My Dad, the Demon King, Is a Big Problem-Chapter 120
Inside the Holy Palace
The day before, Meteor had broken off his engagement.
Ending a betrothal to a ducal family like Pluto was no small matter, yet by the next day, life carried on as if nothing had happened.
His household, however, reacted very differently. The moment he announced that he had officially ended his engagement with Sienna, his family had gone deathly pale with shock.
His father had even spat out his tea.
Meteor had explained why he had no choice but to break the engagement.
It was a conversation he had never wanted to have with his family.
After all, he didn’t want to repeat how Sienna and the other noblewomen had gossiped about Crescent. Just saying it out loud made him sick.
In the end, his mother accepted the decision.
She assured him that she would handle the fallout and sent him to the Holy Palace, telling him not to worry about it anymore.
Meteor had never imagined that an engagement arranged so long ago would end like this.
And he had certainly never expected Crescent to be the reason his emotions crumbled so completely.
Enough.
He shook his head, trying to clear his mind.
Thinking about the engagement inevitably made him think of Crescent.
And thinking of Crescent always left him unsettled.
Mounting his horse, he prepared to depart for his Magi inspection.
Today, Adrian was assigned to his unit, sticking close as they rode out.
"What a shame," Adrian sighed dramatically. "You and I could have been brothers-in-law, you know?"
"Not this again…"
Meteor exhaled deeply—not in anger, but in sheer exhaustion.
Every time he was paired with Adrian, he had to practice deep breathing exercises just to endure it.
Adrian still hadn’t given up on Crescent. And every time they met, he made some ridiculous remark about how unfortunate it was that she had been disowned.
Adrian sped up his horse to ride alongside Meteor, keeping pace with him.
"Ah, Meteor. Just in case, let me remind you—I really hope your new engagement goes smoothly all the way to marriage. No divorces, no breakups. You have no idea how stressed I’d be if you ended up single."
"Haaah."
Meteor let out another long sigh.
Why did Adrian act like a rival every time they spoke?
He and Crescent were never going to end up together.
At first, he had laughed at how absurd it was.
Now, he didn’t even have the energy to laugh anymore.
With a slight smirk, Meteor muttered cynically, "How unfortunate for you, Adrian. You were so adamant about this… and yet."
"What?"
Adrian nearly dropped his reins in shock.
Barely regaining his balance, he shouted, "What the hell are you saying? You’re not planning to go after Crescent, are you?! I swear I’ll run straight to your fiancée and—"
"I broke off my engagement."
Meteor cut him off, his voice even.
"Since you seem so interested in my relationships, I figured I should tell you first."
"WHAT?!"
Adrian’s grip faltered, and he swayed precariously in his saddle.
Meteor seized the moment and spurred his horse forward, gaining distance.
"GET BACK HERE, METEOR!"
Adrian’s shouts chased after him, but Meteor only urged his horse faster.
"BROKE IT OFF?! YOU’RE LYING! WHY?! IF YOU GET TOGETHER WITH CRESCENT, I SWEAR—!"
Adrian’s yelling echoed across the open land.
Meteor paid him no mind. He rode on at breakneck speed, so fast that Adrian struggled to catch up.
Thanks to that, they reached the inspection site in record time.
Then, just as Meteor was about to slow down—
His stomach dropped.
His entire body tensed, his breath caught in his throat.
His gaze swept the area, searching—
What was this presence?
A wave of overwhelming Magi filled the air.
A chilling wind howled through the trees, rustling the leaves in a way that sounded almost sinister.
This wasn’t ordinary high-tier Magi.
The sheer amount of it was staggering.
And there was something else.
A force just as powerful—
A sharp, unmistakable divine energy.
That holy power—
Moments later, Adrian finally caught up.
"Why the hell did you—"
He stopped mid-sentence.
His mouth clamped shut.
Because even he could sense it.
Adrian’s expression darkened.
"What the hell is that?"
"It’s coming from over there."
Without hesitation, Meteor yanked his reins and charged toward the source.
Adrian hesitated only for a second before following.
What’s happening?
His heartbeat pounded violently in his chest.
The density of the Magi was unnatural.
Something wasn’t just happening—
It had already begun.
They cut through the forest at full speed.
And then, as if on cue, both men abruptly halted.
Their surroundings came into sharp focus.
The sight before them burned itself into Meteor’s mind.
Was there a fire?
Across the ridge, dozens of trees were scorched black.
And in the center of it all—
Two figures stood, locked in battle.
"Who the hell is that?!"
Adrian squinted, struggling to make out the distant figures.
Meteor’s eyes narrowed as he focused on them.
And then—
His heart plummeted.
He recognized her.
A golden-haired silhouette he had memorized long ago.
Even her shadow was familiar.
And she was standing there, surrounded by immense Magi.
Before he could say anything, Adrian moved in front of him, blocking his line of sight.
"I can’t see. What’s with all this Magi?"
"…"
He couldn’t recognize her?
It was painfully obvious.
Adrian even shaded his eyes with his hand, still trying to get a clear look.
Meteor clenched his jaw.
"Do you really not know?"
"How the hell could I? It’s too far! And with this much Magi—are you sure a demon hasn’t descended? This isn’t just high-tier Magi. There are no weaklings here."
Adrian’s voice was tense.
But that wasn’t the issue.
Knowing or not knowing who was over there didn’t matter.
"Let’s get closer."
Without waiting, Meteor mounted his horse again.
He didn’t know why this was happening—
But Crescent was fighting a demon.
And Meteor had a very good idea of who it was.
He had seen that opponent before.
His pulse pounded, faster than his horse’s gallop.
Bursting out of the forest, they reached an open clearing.
And to their shock—
A group of Holy Knights appeared from the opposite side, also on horseback.
They all froze in surprise upon seeing each other.
At the front of the knights rode Cardinal Reuben Pluto.
"Meteor! Adrian!"
"Your Eminence!"
Both men dismounted immediately.
Reuben was the first to speak.
"You felt it too, didn’t you? This Magi is overwhelming."
Had they not seen Crescent yet?
Meteor nodded, and without hesitation, the knights rushed toward the battle.
Then—
The moment they saw what lay beyond the ridge—
A wave of shock ran through them.
A brutal fight was unfolding.
But more importantly—
"CRESCENT!"
Adrian’s scream rang through the air.
At last, he had recognized her.
Reuben remained still, his gaze unreadable.
To him, Crescent had once been like a granddaughter.
She was no longer his legal family, but that had never mattered.
She was still his knight.
And now, there she was—
Alone.
Fighting a demon.
It was unthinkable.
The knights broke into a flurry of alarmed whispers.
"Who is that?"
"Wait—I’ve seen him before!"

"That’s the weapons dealer!"
"Huh? Why the hell is he fighting Crescent?!"
"Was the weapon defective?!"
"More importantly, what is all this Magi—"
"He's a demon."
Reuben’s voice cut through the noise.
The knights fell silent.
"That man is a demon. Crescent is fighting a demon right now."
