New World with Four Husbands-Chapter 136: Rey and his little guard
Chapter 136: Rey and his little guard
"Chocolate sandwich, strawberry muffin, banana bread, egg sandwich, salad, and red apple tea.. I think we’ve got everything." Jacques hummed out softly as she closed the picnic basket.
"We don’t have to carry a lot of food, you know?" Coco blinked owlishly, grabbing the picnic basket from the table.
"Don’t carry that." Renaldo was quick to snatch the basket from Coco’s hand and glared at her, "Stop trying to take everything and carry them. What would be my use if you won’t let me do this one thing?"
"But I can carry them." Coco retorted back and crossed her arms, "You’re already carrying the fruits I bought. Isn’t that enough?"
"You bought the banana and strawberry we used for the food. Isn’t that enough?" The man countered back and slinged the bag properly on his shoulders, "You also bought these fruits so the least I could do is carry them."
"Yeah, well, that’s because I invited the two of you to hang out with me by the river without a heads up!" Coco huffed out with a frown, "It’s normal to bring food because I’m the one who invited the two of you."
"It’s alright, Coco." Jacques assured her and patted her back, "We baked the muffin and bread just in time, right? Let my husband carry everything and focus on relaxing today."
"But—" Coco was about to argue even more, but Jacques simply smiled at her, "Ngh.. Fine."
Coco grumbled under her breath and turned away. "Can we go now? The sun is already up and we already had our breakfast.. I want to take a swim already."
Coco sounded like she was whining, but what else could she do? She wants to finish the quest as early as she can to receive the points— she could already imagine how physically strong she would be if she added more points in her [Strength] passive skill.
Fortunately, Renaldo and Jacques don’t seem to mind her strange whiny behavior.
The three of them exited the house and Renaldo locked the door, rattling the doorknob to double check if it was indeed locked and when he was sure that their house was secured properly, they started walking towards the gates.
However, on their way to the gates, a certain little boy came running towards them with a certain man trailing behind him.
"Coco! Miss Jacques! Mister Renaldo!" Rey called out to the three of them, a large and excited smile on his face as he sprinted towards them.
"It seems like we will be inviting two more to our hang out." Coco started with a small smile as she waved at the little boy, "The two of you don’t mind, right? Would it be okay if he joins us?"
"I’m completely fine with it." Jacques said and smiled at the little boy as he approached.
"Thanks a bunch, Jacques." Coco hummed, pleased to know that her friends didn’t mind letting the little boy and his guard join them on their unplanned hang out.
Rey skidded to a stop in front of them, his breathing fast as he panted. "The three of you are going out, right? Can I co—" ƒreewebηoveℓ.com
"Yeah, yeah. You and your little friend over there can come with us." Coco cut the little boy off and reached out, ruffling his dark hair playfully which earned a whine from Rey, making Coco chuckle under her breath.
"Thank you!" Rey expressed his joy and gratitude despite being annoyed at Coco for messing his hair.
With the two of them joining Coco’s little group, the five of them departed to go to the river a couple of kilometers away from the village— the same river where Coco caught the tough crocodile last time.
When they reached the river, Renaldo placed the baskets down and pulled the big blanket out of the basket Coco bought with her before spreading it open on the ground.
"I didn’t know that you would go swimming.. I didn’t bring any clothes with me. The young master doesn’t have anything to wear." The man who grabbed her the other day stated, his voice gruff with slight agitation as he stared at Coco, his purple irises narrowing slightly.
"He could just dry it out while we’re walking back." Coco blinked and stared back at him, "If he has not experienced it yet, then it would be the first fun experience he will have."
"What’s fun about walking back to the village with wet clothes?" Kairo, the man who follows Rey’s orders, asked.
"Relax, man." Renaldo interjected through the conversation because he felt like Kairo was getting a little too aggressive towards his friend, "Just what Coco said, it would be fun. It would also serve as one of Rey’s core memories."
"Exactly!" Coco agreed with a nod of her head, "See? My man, Renaldo, gets it. Why can’t you? Let the child have fun."
"The young master isn’t a child anymore so stop treating him like one." Kairo grunted out as he looked away, "He was trained to act like a noble unlike someone and knows how to control himself."
"How dare you!" Lala screeched almost immediately, her voice dripping with poison as she lunged forward, but was stopped when Coco stopped her.
Coco grabbed Lala discreetly by opening her robe, stepping forward, and flapping it close, capturing Lala before she could attack the oblivious man.
"Haha.. I guess that someone must have been a trash, huh?" Coco hummed out, smiling.
"Don’t listen to him, Coco—" Renaldo was sweating and was looking over at his wife by the river, her eyes screaming at him to stop the man from spouting nonsense.
"Oh, no, no, I completely agree with him." Coco waved her hand dismissively, "That someone was truly worse than a human being and I honestly think that they should have collapsed somewhere from being worse than a trash."
Kairo flinched and stepped back, not expecting for the woman before him to say those words.
Is she not aware that he was talking about her?
