"This was the correct one."

The elder's eyes widened.

'He possesses an item more valuable than his spatial ring? No that can't be,' Grandmaster Qi thought, but he knew Xiao Fang had no reason to lie.

His mind raced, exploding with several ideas per second before he finally concluded that it had to be something that couldn't be detected, concealed by a powerful formation inscription. He'd first need to guess what Xiao Fang might be trying to hide about himself, then guess what item he would use to hide it. It could be anything. There were simply too many things a man would want to hide, especially a mysterious figure like Xiao Fang. The Elder didn't know where to even start.

For the first time in years, Grandmaster Qi found himself unable to solve an appraisal riddle, and considering that a young disciple was able to solve it, he knew it wasn't impossible, he was just lacking the insight.

"Even with all my years of wisdom, I am still bested by a young disciple," Grandmaster Qi admitted, shaking his head. "My office is right this way."

Xiao Fang followed him inside. Once they were seated, he placed four spatial pouches onto Grandmaster Qi's desk. With a wave of his hand, he retrieved several jade artifacts from each of them, carefully arranging them across the appraisal table.

Grandmaster Qi's brows lifted slightly. He had expected Xiao Fang to have more than what he displayed earlier, but this exceeded his expectations.

"Tell me," Xiao Fang said, "how much are they worth?"

Grandmaster Qi composed himself, carefully inspecting each piece. A long silence stretched before he finally spoke.

"These… are not ordinary artifacts," he said, his voice laced with admiration. "The craftsmanship, the inscriptions, the energy they give off—these were not made by common hands. If I were to give a conservative estimate…" He paused, rubbing his chin. "Together, they would fetch no less than 100, perhaps even 130 gold teals."

Because of the clerk in the clothing store, Xiao Fang understood that 100 gold teals was equivalent to 1,000 gold coins. That was a few hundred more than he already had in coins.

"Where would I be able to sell it," Xiao Fang asked.

Grandmaster Qi finally turned his gaze toward him, his expression serious.

"I won't ask how you obtained these," he said, "but if they were acquired through… questionable means, any reputable establishment will know. They won't just refuse to buy them—they'll confiscate them and alert the authorities."

Xiao Fang remained unfazed. "I assume you have an alternative?"

"I do," Grandmaster Qi replied. "I would suggest trading some of these for items of equivalent value. Anything that cannot be traded, we'll auction off tonight. However, be warned—the auction house takes a 12% fee, on top of my 8%."

That meant a total deduction of 20%—one-fifth of his earnings. Xiao Fang considered it for a brief moment, but in truth, he didn't care much about the money. Even if they had asked for 30%, he wouldn't have batted an eye.

"Let's do it that way, then," he said simply.

"Good," Grandmaster Qi nodded, standing up. "I must move quickly. I'll inform the headmaster that we'll be adding items to tonight's auction. In the meantime, feel free to explore any of the floors and see if you find something that interests you."

With that, the elder turned and left, leaving Xiao Fang to decide his next move.

Stepping out of the office, he found Xiao Hei and Yu Lan waiting for him just outside.

"Did you find anything?"

Yu Lan's eyes lit up with excitement. "Yes! I think I found something you might like. Come with me."

Without hesitation, she turned and led the way, weaving through the grand hall and up the stairs toward the third floor. Unlike the lower levels, which were lively with merchants and appraisers, this floor was quiet—oppressive even. The air carried a sharp, refined pressure, as if every artifact here was waiting for the right owner to claim it.

Yu Lan navigated past displays of enchanted robes, formation plates, and ornate jewelry before stopping in front of a long, glass-encased stand. Inside, a pair of twin blades rested upon a velvet cushion, their curved edges gleaming under the soft glow of lamps.

"These," Yu Lan said, turning to Xiao Fang with a proud smile. "They were the strongest, nor the most expensive weapons on the floor, but amongst all the dual-blades I was able to find, I could tell right away these weren't ordinary."

Xiao Fang stepped forward, his blindfolded still obstructing his vision, but even if he couldn't hear through the glass-like inscription formation casing, he could feel their presence.

Yu Lan turned his attention to the small jade tablet beside them, then began to read aloud what was inscribed on it with delicate golden lettering.

Twin Blades: Yin-Yang Celestial Fangs

Recovered from the tomb of an ancient Heavenly Realm practitioner, these blades are artifacts of a bygone era. Capable of storing and harmonizing with two separate Spirit Attribute Qis, they allow their wielder to wield dual attributes simultaneously without conflict. Their true potential remains unknown, as their original owner perished long before their secrets could be fully unraveled.

Curious, Xiao Fang finally lifted his blindfold to look at them. To his disappointment, there was nothing in the case, but a note reading, 'This item will be sold in tonight's auction.'

Xiao Fang didn't really want to go to the auction, but if the swords were really as special as Yu Lan believed them to be, he thought it would be worth the time to check them out.

Xiao Fang took a moment to read the descriptions on a few other twin blades, but none of them really piqued his interest like the one Yu Lan found.

"I guess we'll just have to go to the auction tonight," Xiao Fang said as he looked down at Yu Lan. Her gaze stuck on his unusual colored eyes.

This was the first time seeing someone with violet eyes, she didn't know what it meant, but one thing was for sure, from his gaze alone she could tell Xiao Fang certainly wasn't weak
