Nexus Awakened (An Isekai LitRPG Gender Bender Story)-Chapter 955. The Stage Awaits
“I’m sorry about this. But it’s too risky to leave an Isolation Sphere in the hands of a Corrupted. I’d hate it if the Conditions were to suddenly change on me. We’re on a tight schedule.”
Frost apologized to the mound of clothes that used to be the Repenters.
Since she was now facing a Main Sequence Corrupted in an open area, she couldn’t avoid the gazes of the Repenters. Additionally, an Isolation Sphere posed the risk of being hijacked by the Corrupted, so she could not use this to hide her presence.
In the end, there was only one sure-fire method to keep their eyes off her.
That was to explode their bodies using [Progenitor Art: Wrath: Rupture]. It’s secondary enabled her to rupture those with less than 50 RESIST and 1,000 ATT and MAG ATT. The death was instantaneous, and their bodies reduced to a coagulated lump of vascular meat.
“[Commandment] would have worked since they contain a good dose of my blood. But the guarantee of death is much more reliable. Oh well. On the bright side, it was instantaneous. They wouldn’t even know I was responsible for their deaths.”
“You’re starting to sound like a villain.” Jury murmured.
“A villain wouldn’t the have decency of apologizing.”
Frost’s reign over blood was not a known fact until very recently. Horus wasn’t fully aware of this until she had witnessed her manipulating blood earlier. But the full extent of it was displayed before her.
For the Amalgam to burst the bodies of humans who contained but a small fraction of her blood elevated her status from fear to reverence.
“Holy shit. No wonder Repenters are used by the Nexus. You can control them.” Horus gasped for air, suffocating in Frost’s suddenly overwhelming presence. “At the very least it doesn’t work on the general populace. If that was the case, then… forget it. I’ll stick to imagining what you might be. I feel like hearing it from you will completely fuck my mind.”
Horus was not aware that [Wrath: Rupture] worked on any living person so long as they lacked RESIST and DEF stats. Neither was Morgause aware of the sheer extent of Frost’s Blood Manipulation powers.
“That is the Amalgam. Need she say more? If she speaks, then we ought to listen. It’s nourishment for the mind, blood and soul.” Morgause solemnly lowered her head as Frost passed them.
It was better that they were left in the dark. Otherwise, if word were to come out that Frost could do more than just manipulate blood as the Progenitor, then it was possible that the Impuritas would catch wind of it.
Then, it was only a matter of time before they’d come up with countermeasures.
Her casual strides were suddenly draped with elegance. She could vaguely spot the faint light of the Corrupted shimmering in the center of the stage.
Given that no one else had mentioned this, it was safe to assume that she could only see this, no doubt thanks to her Heart of Judgement.
“Do you see it as well, Horus?”
“The ‘Fairy’? Clearly. Not as vibrant as what people carry in their hearts when they’re exposed to the Voice Beyond the Void, or when they degrade into Shells. But, any spark of light will look bright when there’s nothing to compare.”
The story has been taken without consent; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.
“Right. You were able to detect the presence of the Healer twins with that eye as well. When they became Shells.”
“You give me too much credit. It’s more basic than you think. I can only visualize emotional turmoil in the air. Ergo, Nex. 20 years ago, after G-Z7, Oboros Infinitas had me working to the bone as a hound to sniff out large concentrations of Nex. You know, from people who have or are on the brink of Corrupting. Not surprising that they sent me to spearhead Eclipse assassinations before Corrupting became an acceptable practice.”
Horus kept her exchange to the minimum as Frost placed pressure on the wall of glass. Merely leaning onto it caused the entire wall to bend. The entire Reception groaned as rivets larger than five meters flew onto the stage like ballista arrows.
“It’s better to let them Corrupt or intervene than to kill them before they Corrupt. There’s a non-zero chance that they’ll become Blessed as well.”
“Partners of Descartes Four mentioned something along the lines of shooting their own foot. Corruption is valuable to the Nexus. One Blessed out of a thousand that Corrupt isn’t a bad deal.” Morgause commented. “But I should keep my mouth shut now. The Amalgam is at work.”

The frame holding the glass in place broke long before the glass itself did.
Frost analyzed this glass, curious as to what it was.
Alpha Grade Glass
< An Alpha grade material created by a fallen Atelier. Used to withstand significant pressure. Currently used by Caldera Industries to create their Construction Blends >
“Caldera Industries’ tech is solely based on gravity manipulation. I was under the impression that their construction blends were from highly condensed forms of metal, pulverized then used to create alloys and special concrete.”
< Dwarhelven is a large Region. Caldera Industries was not the only Atelier to have formed there. From what I gather, aspects of this Fallen Atelier’s tech were absorbed into Caldera Industries >
“Surely, the Minu Auditors would have figured that out by now. But then again, we haven’t properly reestablished communication with the other Branches. The Minu Auditors are still busy with local Atelier Branches. Notably, the extent of Act X in the coming days. Just in time for my visit. Morgause. You guys. Take this before I head in.”
With the glass completely removed from the walls, Frost erected a [Light Barrier] and granted the others a [Protection Ward] in case the Corrupted turned its attention to them.
“You don’t think it’ll be an iddy biddy Monsoon Corrupted?” Horus was confused as to why Frost was doing this. In her mind she was overpreparing for what was a straightforward fight.
However, because this was a Main Sequence Corrupted, it contained valuable knowledge in its utterings and now, thanks to [Analyze Skill], its Skills would reveal even more information.
“Trickle or not, I’m going to prioritize gathering information. I don’t want to make the same mistake again.” Frost explained.
“Mistake?” Horus wondered.
“Lull-A-Goodbye. Or, uuhhh… Yeah, that’s the one. I think? I wasn’t there.” Jury blurted out.
“Mal?” Joy wanted to follow Frost, but Jury kept her wrapped with her tail, ensuring that she wouldn’t run into trouble.
“It won’t be long.” Frost assured Joy with a headpat.
Afterwards, and with a small confirming nod to Jury, she hopped into the stage.
She fell thirty meters into the massive chamber and landed with grace. It appeared this way because the chamber was utterly spotless, aside from the broken glass from the shattered Alpha Grade Glass.
The pit contained numerous archways that led into three of the Fifth Level’s sublevels, Multiple wide staircases ran around in a spiral like the threading of a screw. The stage itself was easily over three hundred meters wide: far wider than it initially appeared from above as it was narrower.
Hundreds of misplaced props were laid around, undisturbed by even the ministrations of the Site itself.
“Alpha Grade Glass doesn’t follow any naming conventions we know of. Got an Atelier in mind, Nav?”
Just as Frost took the first step forward, an eerily familiar voice spoke to her from an unidentifiable source.
“Alpha Grade Glass… Query, unknown.”
“Unknown.”
“Unknown. Unknown. Unknown. Unknown.”
“Intruder detected… initiating autonomous defensive protocols. Code Yellow.”
