My Baby Daddy Isn't Human-Chapter 99: Warm & Nice
Raelynn stirred in bed, her body aching as she fought to open her eyes. She tried to piece things together... Oh, right. She’d eaten Hera’s porridge, taken her meds, and she’d gone straight to sleep.

She blinked a few times, adjusting to the bright light in the room. It took her a moment to notice Elion, seated by her bedside, reading something on his phone.
The sight was so foreign to her that for a moment, she wondered if she was still dreaming.
"You’re awake," Elion said. He set his phone down immediately and leaned closer, his piercing gaze scanning her face. "How do you feel?"
Raelynn’s lips twitched into a faint smile. "Like a sack of bricks... but lighter than before."
Elion’s exhale was faint but carried a hint of amusement. "You’re terrible at describing how you feel."
She let out a weak laugh but instantly regretted it when it triggered a cough. Without a word, Elion got up and filled a glass of water. He sat on the edge of the bed and slipped an arm behind her shoulders, carefully lifting her so she could drink.
"Small sips," he instructed, holding the glass to her lips.
She took small sips of the water, grateful as it calmed the dryness in her throat. It struck her how calm his movements were, how near he stayed, and how his touch was firm but gentle.
When he eased her back down, she sighed softly. "You don’t have to stay with me, you know. I’m used to handling this on my own."
Elion’s brow furrowed slightly. "Handling what on your own?"
"Being sick," she murmured. "No one’s ever... stayed. It’s usually just me."
His frown deepened, and for a moment, he didn’t say anything. His voice softened as he murmured, "You’re not alone this time."
Raelynn turned her head, feeling flustered by the sudden warmth spreading inside her. It was strange, having someone fuss over her. Even weirder, it was him of all people.
Elion moved to the bedside table and uncovered a bowl of soup. He brought it closer and picked up the spoon, scooping up a small amount. "Come on," he said, holding it toward her.
Raelynn blinked at him. "Are you... spoon-feeding me now?"
"Yes," he said simply, as though it was the most natural thing in the world.
"I’m not a child, you know," she protested, though her voice lacked its usual strength.
"And yet you can barely sit up without help. Now, open your mouth."
Raelynn rolled her eyes but complied, taking the first spoonful. The soup was warm and savory, comforting in a way she hadn’t expected.
As he fed her, she couldn’t help but watch him. The way his hand moved with care, how his eyes remained focused on her as if she were the only thing that mattered. It was unnerving, but also... nice.
Once the bowl was cleared, Elion handed her the medicine, staying calm even as she made a face at the taste.
"You’re surprisingly good at this," she muttered, settling back into the pillows.
"I’ve had practice," he replied vaguely, adjusting her blanket.
Raelynn raised an eyebrow. "With who? Your girlfriend?"
Elion let out a sigh, choosing not to respond.
The day passed in a quiet rhythm. Every time she opened her eyes, Elion was there—either reading, scrolling through his phone, or just sitting quietly. He helped her drink water, made sure she ate small meals, and never let her lift a finger.
As night fell, the room grew cooler. Raelynn shivered under the blankets, her teeth almost chattering.
"It’s cold," she murmured, pulling the blanket closer around her shoulders.
Elion stood up quickly and switched off the air conditioner with one click, but when Raelynn still shivered, his brows furrowed in concern. "I’ll get another blanket," he said, leaving the room without waiting for her reply.
He returned minutes later, carrying two thick blankets. He spread the blankets over her, making sure to tuck them in securely. "Better?" he asked.
Raelynn shifted, trying to get comfortable. "Still cold," she admitted, her voice small.
Elion sighed, sitting on the edge of the bed. He reached out and touched her hand, his long fingers brushing against her skin.
Her eyes widened. "Your hand... it’s warm."
"Warm?"
"Yeah," she whispered, her voice carrying a hint of longing. "It feels nice."
Elion stopped for a second, his jaw clenching for a moment. Then, without a word, he climbed onto the bed and settled beside her. He slipped an arm around her waist, pulling her gently against him.
Raelynn stiffened for a moment, her heart racing, but the warmth radiating from him was undeniable. She relaxed against him, resting her head on his chest.
"This okay?"
She nodded, her cheek brushing against the fabric of his shirt. "Yeah... this is nice."
They stayed in that silence, with only the sound of their breaths and Raelynn’s occasional cough breaking it. Raelynn felt her eyelids grow heavy, but just as she was about to drift off, Elion spoke.
"I think you’re burning again," he said casually, though there was a note of concern in his tone. "I should call Sloane."
"No!" Raelynn blurted, grabbing his shirt with both hands. She glanced up at him, her face caught somewhere between fear and resolve. "Don’t leave me."
Elion froze, his silvereyes locking onto hers. He seemed caught off guard, as though he wasn’t used to such a direct plea.
"Please," she added softly, her voice almost a whisper.
He sighed, his resolve crumbling. "Fine," he replied. "But only because you asked so nicely."
Raelynn gave a small smile, her tiredness doing nothing to dim her courage. "I’m always nice."
Elion let out a quiet laugh. "You’re so stubborn."
"And yet you’re still here," she teased, her teasing words slurring as sleep overtook her.
He didn’t reply, but the faint curve of his lips and the way he tightened his hold on her said enough.
As her breathing evened out and sleep finally claimed her, He looked at her quietly, his features relaxing with an expression he kept hidden from everyone else.
"Just get better already."
