, Rygar survived.
Everyone around him, especially Verdia Solarion, always saw something different in that child.
Over time, it became clear that that beast boy was a storm in the making, and his winds and thunders would sweep the world with a force destiny could not contain.
Rygar's interference completely altered the life courses of countless people, especially on the continent of Milis.
His magical eyes allowed him to identify early on who among his generation carried the greatest hidden talents. Among the outstanding were:
Taes Dedoldia, owner of impressive brute strength and latent magical talent;
Kilian Dedoldia, also strong physically, but with a sharp intellect and remarkable aptitude for magic and strategy;
Lisena Adoldia, possessing an incomparable magical affinity among the tribe's youth;
Linia and Pursena, daughters of the chiefs of the Doldia tribes, still young but with great leadership potential and strength.
Without Rygar's interference, these children's destinies would have been far more limited.
Taes would have become the strongest warrior of his generation in the Great Forest, reaching the top of the advanced level, but without proper instruction or moral guidance, he would never have gone beyond that.
Kilian, in turn, would have stood out for his strategic mind and the Howling Magic of the beast race, but he would not have opportunities to truly ascend.
Lisena, perhaps with the most tragic future of all, would have become an adventurer at fifteen and learned magic with a teammate, only for her entire group to be massacred by a horde of monsters south of Milis.
All possessed great potential. But potential without opportunity, guidance, or the fire of will often dies before it can bloom.
All this was changed by Rygar Adoldia. These were just examples of his direct influence. His indirect influence was even more far-reaching and profound.
Guided by an extraordinary leader, communities around him tended to want to follow him.
Under a modified destiny, youths who had once been destined for slavery, early death, or an ordinary life wasting their talents were forced to act.
The Great Forest was moving, and those who did not keep pace would be left behind—or crushed by the progress of those advancing.
Humans, demons, and other races freed by the Iron Legion also began to find new opportunities.
Evidently, the Legion's reach was not yet capable of fully harnessing the potential of everyone, but it had undoubtedly multiplied many times over the strength the Great Forest could manifest.
Rygar's influence was so sudden and vast that it even moved the great powers currently ruling the world of Six Faces.
The Holy Nation of Milis, for example, guided by a mix of fear, religious fanaticism, apprehension of the unknown, and racial prejudice, ended up entering into direct conflict with the Iron Legion.
Territories until then neutral or disconnected, such as the domains of dwarves, hobbits, and elves, ended up allying with the Legion.
Even the Dragon King's Realm, traditionally isolationist and pragmatic, formed an alliance with this new rising force.
This conflict with Milis was, probably, the greatest armed conflict since the times of the War in the Conflict Zone, on the Central Continent—and perhaps even fiercer, since it was just two sides facing each other directly, without multiple factions or court intrigues.
It was an open war between an ascending Organization and a very ancient Kingdom.
Still, as much as the Iron Legion had promoted deep social and structural changes in the Great Forest and its surroundings, that was not enough to face head-on the conventional war might and magic of the Holy Nation of Milis completely.
Milis outclassed them in almost every aspect of conventional warfare: low-tier troops, intermediate forces, elites.
Even the magic employed by the Milisian armies was superior—ancient magical circles honed over centuries, containment barriers with sacred effects, healing techniques that could restore limbs or purify poisons.
All that, combined with the unique powers of the two 'Mikos', made Milis an almost unbeatable force in direct combat.
The normal soldiers were, for the most part, at Intermediate level. Most platoon commanders were at Advanced level, and there were many Saints scattered among their ranks.
In this world, anyone with great motivation and some talent could reach the Saint level.
But to go beyond—to reach the King, Emperor, or God level—the requirements became much more stringent.
It required more than effort: innate talent, obsession, or a balanced combination of both.
Even among the most influential countries, King-level warriors or higher were scarce.
Milis counted with only about ten of them spread across its noble houses, military factions, and church orders.
Of these, only one was considered a true God-level: Galgard Nash Venick—the strongest man in the Holy Nation.
That is not to mention the Priests and Mages capable of using magics that could change the course of a battle with the mere activation of a barrier.
And that was why Milis's crusade advanced so easily at the beginning. Village after village, frontier after frontier, the advance was constant, methodical, and brutal.
This continued until they reached the edge of the Great Forest and came face to face with the Stone Fortress in Tinaver.
Although Milis outmatched its opponents, it no longer did so with the ease of ten years before.
The superiority that was once overwhelming now balanced out in more heated confrontations.
This was because, over time, various powerful individuals emerged within the Legion, rising as pillars against Milis's advances.
Fighters who mastered magic, sword, and tactics, forged in the fire of battles and guided by the inspiring leadership of Rygar Adoldia and his allies.
Because of this, invading the Great Forest was a task that Milis could not accomplish in a short period of time.
Although Milis was not inexperienced in incursions into this territory, it faced serious difficulties crossing its borders.
The ambushes, the treacherous terrain, the wild creatures, and now the defenses erected by the Legion made every step a hard-won achievement.
Even with more numerous and well-equipped troops, with support magics, magical circles, and Saints among their ranks, Milis advanced cautiously and faced resistance at every new step.
But this stalemate, which kept the war in a state of controlled attrition, was on the verge of breaking.
Since Milis learned that the Sixth World Power had been replaced—and that now the Beast God occupied that place—their offensive gained new vigor.
Their assaults became more regular, more organized, and more violent. It was evident: they wanted to win this war before Rygar Adoldia's return.
Despite this, Milis's higher echelons did not appear to fear Rygar at all.
There was no terror, no hesitation. There was confidence. An unsettling and enigmatic confidence, as if they had a plan, a trump card, something that made them believe they could deal with the Beast God.
This cold, calculated assurance caused many in the Legion to question what was really behind Milis's maneuvers.
And so, with days turning into weeks, and weeks into months, the war intensified.
The clashes multiplied, blood was shed, and the sky over the Great Forest darkened with the smoke of battle. Something grand was coming—all could feel it. The Legion prepared. Milis advanced. And the storm on the horizon only grew.
