My Antique Mirror Is A Portal To Another World-Chapter 25: The Burning City
Chapter 25: The Burning City
Once Feng Yi was gone, Feng Xiyan entered the command tent. Standing before the altar, he looked into the mirror and clasped his fists.
He bowed and then said, "Fairy Bai, Xiyan begs for your help."
As soon as he said that, the mirror immediately glowed with a bright light.
On the other side, Bai Hanyun was sitting on the couch, staring at the jade pendant, when Feng Xiyan’s voice suddenly echoed through the living room.
The moment she heard him, she stood up and rushed to the display cabinet. Looking into the antique mirror, she saw Feng Xiyan covered in dust and urgently asked, "What happened?"
Feng Xiyan’s eyes lit up upon hearing her voice. He quickly replied, "Xiqiang City is under attack by 200,000 Yuezhi Tribe troops. They also sent 500 elite soldiers to infiltrate the city, killing citizens and setting fires."
"Because of the high temperature, lack of water, and dry air, the fire is spreading rapidly, and we have no way to control it."
After explaining the situation, Feng Xiyan knelt down and added, "Xiyan begs Fairy Bai to send more water to extinguish the fire."
Bai Hanyun’s mind raced as she asked, "Did they set the fires using oil?"
With the air thick with smoke and the smell of oil, Feng Xiyan wasn’t sure if Lai Ka had used oil to set the city on fire.
Shaking his head, he replied, "I’m not sure. We are using oil and fire to defend the city walls, so the air is already filled with smoke and the scent of oil. For now, we tried to put out the fire using sand."
Hearing this, Bai Hanyun frowned and thought, ’Using sand to put out a fire is a good idea, but it won’t be very effective if the fire is too intense.’
She pondered for a second and then said, "I’m going to buy fire extinguishers. Feng Xiyan, can you hold on for ten minutes?"
Feng Xiyan didn’t know how long "ten minutes" was, but he trusted her completely. He nodded and replied, "Xiyan will try my best."
"Good. Please stay alive until I return."
Without waiting for a response, Bai Hanyun grabbed her car keys and dashed out the door.
Seeing the light on the mirror surface disappear, Feng Xiyan stood up and left the tent to help control the fire.
While the Feng Army was doing their best to defend Xiqiang City, Bai Hanyun drove to a hardware store. Since it was already nighttime, only one store was still open.
Parking her car in front of the store, Bai Hanyun hurried inside and walked up to the counter. Seeing the staff dozing off, she knocked on the counter to wake him.
Noticing a customer, the staff yawned and glanced at her empty hands. He frowned slightly and said, "Miss, you can take what you want and pay here."
Before he could close his eyes again, Bai Hanyun quickly said, "I want to buy fire extinguishers."
Assuming she hadn’t found them, the staff pointed toward one of the aisles and said, "You can find them over there."
Not wanting to waste time, Bai Hanyun grabbed a trolley and rushed over.
Only five fire extinguishers were on the shelves. She took them all and pushed the trolley back to the counter.
The staff opened his eyes and raised his brows slightly when he saw her cart full of fire extinguishers. "Miss, is your house on fire?" he joked.
Bai Hanyun nodded and replied, "Yes. Do you have more? I want all of them."
Stunned by her response, the staff paused for a moment before quickly saying, "Yes, yes. I will get them for you."
He pushed a trolley toward the back area, and Bai Hanyun followed with hers.
Opening the warehouse door, the staff hurried to the rack where the fire extinguishers were stored. As he began loading his trolley, Bai Hanyun joined in, quickly filling hers as well.
They worked together, moving back and forth a few times until all the fire extinguishers were brought to the counter.
As the staff began checking them out, he asked, "Can you transport them yourself?"
Since Bai Hanyun’s car wasn’t big enough, she replied, "Can you help me? I will pay for your help."
Nighttime usually meant fewer customers, so the offer of extra pay made the staff readily agree. "Sure."
After paying for the fire extinguishers, the two of them loaded them into the truck. Before leaving, the staff locked the store and said, "Miss, please lead the way."
Bai Hanyun nodded, got into her car, and led the way. Soon, the car and truck sped back to the countryside.
By the time she paid the staff and locked her front gate, the situation in Xiqiang City had spiraled out of control.
She rushed into the living room, grabbed the antique mirror, and ran to the front yard. Without wasting any more time, she sent the fire extinguishers to Feng Xiyan.
Dong! Dong! Dong!
The fire extinguishers hit the ground with loud thuds, catching the attention of the guarding soldiers outside.
One of the soldiers rushed into the tent. The moment he saw the unfamiliar red cylinders on the ground, his eyes lit up with excitement.
He quickly ran out and shouted, "Go and call the Great General! Fairy Bai has sent something!"
Hearing this, another soldier sprinted toward the city wall. Climbing the stairs, he gasped for breath as he shouted, "G–Great General! Fairy Bai just sent something!"
The moment Feng Xiyan and Xue Ruhong heard this, their eyes lit up. Feng Xiyan rushed down the stairs, calling out, "General Xue, please hold the line!"
As Feng Xiyan ran off, Xue Ruhong turned to assess the battlefield below.
With Ding Zhenshun and Fan Wanming defending the city gate, they had managed to hold on so far, but sheer determination couldn’t make up for the difference in numbers between the Feng Army and the Yuezhi Tribe.
They need a miracle to win!
A few minutes later, Feng Xiyan stepped into the commander’s tent. Spotting the red fire extinguishers by the side, he quickly walked up to the altar and clasped his fists.
Bowing slightly, he asked, "Fairy Bai, what are these?"
