Mythical Era: My Evolution into a Celestial Beast-Chapter 763: The Sky-Scorching Demonic Scripture of Mara, Humanity’s Despairing Future (III)
Chapter 763: The Sky-Scorching Demonic Scripture of Mara, Humanity’s Despairing Future (III)
Just as Chen Chu narrowed his eyes in contemplation, wondering whether he should immediately draw upon the power of Hell to leave and his mind wandering absurdly to certain impractical thoughts about the two sides, Tarorya suddenly spoke.
"Human, your people have no future. With your talent, it would be a pity for you to perish like this. Why not join us? If you agree, I can petition the Ancestral Court to grant you a drop of Primordial Ancestor Blood, so you can refine your true form."
Chen Chu's talent was so monstrous that even after he had slain so many demon kings and wiped out over a million demons, Tarorya still attempted to persuade him after finally catching him.
With Chen Chu's talent, if he chose to join the Purgatory Clan and receive the bloodline of the Primordial Ancestor, he could rapidly ascend to become a great demon king.
He could even reach the level of demon god, and found the ninth empire by himself. Even demon gods like Deorus had needed to join forces with another demon god to establish their empires.
Hearing her offer, Chen Chu narrowed his eyes slightly and said, "Why do you all keep insisting that humanity has no future? Aren’t we holding our ground against you on the frontlines?"
Since the order was merely to trap Chen Chu and not kill him immediately, Tarorya was in no hurry. Behind her, black demonic flames gathered into a grand throne, upon which she lazily sat, crossing her legs.
"Three hundred day-cycles ago," Tarorya said languidly, "our Primordial Ancestor awoke briefly and issued an order for eastward expansion, even before our empire’s borders touched your territories.
"Even though your human race grew rapidly and resisted the combined assault of the Dark Demonic Morkaya Empire and the Battle Demon Empire for over two hundred day-cycles, it’s ultimately meaningless. Once the rest of the empires conclude their wars and redirect their forces eastward, you humans will be crushed into dust.
"Compared to our empire, which has existed for just over five thousand years, and the Battle Empire that has stood for over nine thousand years, the remaining six empires are even more powerful.
"The weakest of those six is as strong as the combined forces of our two empires. And the two strongest ancient empires have existed for over a hundred thousand years. Whether in the number of demon kings and great demon kings, or in the strength of their main legions, they are on an entirely different level from our empire.
"Especially the supreme demon gods of the two ancient empires." At this, a look of deep reverence crossed Tarorya’s face. "They have already approached the level of the Primordial Ancestor. Just a flick of their fingers would be enough to annihilate your entire race."
As she spoke about the supreme demon gods, Tarorya's tone became even more respectful, not daring to show the slightest irreverence.
Chen Chu’s eyes narrowed slightly. "If your Purgatory Clan is so overwhelmingly powerful, then why have you been at war with the Heavenly Feathered Race and the other civilization for so long?"
Since the other side was in no rush, Chen Chu saw no harm in dragging things out to gather more intelligence.
Tarorya lazily replied, "Naturally, it is for the sake of honing our forces. We of the Purgatory Clan are born from slaughter. To become a demon king, one must undergo constant fighting and bloodshed, ultimately refining themselves into kings.
"Every War of Civilization we wage against powerful aliens strengthens our empire’s foundations, increases our numbers of demon kings and great demon kings, and ultimately enhances the principle power held by our demon gods."
So that's their goal.
Even Chen Chu found himself shaken by this information. He hadn’t expected that the entire Purgatory Clan was nothing but pawns of the demon gods—that they treated all of existence as fodder for their cultivation.
Killing enemies, killing their own, corrupting heaven and earth itself until the strongest demon gods were forged. It was like raising poisonous insects.
Lounged upon her throne, Tarorya continued. "After the Primordial Ancestor’s command over three hundred day-cycles ago, the three empires fighting the Heavenly Feathered Race have finally begun to fight seriously. With minimal losses, they exterminated the majority of the Feathered Race's mythical-level powerhouses.
"Within twenty day-cycles at most, the Feathered Race will fall. Afterward, the three empires will redirect their forces eastward, and your human race will be crushed instantly. Perhaps it won’t even come to that. Their Majesties are already preparing to launch an extinction war, to wipe you out completely.
"That is why I said your race has no hope, no future. Only by joining our Purgatory Clan do you stand a chance to survive. You have one day-cycle to consider, before Their Majesties return. If you agree to become my companion, I can guarantee your survival.
"So, Chu Batian," Tarorya said, gazing at him with anticipation, "will you choose life or death?" Her gaze was full of interest; she was deeply fascinated by this powerful human. The strong, intoxicating aura of his bloodline and genes nearly drove her crazy—so robust, so enticing.
Chen Chu, however, caught every key point in her words: the approaching demon gods, the one day-cycle limit, the Primordial Ancestor's direct orders, and intelligence about the other empires.
It was indeed enough to make any human fall into despair. Even the two weakest Demon God Empires could suffocate humanity, and the remaining six were even more powerful.
...So what? In twenty day-cycles, Chen Chu was confident he could slaughter his way through the entire Purgatory Clan.
"I choose... to kill you."
Roar!
A surge of ferocious, violent aura erupted into the heavens, as Chen Chu's figure rapidly expanded to over three hundred meters tall. Dragon horns sprouted from his head, and a long dragon tail lashed behind him as dazzling blood-colored light exploded outward.
Within a blood sea spanning over a hundred kilometers, golden flames and blue thunderbolts flickered, and behind Chen Chu, the dark void churned, as if an ancient god had been summoned into the world.
However, this was far from over. Inside Chen Chu's body, a vitality so immense it shook heaven and earth erupted forth. Every acupoint across his body blazed with blood-red light, and as it interweaved with itself, it reflected a phantom of a plane.
With a vitality that rivaled a titan-level colossal beast, Chen Chu forcibly reopened a sliver of the sealed connection, drawing upon the power of the planes to summon the supreme Law of Power.
A force so overwhelming that even Tarorya grew solemn descended. An incredibly domineering and crushing power exploded from Chen Chu, collapsing space itself and tearing apart the void.
Within the heavens and earth, faint chants of "power, power, power" seemed to echo.
With a physical body comparable to a titan-level beast, united with five high-level laws and three divine abilities under the supreme Law of Power, Chen Chu at this moment resembled a black hole.
Boom!
He swung his pitch-black halberd, and the entire sealed world shook violently. Ahead of him, vast expanses of space shattered, forming a spreading black curtain rushing straight toward Tarorya.
"Human, you're seeking death! You think I’m like Erebor, that useless trash?!"
Infuriated by Chen Chu's insolence, Tarorya sprang to her feet. Countless black flames exploded around her, gathering upon her saber.
"Today, I’ll show you the meaning of absolute power—a gap your little outburst secret arts can never bridge!"
Tarorya raised her saber high. Monstrous power surged out, two perfected high-level laws and three middle-level laws bursting forth simultaneously.
"I shall unleash the culmination of my life’s mastery—the Sky-Scorching Demonic Scripture of Mara! There are three moves. First blade—Silent Scorching Burial!"
Boom!
A black saber light spanning ten thousand meters slashed down, cleaving through the heavens. Where it passed, even the world itself was sliced apart, a vast and endless tear splitting open the sky.
The laws shattered, matter, space, and energy were all severed—nothing could withstand the overwhelmingly tyrannical saber light.
Boom!
The saber light collided against the kilometer-long black halberd with earth-shaking force.
For a moment, all fell into absolute silence.
Then, dazzling pure white brilliance burst forth between the saber light and the halberd, as if it were the very first light from the beginning of world creation.
Boom!
The entire world trembled from the unbearable impact. Gigantic black rifts spread across the land, one after another. The ground itself was cleaved open, forming a massive ravine stretching over five hundred kilometers.
The unleashed shockwaves blasted out across a thousand kilometers, slamming against the black curtain sealing the world. The seven towering phantoms behind the curtain were forced to stagger two steps backward.
"My lord, be careful with your power!" The demon kings cried out in alarm.
At the same time, a black shadow was blasted away, shooting over two hundred kilometers before crashing into a mountain range with a thunderous boom. The mountains collapsed, boulders shattered, and dust filled the sky.
Amid the rolling dust clouds, Chen Chu stood firmly at the bottom of a massive crater, holding his halberd. His gaze was grim as he looked toward Tarorya, who still towered imposingly six hundred kilometers away.
So strong!
This was the first time since his breakthrough into the king-level that Chen Chu had been directly blasted away by an enemy. As expected of a peak great demon king holding dominion over a section of the empire.
In fact, this was normal. Even though Chen Chu’s explosive outburst had reached the peak of the heavenly-king level, his true cultivation was still only at the middle stage of the king level. Meanwhile, Tarorya’s cultivation had already reached the peak of the great-demon-king level.
Furthermore, Tarorya was an awakened great demon king, having reached the extreme limit of the great-demon-king level and fused all of her power of laws and insights into one. Every slash carried world-destroying might, even enough to cut through supreme laws.
Of course, part of the reason for the latter lay in the fact that Chen Chu’s Law of Power was only at intermediate mastery, not even at the advanced stage yet, let alone fully integrated into his embodiment of laws.
Huff! This is troublesome.
Chen Chu exhaled slowly. Yet in his eyes burned a frenzied battle will. Finally, he had encountered an opponent against whom he could fight with his full strength.
