Chapter 99: Chapter 99

Again Raymond leaned against the dresser, watching as Valentina adjusted the cuff of her blazer. His arms were crossed, his expression calm but firm.

"You shouldn’t worry," he assured her again. "I trust you when it comes to management. You’re going to do a great job."

Valentina sighed, shaking her head slightly.

"It’s not about doing a good job, Raymond. It’s about proving myself. I don’t want them thinking I’m just here because of my last name or connections."

At that moment Raymond tilted his head, a small smirk playing on his lips.

"And if anyone tries to misbehave, you know what to do. Report them to me immediately. I’ll come and talk some sense into them."

Valentina turned to him, arching a brow.

"Talk sense into them?" She scoffed, crossing her arms.

"You mean like the last time when ’talking sense’ involved a punch?"

Raymond gave an innocent shrug. "It worked, didn’t it?"

Valentina laughed, shaking her head.

"Raymond, I’m trying to make a good first impression, not make them afraid of me."

Raymond didn’t smile this time. Instead, he straightened, his gaze was serious.

"Even if you want to handle things your way, Valentina, you’re still my wife. And I don’t want anyone thinking they can disrespect you."

She softened at that words, appreciating the concern behind his words. freewebnσvel.cøm

"Maybe I should come with you today," Raymond mused.

"Just to make sure you settle in."

Valentina blinked.

"You? Come to Sterling Designs?" She narrowed her eyes in suspicion. "Why would you even want to do that?"

Raymond kept his face neutral, but deep down, he knew the real reason. No one at Sterling Designs knew him as the real boss. To them, Benjamin was the one in charge. No one had a clue who he truly was.

At that moment Valentina chuckled softly, shaking her head.

"That’s not happening, Raymond," she said playfully. "I’m going by myself."

Then Raymond leaned against the doorframe, watching her with a smirk.

"Alright," he said, hands in his pockets. "But if you need anything, I’m just a call away."

She smiled at his words, appreciating how he always reassured her. They shared a few more words, light and teasing, before she finally took a deep breath and grabbed her bag. Today was a big day.

Sliding into her brand-new Lamborghini, she adjusted her seat and stared at the steering wheel for a moment.

The reality was settling in—this was her first day as the new director of Sterling Design. It felt surreal, like a dream she had once thought was out of her reach.

The engine roared to life, and she pulled out of the driveway. As she neared the company building, she could feel the shift in the air—anticipation, and curiosity.

The security guards were already alert, having heard about the new director’s arrival. They watched closely as the sleek Lamborghini rolled into the parking lot.

The moment she stepped out of the car, their expressions changed. Some exchanged glances, others straightened up, as if adjusting their stance in response to her presence. The whispers started with—admiration, then speculation about her.

Valentina met their gazes with a warm smile.

"Good morning," she greeted them.

The guards quickly responded, "Good morning, ma’am."

There was no arrogance in her tone, no sign of looking down on anyone. She had never been the type to place herself above others, and that wasn’t about to change.

Respect was earned, and she wanted to build a solid foundation here.

But as she walked toward the entrance, she felt it again—something deep inside her, a quiet sense of fulfillment.

It wasn’t just about being with Raymond. It was about standing on her own, proving to herself that she could do this.

For the first time in a long while, Valentina felt like she was exactly where she was meant to be.

As Valentina walked through the grand entrance of Sterling Design, she kept her posture poised, her heels clicking lightly against the polished floor.

She had barely taken a few steps into the hallway when a young woman approached her with a warm but professional smile.

"Good morning, ma’am," the woman greeted, standing upright with a poised demeanor.

"Welcome to Sterling Design. My name is Ariana Monroe, and I’ll be your secretary."

Valentina returned the smile, appreciating the woman’s confidence.

"Good morning, Ariana. It’s nice to meet you."

Ariana gave a slight nod and gestured towards the hallway. "Allow me to guide you to your office. Everything has been prepared for your arrival."

As they walked, Valentina glanced at Ariana.

"How long have you been working here, Ariana?"

"Four years now," Ariana responded smoothly.

"I started as an intern before moving up to my current position. I handle all administrative tasks, scheduling, and anything else you might need assistance with."

Valentina admired her efficiency. "That’s impressive. I look forward to working with you."

"Likewise, ma’am,"

Ariana replied. "I’ve heard great things about you. Everyone is eager to see the direction you’ll take the company."

At that moment Valentina let out a soft chuckle.

"I hope I live up to the expectations."

Ariana smiled knowingly.

"I have no doubt you will."

With that, they reached the elevator, and Ariana pressed the button for the executive floor. Again Valentina took a deep breath. This was it—the beginning of something new.

Not long after they arrived, Valentina settled into the sleek leather chair behind her desk, taking a moment to scan her new office. The room exuded modern elegance, with minimalist décor and large glass windows that allowed natural light to flood in. Ariana stood beside the desk, her professional demeanor unwavering as she gestured toward the neatly arranged stacks of documents.

"Ma’am, on the left-hand side," Ariana said, motioning toward a set of folders, "these are the contracts we are currently working on. There are about ten active projects."

Valentina nodded, already appreciating the structured organization. Her gaze then shifted to the right-hand side, where a much smaller pile of documents sat.

"And these?" she inquired.

"These are the contracts we are currently battling," Ariana explained.

"Only three in total."

At that moment Valentina leaned forward, flipping through the top document. It was far less overwhelming than she had expected.

"That’s... impressive," she murmured. "It seems like the previous director was quite efficient before leaving."

Hearing what Valentina just said Ariana blinked, tilting her head slightly before offering a small, amused smile.

"Actually, ma’am, we’ve never had a director before."

Valentina paused, her brows furrowing.

"Never?"

Ariana shook her head.

"No, ma’am. Sterling Design has always been run directly under the board. You’re the very first director we’ve had."
