Chapter 991: Chapter 467: The 3rd Building!

11:45 PM.

The clamor was gradually fading away.

Everything quieted down.

A few officers from the Security Bureau still stood guard outside.

But Shen Ye had already passed three assassination trials and earned the "Blood Waste" entry.

No more assassinations would occur, so he could finally get a good night’s sleep.

Yet, he didn’t sleep.

The events of tonight were far from over.

For instance—

"Surprised to see me?"

The young man sitting across from him spoke.

Dim light illuminated his face.

Zhang Xiaoyi.

This former classmate, now bearing an entirely different presence, even spoke much more slowly.

"So late at night... why’d you suddenly show up?" Shen Ye asked.

"We’re brothers, aren’t we? How could I not come?" Zhang Xiaoyi fired back.

He pointed vaguely at the air above Shen Ye’s head and continued:

"You’ve already obtained an entry, meaning your silence period is essentially over."

Shen Ye nodded, waiting for him to continue.

"Entries like these are typically supposed to be hidden, revealed to no one. But you can take a look at mine."

As Zhang Xiaoyi spoke, an entry materialized above his head—

"Bloodline."

"I’ve seen Blood Saints, Blood Seeds, and Blood Waste, but I’ve got no clue what Bloodline is," Shen Ye remarked curiously.

"It’s hard to explain. Anyway, it’s comparatively noble." Zhang Xiaoyi shrugged.

"Lineage inheritance—so, a rich kid?" Shen Ye asked.

Zhang Xiaoyi’s expression stiffened slightly.

"Guess that’s it." Shen Ye smirked.

"Anyway, tomorrow your silence period will officially end. Then your work will be assigned—remember, hide your entry. Don’t tell anyone about it," Zhang Xiaoyi explained.

"Even a ’Blood Waste’ is worth hiding?" Shen Ye asked.

"Every entry represents a preset life path. If someone discovers your predetermined trajectory, dealing with you will become all too easy," Zhang Xiaoyi said.

He placed a card on the table.

"What’s this?" Shen Ye inquired.

"Our family’s calling card. With it in your possession, when your work gets assigned tomorrow, you’ll receive certain privileges and be put in a good position," Zhang Xiaoyi replied.

"What do you mean by ’good position’?" Shen Ye pressed.

"A cushy job with good pay—just follow routine procedures. No danger, no unexpected troubles," Zhang Xiaoyi elaborated.

He stood up and bade farewell to Shen Ye:

"Work is a crucial matter; it determines life’s quality. That’s why I’m here to help you out this time, brother."

"Touching, really, but you can take the card back," Shen Ye said.

"This isn’t the time for pride. With ’Blood Waste’ over your head, your life will become unbearably difficult if you end up in one of those heavy-labor roles," Zhang Xiaoyi protested.

Shen Ye merely smiled and insistently handed the card back.

Zhang Xiaoyi sighed, retrieved the card, and turned toward the door.

"Those lesser jobs will imprison your life, and right now, you don’t even understand... Forget it, I’ll come find you again next time."

He pushed the door open, speaking without turning back.

But Shen Ye called after him.

"A Yi."

"What?"

"Life is an open wilderness."

"What’s that supposed to mean?" Zhang Xiaoyi asked.

"If you don’t want to be trapped, you won’t be," Shen Ye replied.

Shaking his head, Zhang Xiaoyi said, "You’ve never worked before... so you’re still naïve. You’ll understand later."

Outside the door was the Teleportation Array.

In a flash, he vanished from the Shen Mansion, reappearing amid a palace-like complex of structures.

"Was the matter resolved?"

A young man wearing a Yaksha Mask asked.

"It was a wasted trip," Zhang Xiaoyi replied.

"Oh? Why was it wasted?"

"Someone like him could never be limited to the level indicated by his entry—he must have a plan."

"Then we’ll wait and see... hopefully, we can align with him," said the youth in the Yaksha Mask.

Meanwhile—

Back in Shen Ye’s room.

It was now exactly midnight.

The anticipated moment had arrived—

Floating lines of faint luminous text appeared in the air:

"Today’s Evaluation Entry has been canceled."

"Through your ’Instant Strategy Base,’ a new mechanism will be created to generate entries."

"—This is to defeat the ’Parasitic Empress.’"

"Now."

"The base’s evolution has reached its final stage. Please provide your combat philosophy to guide the evolution’s completion."

Shen Ye’s expectations were unmet, leaving him a bit disappointed.

But he did have something to look forward to.

He wasn’t sure how this new mechanism worked or how entries were created.

As for the combat philosophy—

Wait a second.

The Parasitic Empress’s power was unknown. Why should he even bother fighting her?

Courting death?

At this thought, Shen Ye spoke up:

"We’ve come to this world for one purpose—"

"Rescue, steal, and flee."

The ground of the base trembled violently, seemingly undergoing its final transformations under his directives.

The faint luminous text reappeared:

"Your gate power links to the ’Instant Strategy Base,’ while the gate’s other side guards the ’Multilayered Universe.’"

"The ’Instant Strategy Base’ is now about to complete its evolution."

"With the elements of ’Feeding,’ ’Disorder,’ and ’Natural Evolution,’ the Instant Strategy Base will finalize this evolution."

"Congratulations."

"You’ve acquired a brand-new robot factory and a brand-new Truth Cannon."

"Mining robots are currently being produced."

"Robots have been dispatched to begin mining."

Evidently—

Mining was the most fundamental resource-gathering task.

Even after an evolution, the robots were still made for mining—only this time—

Shen Ye glanced at the shiny new mining robot.

The robot resembled a giant, four or five meters tall, with a metallic frame. It spoke in a rumbling voice:

"I was going to say ’Transform,’ but that might lead to copyright issues, so instead I’ll say—"

"Suit up!"

"A man of form, mining his way to self-reliance throughout life!"

With a loud series of metallic clicks and clanks, the robot transformed entirely into a massive automated mining vehicle.
