My Mansion of Gorgeous Maids in Another World-Chapter 19: Shadow Weaver
Chapter 19 - Shadow Weaver
Jett stepped into the Warden Mansion's treasure storage and immediately spotted a new shelf holding Noctlisa's dowry. From a distance he couldn't make out the items—everything was cloaked in dark hues.
I'll go through them with Noctlisa after I grab my reward from the Storage Orb.
With both maids waiting at the threshold, Jett approached the gently spinning orb. He pressed his palm to its surface, excitement pounding in his chest.
His first quest had showered him with riches, and he wondered whether the system would keep that pace or throttle back so it didn't overpower him.
The orb abruptly stilled, and a bright golden light burst from beneath it, bathing him in its glow. A heartbeat later the sphere cracked open, revealing a dark core from which a small hourglass in a gilded frame drifted free. It twirled slowly, sand cycling from one bulb to the other like a toy for antique lovers.
He extended his hand, letting the hourglass settle onto his palm.
[You have received Chronos' Golden Hourglass, which allows you to rewind time by ten seconds. The item has a single use and will lose its enchantment once activated.]
[Would you like to bond with the item now?]
Time control... Even a single second can decide a fight—and I get ten? Outstanding.
Jett wasn't naïve; he grasped the hourglass's potential. Ten seconds could save a life or roll the world back before disaster struck. This tiny relic could shove Fayralia onto a new timeline—and it now belonged to him.
I want to bond with it right now.
At his silent command the hourglass shot toward his face and plunged into his right eye. A razor‑bright pain lanced through his skull, and he clutched the side of his face until the agony ebbed.
When he finally lowered his hand the storage flickered—rows of dowries he hadn't unlocked yet shimmered in ghostly overlay—then snapped back to reality, leaving only Mia's and Noctlisa's shelves.
[You have bonded with Chronos' Golden Hourglass.]
[The item will activate at your will.]
[You have received a new title—The Man Who Glimpsed Into The Future (Legendary).]
Was that intended? Maybe that flash was one possible future.
He wasn't sure the system had meant to award that title at all, yet the split‑second glimpse ahead—and the promise of gathering more maids—put a broad grin on his face. Curious, he opened the title's details and confirmed it granted a new skill.
Once in a blue moon I can view several future paths. It's passive—unpredictable—but any edge helps.
[Name: Jett Talon]
[Age: 19]
[Level: 5]
[Titles: The Master of the Warden Mansion, The Ruler of the Heavens and the Storm, The Bearer of the World Heart, The Man Who Glimpsed Into The Future (Legendary).]
[Skills: Ruler's Lightning Bolt, Call of Clouds, World Heart's Heartbeat, Godly Pathfinder (Legendary).]
[Current World: Fayralia.]
Level five already. Between the World Tree's Seed and the mana I refined from Noctlisa, my pool's probably deeper than most anyone else at this level—but skill quality matters more than raw level.
Jett glanced over his shoulder. "I got a powerful item, a legendary title, and a new skill."
"Congratulations, Master Jett," Mia said, offering a graceful bow.
"Master—bloody well done!" Noctlisa rasped, her coarse tone cutting through Mia's grace.
"Seems like only five people have glimpsed the future—maybe only five men. Interesting way to learn about the world," Jett said. "Noctlisa, I'm interested in your gifts now. Come."
"Aye!" She shed the refined posture she'd copied from Mia and bounded to his side, crude enthusiasm springing in her steps.
On the shelf Jett found an array of items tied to Noctlisa's dullahan heritage, but a jet‑black greatsword, a matching gem, and a pair of midnight reins drew him first. He lifted the sword, turning it to catch the light. Heavy, broad, and clearly built for a two‑handed grip, the hilt wrapped in pristine dark leather, the blade curved like a dragon's shadowed talon—a sight that stirred Jett's edgier tastes.
"Is it a greatsword?" he asked.
"Aye, Master," she grunted. "That's one of our five great swords—Shadow Weaver. It cleaves through anything—even time's own shadow—and drapes the bearer in living darkness."
"Sounds incredible," Jett said. It doesn't really fit my style—Cerven already covers my needs.
He glanced at her. "Do you want it?"
Noctlisa dropped to one knee, forearm braced atop the other. "Master, 'twould be the greatest honor for me and my sire to wield Shadow Weaver!"
"Then it's yours. Stand up."
She rose and accepted the greatsword with trembling hands. Though becoming a Warden Master's maid qualified her, she still felt the weight of proving herself worthy of such a blade.
"Master, I'll hack through any bastard who dares stand in your way! Thank you for bestowing this blade upon me!"
"You're welcome," Jett said with a smile.
