Chapter 150 - Itachi and Yuta's Reunion

"... Yes. I will explain it to them."

Juzo ended his communication with Pain and looked up.

He said, "We don't need to go back to the original headquarters and just head straight to Amegakure."

"According to the leader, the so-called 'demigod' of Amegakure is dead. The village is now ours."

With him were Itachi, Kakuzu, and Hidan, who had been brought from the Land of Hot Water to join the Akatsuki.

Itachi remained as expressionless as ever, his cold gaze unreadable.

He calmly said, "The so-called demigod was killed just like that. The leader's power is truly unimaginable."

He couldn't help but wonder just how strong Pain was?

If Pain faces Yuta, who had slaughtered countless people, could he defeat, or even kill him?

If so, perhaps he could manipulate them into clashing.

To Itachi, both Yuta and Pain were threats to the world's peace.

The best outcome would be for both of them to be eliminated.

Kakuzu scoffed, "Just a demigod."

Compared to Senju Hashirama, the true "God of Shinobi" Hanzo was nothing.

If Hanzo had Senju Hashirama's power, Konoha, Iwagakure, and Sunagakure would have had to join forces to take down Amegakure.

But reality proved otherwise.

While Hanzo was strong, he wasn't strong enough to change the balance of power among the Five Great Hidden Villages.

"Hey, Kakuzu."

Hidan nudged him with an elbow and said, "Didn't you say you fought Konoha's First Hokage? So how does Amegakure's 'demigod' compare to the 'God of Shinobi'?"

After joining Akatsuki, Hidan was set to partner up with Kakuzu.

Their pairing made sense.

Bboth of them had near-immortal abilities, and Kakuzu's technique could even stitch Hidan back together if necessary.

"Not even close." Kakuzu grumbled, clearly uninterested in the conversation.

Juzu raised an eyebrow and said, "Wait, did you actually fight the First Hokage?"

Kakuzu had been bragging about this for years, but since he was the oldest among them, no one could refute him.

If it was true, how had he survived?

Kakuzu stopped in his tracks and turned to glare at Juzo, his green eyes filled with anger.

He retorted, "A guy like you, who was beaten and forced to flee by a Konoha Genin, has no right to question me."

Sure, Kakuzu had lost to Senju Hashirama, but at least he had escaped with his life.

Meanwhile, Juzo had been humiliated by a mere Genin.

"That green jumpsuit freak wasn't a normal Genin!"

Juzo snapped, his face darkening.

Hidan burst into laughter and said, "Wait, you got beaten by a Genin? What kind of weak organization is this?"

Juzo scowled.

As they exchanged jabs, the group finally arrived at Amegakure.

"The village is... strangely quiet," Juzo muttered, frowning.

There were no guards at the gates and no one stopped them from entering.

"And what's with all these trees? Did Amegakure always have them?"

Kakuzu narrowed his eyes, feeling a sense of unease.

The towering trees looked unnatural, as if they had sprung up overnight.

"Does the leader know Wood release?" Itachi asked, his gaze sharpening.

Since he had heard that Pain had killed Hanzo, he naturally thought that this was his doing.

He knew that Konoha's Anbu had a ninja who could use Wood release codename.

But his abilities were unimpressive and certainly nothing on this scale.

He couldn't even beat the weakest Kage-level ninja.

If these trees were the result of a ninjutsu, then the caster had to be immensely powerful.

Juzo shrugged, "I've barely seen the leader fight. No matter what enemy he faces, he always defeats them in one move."

Kakuzu nodded and said, "If he truly possesses the Rinnegan, the legendary eyes of the Sage of Six Paths, then it wouldn't be surprising if he could use Wood release, or something similar."

If these trees were indeed Pain's doing, there was no need to worry.

Juzo said, "Let's move. The leader said we'll meet at the central tower."

As they moved through the village, some Amegakure ninjas saw them, but no one tried to stop them.

Itachi took note of this.

'A dangerous organization. I need to find a way to expose them.' Itachi thought.

But to whom?

Konoha's Third Hokage was dead. Even the two advisors had been killed.

Konoha was now under Yuta's complete control.

Even if he wanted to pass on information, there was no one left to receive it.

"Damn you, Yuta." He cursed silently.

Because of that man, he had no choice but to stay in Akatsuki. He was trapped.

Just then—

"Hm~"

A familiar chuckle echoed through the air.

Itachi's heart stopped.

That voice...

Looking up, he saw the figure of the man who haunted his nightmares.

"Long time no see, Itachi."

Yuta stood lazily in the distance, a grin spreading across his face.

"You actually managed to survive this long. Tell me, have you missed me?"
