At noon, the caravan that had already left Morlan Village and was on its way to the Polluted Swamp fell silent.
The thirty-plus Midnight Hunters summoned by Miss Phemys were currently nestled inside luxurious coffins distributed among the ten carriages, ensnared in delightful slumbers.
For these legitimate vampires, venturing out under such wonderfully clear skies is entirely taboo.
The sunlight can scorch their “tender” skin.
Even though their sun resistance increases with their strength, detesting light remains a tradition, especially for those of higher-ranking Blood race lineage.
A peculiar scene was set.
In the entire caravan, only the Blood Servants leading the horses were active.
The potent forces of the vampires were effectively being managed by a group of humans.
Among them was an odd one out, hiding in the back carriage earnestly studying a manual.
Murphy’s stubborn human tendencies rendered him bright and active during the day, providing a perfect opportunity to openly convene a grand meeting with the players without arousing suspicion from his vampire brethren.
“Stop and rest.
We will set off after an hour.”
The command came from the Blood Servant of Miss Phemys, an elegant and aloof mature woman dressed as a butler.
With her fiery figure, she wielded a black umbrella, bringing the whole convoy to a halt in the wilderness.
This uninviting lady was called Adel, or Lady Adel, as was respected by the Blood Servants.
It was said that she was the only personal Blood Servant of Miss Phemys so far and her most trusted human “friend”.
Currently, she was managing the caravan’s logistics.
Milian and Maxim were mandated by Murphy to partake in communal meals, while he himself, draped in a hooded cloak, secretly slipped out from the convoy to summon the players in a nearby forest.
Unfortunately, because Murphy was still a vampire fledgling, his dark spiritual energy was insufficient to summon all the players at once.
So, he summoned them in two batches.
The summoned players obediently gathered around Murphy.
They had already heard about the “hidden favorability” in their game group.
Hence, their gaze towards Murphy, the mainline NPC, carried an increased fervor.
Being observed with heartfelt admiration by a group of men made Murphy somewhat uncomfortable.
Damn!
These people were too pragmatic, weren’t they?
“Cough cough.
Before we start the formal conversation, I must fulfill my promise.”
Maintaining his elegant vampire demeanour, Murphy pulled out a folded crimson cape from his spiritual bag under the scrutiny of the players.
He then tied it ceremoniously around the shoulders of a “high favorability” player named Precipitated Bull Bull.
The grand cape of superior quality was wrapped around Bull Bull’s massive body, fastened at the neckline with an elegant clip.
The striking detail was the upright collar edge embroidered with golden threads.
With it on, Bull Bull unwittingly took on an animated villain’s persona, becoming the most eye-catching figure in the crowd.
Furthermore, Murphy still had a Blood Vulture Clan mask in his hand.
This metallic accessory was clearly stylistically aligned with the cape, fashioned to be fixated on the upturned collar to protect the throat.
Such an amazing adornment should have made Bull Bull look cool, but the contrast with his novice player status and his single piece of “newbie trunks” made it rather pitiful.
It was as if a broke hip-hop gangster had plundered an evening suit – Ridiculous in all sorts of ways.
A perfect midnight-aristocrat styled cape was worn as if it was a stolen robe of a dark bear spirit, offering an impeccable impression of “dressing mutton up as lamb”.
Spicy GuGu Chicken, a player standing by, even had his eyes wide open, exclaiming:
“Damn, that clearly looks like a VIP outfit with a minimum rating of +8!
Has Alpha Company finally come to its senses and installed a charge window in the game?”
Murphy gave him a glance, responding with the innate composure of an NPC:
“I do not understand what you are saying, warrior.
Perhaps this is a compliment in Another World.
Well, I accept it as a compliment.
This cape is a reward I obtained for you from the cunning and indifferent Miss Phemys.
Although it is just a decorative item, possessing it signifies that you are officially under the protection of the Blood Vulture Clan.
Each one of you has one!
Even those warriors who have yet to recover have one.
But since you now do not possess your own spiritual bags, I will keep them for you.” ƒгeeweɓn૦vel.com
These words made Wumeioge blink.
He whispered to the other players beside him:
“It’s “costume”, right?
And it looks like this is the ‘beta test reward’ the administrator was talking about earlier, isn’t it?”
“No doubt,”
Ayu, who was looking enviously at Bull Bull and his dominating cape, gazed at Murphy’s discreet Elder’s armor and cheerfully spoke:
“I reckon this might be part of a set.
We will probably complete it after we clear the preliminary test.”
“The equipment for newbies will definitely have average attributes.”
Old Qu, the Electronic Demon, who stood beside Wumeioge, whispered:
“But if a transmogrification system is introduced in this game later, we will be awesome.
This is definitely a limited edition item.
Wearing it would absolutely increase our prestige.”
Murphy covertly watched the players scrutinizing and discussing Bull Bull’s cape.
A smirk took form in his eyes.
Oh, his dear players were too easily satisfied.
