Naruto: Wooing Tsunade from Day One!-Chapter 381: The Twenty-Three Days Deadline
Chapter 381 - 381: The Twenty-Three Days Deadline
The next day, Kawakaze and Nayuki arrived early at the Senju residence. Behind them followed a large group of retainers from the Hatake Clan, creating an impressive sight.
As they stepped through the door, they saw hired domestic helpers busily cleaning under Mito's supervision. She was carefully ensuring everything was perfect, as the Senju family was hosting Nawaki's wedding, and she wanted the mansion to be spotless.
"Grandma, my sister-in-law and I have brought helpers," Kawakaze announced as he and Nayuki approached. "Just tell us what to do."
Mito greeted them with a nod. Nayuki, who had known Mito for a long time, felt at ease in her presence.
"I won't stand on ceremony, then," Mito said. "Once the house is clean, you can decorate it. You two will also need to go shopping—you've been there before, so you know what to get."
Without hesitation, she assigned them their task. Then, pulling out her wallet, she said, "It's only fair to compensate those who contribute."
"Grandma, you don't have to," Kawakaze interjected quickly. "You're embarrassing me. Nawaki isn't just your grandson; he's my brother-in-law too." His traditional upbringing left no room for argument.
"Haha, then I won't hold back," she added with a laugh. Mito smiled, clearly satisfied. "Nawaki is lucky to have a brother-in-law like you."
The Hatake Clan's wealth was well-known, and Mito didn't press the issue further. If Kawakaze's family had been struggling financially, she would never have accepted the gesture.
"We're all family," Kawakaze insisted. Turning to Nayuki, he said, "You all stay here and listen to Lady Mito's instructions. Sister-in-law, let's go."
After arranging for the helpers they had brought, Kawakaze and Nayuki headed to the market. Mito stayed behind, assigning tasks to the remaining household staff while overseeing the preparations.
The two were gone the entire day, only returning as the sun set, burdened with their purchases. Three large storage scrolls, filled to capacity, released enough items to fill half the courtyard.
"Your shopping power is something else," Tsunade remarked, arriving after work and staring in disbelief. "Did you empty the store?"
"It doesn't matter if I buy more. Am I short on money?" Kawakaze quipped, brushing his hair back and deliberately putting on a smug expression. "I bought extra styles to give more options."
Nayuki, prone to indecision, had struggled to choose. Not wanting to waste time, Kawakaze had simply bought everything. To him, the expense was trivial.
"You're a bit of a show-off for someone with money," Tsunade said, irritated by his smug attitude. She gave him a swift kick, her annoyance plain.
"Okay, stop flirting and let's eat."
Mito watched the scene unfold, amused as if she were watching a drama. These two clowns were undoubtedly a natural pair.
"Okay, Grandma," Kawakaze replied quickly, still grinning as he followed Mito to the dining room.
"This guy really has no shame," Tsunade muttered, pressing her hand to her head. Over the years, the one constant about Kawakaze was his love for being the center of attention.
"I understand you; I've got one at home too," Nayuki sympathized. The two women exchanged a look of shared exasperation, caught between laughter and frustration.
"Let's go eat," Tsunade sighed, leading the way with Nayuki beside her.
The Senju household felt unusually crowded today. Mito had gone out of her way to prepare a lavish meal, filling the table with sumptuous dishes.
During dinner, Nawaki and Misaki repeatedly expressed their gratitude. Kushina, who had joined in for fun, couldn't hide her envious expression.
"No need for formalities—we're family," Kawakaze said cheerfully, clearly in high spirits after a few drinks. "This wedding will be perfect. I'll take care of everything, so you two don't need to worry about a thing. Just focus on getting ready to share your sake cups."
"You heard him," Tsunade chimed in, noticing how Nawaki and Misaki were both excited and nervous. "Relax. Your brother-in-law has it all under control."
"Well, thank you, Sister and Brother-in-law," Nawaki and Misaki said in unison, their politeness making them sound like strangers.
Kushina almost burst into laughter when she saw Tsunade's expression darken. The awkward formality was grating, and it didn't take much for Tsunade to speak her mind.
"Say thank you one more time, and I'll twist your heads off," she warned, her irritation clear. If Mito hadn't been sitting there, she might have slapped the table for emphasis.
"Okay, okay, you two," Mito interjected, unable to stand it any longer. "Just remember to be good to your sister and brother-in-law. If you don't know what to say, it's better to stay quiet."
"Yes, Grandma," Nawaki and Misaki answered in unison, nodding earnestly like obedient children.
"It's all trivial stuff, don't get angry," Kawakaze said, understanding the situation and attempting to comfort Tsunade instead.
"It's driving me crazy." Tsunade took a long drink, exhaled deeply, and shot a sharp glare at Nawaki.
"Sister, it's my fault." Nawaki's mind finally cleared, and he adopted a manly attitude, owning up to his mistake.
"Your sister knows. Just have some more with your brother-in-law," Kawakaze interjected, noticing that Tsunade had no desire to deal with Nawaki directly. The situation felt both awkward and a little amusing.
After three rounds of wine and five courses of food, the atmosphere at the table had lightened, leaving only joy and laughter.
Twenty-three days passed in the blink of an eye. With meticulous preparation, the Senju mansion was soon adorned with lanterns and streamers. Invitations had been sent out far and wide to friends and family across Konohagakure.
Even Nagato, in the distant Land of Rain, received an invitation. Nawaki had insisted on sending it personally, feeling that it would be wrong not to notify his old friends, even if they couldn't attend.
News of Nawaki's wedding spread quickly throughout Konoha. While most ninja knew him as a talented Water Release user with an impressive lineage, the villagers mainly recognized him as the younger brother of the Hokage and the grandson of the First Hokage.
Nawaki, however, didn't dwell on these titles. His thoughts were solely focused on the wedding. He believed that one day, his name would resonate throughout the village without the need for family associations or titles!
In the Land of Rain, far from Konoha's bustling preparations, a small group of individuals found their thoughts unsettled by the news.
"Nawaki and Sister Misaki are finally getting married," Nagato murmured, holding the crimson invitation. His heart brimmed with blessings for them. Of the group, he had known Misaki the longest. She had always looked after him in the laboratory, and their shared ethnicity had naturally brought them closer.
"Lovers united at last. I'm really happy for them," Yahiko said with a smile, glancing meaningfully at Konan. "Luckily, you're by my side."
"Are you going back?" Nonō asked casually, her tone neutral. For her, Nawaki was merely a senior, and she had no connection to Misaki.
"I'd like to go, but I don't know if it's a bother." Nagato scratched his head, contemplating the practicality of the trip.
"Nawaki-senpai definitely hopes you'll come," Nonō pointed out, her analysis precise. "But if you can't, I'm sure he won't blame you. He understands exactly what we're dealing with."

Her words echoed Nawaki's thoughts perfectly.
"We shouldn't worry about the village's safety," Konan said thoughtfully. "Things have been calm since Sensei's wife left. Besides, Kakuzu can hold down the fort. But I'll leave it to you all to decide."
Her comment betrayed her inner hope, though she tried to hide it.
"You..." Yahiko teased, gently tapping Konan's nose, his eyes full of affection. "Nagato and I will think it over."
