Chapter 130: Dinner invitation

Evening rolled in and the business for that day has ended, making them earn a lot of money.

Right now, Coco is helping the married couple clean the interior of the butcher shop and hide half of the tough crocodile because the flying pig and poison tiger from yesterday were the first to be sold out today.

She caught two monsters yesterday which was too much for their usual and ended up making the customers torn choosing between the two.

Half of them chose the flying pig and half of them chose the other which left halves of both monster meats.

The remnants of yesterday’s monsters were sold today, but the tough crocodile ended up getting the half of it left behind and stored in the freezer.

Speaking of the freezer, Coco had to refill the magic stones as well, so she’s sitting in front of the freezer while munching on a bread filled with sweet fillings to replenish her mana as fast as possible.

The five magic stones sucked a lot of her energy, making her dizzy every now and then, but seeing them shine brightly once they get their fill leaves her feeling proud.

It was like watching her collection shine.

"Are you done?" Jacques questioned, looking at the magic stones over Coco’s shoulder with her eyebrows raised to her hairlines.

"Almost." Coco answered as she took a bite from the bread, humming softly when the fillings spread on her tongue.

"Great." Jacques smiled fondly and stood up properly, "Do you have plans after this? Do you want to take up that dinner invitation we offered to you a couple of days ago?"

Coco brightened up and turned to Jacques. "Sure! I don’t have to buy my dinner tonight if that’s the case!"

"Not refusing free food, huh?" Renaldo commented, grunting as he scrubbed the counter top with all his might to get rid of the possible bacteria in there.

"Who in their right mind would refuse a free food?" Coco countered back with a raised eyebrow, "Besides, I want to taste Jacques cooking— or your cooking! Or whoever cooks! I bet it would taste so good!"

Jacques giggled and shook her head. "My husband doesn’t cook because he can’t get the right seasoning for his food."

"Yup, and I would love to learn, but the kitchen just won’t let me for some reason." The butcher grumbled under his breath as he frowned, "I tried cooking those fried rice, fried potatoes, and even those fried vegetables, but I somehow still messed up."

Coco can hear the frustration in Renaldo’s voice as he huffs those words out, making her smile and laughing quietly to herself.

"Anyway, I’m done here." Renaldo announced and straightened his back, walking over to the sink to pour the dirty water out of the basin and wash the rag he used to wipe the water from the counter top.

"I’m also done." Coco hummed out and stood up from her seat, arching her back because she felt like she was hunched over to her seat for too long.

Crack. Crack.

A couple of cracks reached her ears as her spine snapped back into place which made her let out a sigh of relief.

She turned around and walked over to her bag, reaching out and slinging it over her shoulder— well, she tried to, but Renaldo called out to her.

"Let me carry that bag for you." The big man offered and held out a hand.

Coco blinked owlishly and was about to refuse because she didn’t want to make his wife uncomfortable, but the woman herself assured her.

"Let him carry that for you, Coco." Jacques backed her husband up with a smile, "We can’t let our wounded friend carry more things for today, and yes, we know that you’re stronger than us, but let us, okay?"

Coco slowly nodded her head and handed the bag to Renaldo.

The bag itself wasn’t heavy because it only had a few fruits and bread inside with some leaves that she tucked in there in hopes of making a basket out of it once she got back to her room.

So, Renaldo offering to carry it for her was strange, but the man himself offered and the wife was alright with it so who is she to refuse?

Just like what she said, she can’t say no to anything free! Free food and free service are the same thing!

The three of them exited the butcher shop and Renaldo didn’t think twice to lock the place up with a couple of padlocks, chain, and a padlock imbued with magic stone.

"You two go ahead." Renaldo stated and nodded his head towards his wife as he raised a bag, "I’ll drop this off at Coco’s house, then will go home. Don’t worry, I won’t do anything to your bag, Coco."

"Alright, dear." Jacques responded as she smiled at him.

"I’m not worried at all." Coco said after Jacques and with a dismissive wave of her hand, she shot down the assumption of her friend, "Take your time and be careful!"

"Will do." Renaldo waved at them over his shoulder as he made his way to Coco’s house, "Take care of my wife for a little while!"

"Will do!" Coco assured him.

She turned around to face her friend, but let out a yelp when Jacques suddenly grabbed her wrist and started dragging her towards their house with an excited skip in Jacques’ every step.

"Woah there, girly!" Coco exclaimed, startled at the turn in her Jacques behavior.

"I’m happy to have you over and cook something for you so we better hurry up!" Jacques giggled, her voice dripping with enthusiasm, as if she had not just finished yelling at the customers to stay in line an hour ago.

"We’re already hurrying up." Coco said exasperatedly.

It was obvious that Jacques was eager, but it wasn’t just her.. A certain fairy has been giggling non stop for awhile now as well.

"I’m so excited, Coco!"
