MY 10,000× DIMENSIONAL SYSTEM-Chapter 241: The Mythborn Prodigy III
The Mythborn Prodigy III
Moving on, Titus then checked out the second path tier.
Path Tier 2 – Trial of the Self
Unlocked by: Winning a duel while significantly outmatched, and forging a personal technique.
Skill — Blade Imprint (Passive)
Every time Titus is struck by a sword technique, there's a chance to record and adapt to its rhythm. Over time, these imprints evolve into insights or counters.
(+20% resistance against repeated techniques; chance to replicate the form temporarily.)
Ability — Myth Echo (Active)
Titus can create a phantom echo of a mastered movement technique, creating a brief after-image or clone that mimics the attack.
(Scales with Willpower and Agility; cooldown: 90 seconds)
Titus was a bit thrown off by the requirement to unlock this tier. He understood the second part well enough. If creating one's own technique was so simple then everyone would be doing it. At the very least, it would be more difficult than learning three already created techniques, advanced or not.
However, the act of winning against an opponent who significantly outmatched him, wasn't that just the same thing as surviving against three opponents? Just that it was one instead of three?
'Oh, wait I'm dumb.' He facepalmed. He looked at the first tier again.
'It says survive against three stronger opponents, not defeat them. In this case, I actually have to win, that's the difference.' He realized, but that also begged the question.
'What happens if I win against the three foes trying to kill me? Does the achievement get carried over or does it reset? If it's the latter then how much stronger must the foe be than me before defeating them counts?' He didn't have an answer, and the System told him he'd figure it out himself. So he decided not to dwell on it and focus on the traits that came with the path.
Blade Imprint was relatively easy to understand, and it was quite similar to reflex bloom, at least, he thought it did. However, the key difference was that it focused heavily on sword techniques, which meant that even after unlocking it, it wouldn't be too useful if he was fighting someone or something that didn't use a sword.
However, the +20% resistance against repeated techniques seemed to encompass all things and not just sword techniques, so it was always welcome.
'Moreover, I can use it to spar with Master. That would be an easy way to learn three advanced techniques.' He smiled to himself before focusing on the other trait.
When heread through the Myth Echo trait, he became thoughtful. If he was being honest, he didn't really understand how it worked.
'System, can you give me a breakdown?' He asked.
[Certainly. Myth Echo allows you to generate a phantom echo of a single movement technique you have mastered. Upon activation, an ephemeral after-image of yourself will appear and mimic the technique.
Keep in mind, these echoes are not sentient and will vanish from 0.5 to 2 seconds after activation. They cannot improvise or strategize,
they exist merely as a repeat of what has been etched into your muscle memory.
As for its possible applications, they can act as good damage options, feints, or distractions. For example, say you slash your sword and your opponent blocks. The instant they block, you may activate the ability and generate an Echo which strikes with a technique you've learned, whether from the same angle or another, creating hard to predict combos.] When it finished, Titus felt his eyes widen slightly with realisation.
'That's interesting, so it's like that huh?' He thought while rubbing his chin, his mind already spinning with different possibilities on how to use the skill. However, he quickly rid himself of those thoughts.
'Let me unlock the trait first before I think about how to use it.' He chided himself before finally focusing on the last path tier, Prodigy Ascendant.
Path Tier 3 – Prodigy Ascendant
Unlocked by: Mastering a unique sword style and defeating an enemy above Apex class.
Trait — Conceptual Synchrony (Passive)
Once per fight, instantly comprehend and adapt to an unfamiliar conceptual or elemental attack.
(Massively boosts survival chances against unknown techniques.)
Ability — Ascendant Breakthrough (Active, once per day)
When cornered or at the brink of defeat, Titus can channel everything he's learned into a single transcendent strike. This move adapts its nature based on Titus's opponent and current battle context.
(Requires 50% Ambrosia or full mana. Cannot be interrupted.)
Titus looked at the requirements to unlock this tier and he had to do a double take.
'Defeat an enemy above the Apex rank???' That mean Sovereigns and above, h
was still just a Quasi-Apex rank!
'The traits better be worth it.' He grumbled and looked at the first trait, Conceptual Synchrony.
When he read it over, he paused, then he read it over again and nodded.
'I might just dedicate a good but of my time to defeating a Sovereign.' He thought before the shock finally caught up.
The implications of this skill were simply huge. To instantly comprehend and adapt to any technique as long as it was so.ething he'd never seen before could only be described as shocking.
Moreover, there didn't seem to be a clear limit on how high the technique coukd be before he was unable to use this skill on it. Then again, Titus doubted he could adapt to every mover in existence with this skill as long as he hadn't seen it before, but considering he needed ro defeat a Sovereign and above before he could unlock that tier of the path, he guessed he would be able to adapt and comprehend some pretty high level techniques.
Not to mention, it was Passive, so that meant it took no energy to use. The only thing was that he could only do it once during a fight, so that meant he had to be strategic with its use and not accidentally adapt to some half-baked technique his opponent had. Still, it was an incredible co kept, and that only made him more excited to progress in his path.
After calming down enough, he looked at the second and final skil offered by this path.
Ascendant Breakthrough was a Trump Card in every sense of the word. The fact he could only use it when he was pushed into a corner and on the brink of defeat solidified this fact.
But when he read it's description, he started to understand why this path placedso much emphasis on learning and creating techniques. It said that he'd channel all that he'd learned into a single strike one that would adapt its nature depending on his opponent and the context on the battle. He assumed that second part meant what type of battle it was,but he couldn't be sure.
Anyway, I only made sense that for an attack which was borne of all his techniques, he'd need to learn and develop some high tier techniques to add to his repertoire, allowing The strike the capacity to adapt.
Techniques weren't the same, and more often than not, some techniques were developed specifically to counter other techniques, like how there are shield techniques meant to defend against sword techniques, and vice versa.
By expanding his repertoire, he was making it so that using this skill could actually be possible.
And when he thought about it, he realized that calling it a skill tree was indeed fitting. The actions he needed to perform to progress to the next path tier and the traits they offered were the foundation for the next path tier and traits.
Not only was he strengthening his foundation, he was also paving the way to achieve more things. That's why he didn't instantly get these new skills besides the ones granted by the initiation path tier.
As they say, to gain something, you must give something. There would be no basis or platform for the skills to be used, so he was creating the platform himself, with the system acting as a guide.
He felt Enlightened by all of this, so much so that he had the sudden urge yo go and train himself. Both to test the new skills he'd gained and get started on progressing through his path.
One way or the other, he was going to make good use of everything he'd gained.
Within his room, Christopher observed everything. The reactions of his people to getting their systems and their subsequent choices on what System path to choose, followed by them deciding on the paths granted, and those who didn't have paths available were suddenly spurred to earn titles and achievements to bolster their records and gain proper paths.
Many started forming parties with each other, some even managed to trigger missions and started working on that. In just a short amount of time, the Primordial Expanse was buzzing with activity as everyone went out and about to improve themselves through their systems.
'I'd say that went pretty well.' Christopher thought to himself. ƒrēewebnoѵёl.cσm
'Next on my agenda is to sleep, and then deal with the clans.'
