Nine Star Hegemon Body Arts-Chapter 5978 Seventy-Two Divine Peaks
Chapter 5978 Seventy-Two Divine Peaks
The mountain lord had spoken.
After Long Chen disappeared, the Sovereign Lords eyed the large hole in Bi Tu’s chest. Seeing the venom in his eyes, they silently shook their heads.
“Long Chen? That legendary fellow? He actually came to Sovereign Mountain?”
“Well, things were just starting to settle down. Looks like the chaos is about to start all over again.”
“Let’s see. His arrival will definitely reignite the conflict between the Bi and Luo families.”
The various Sovereign Lords sighed. Originally, they had hoped this new Spirit Awakener would be someone they could pull into their faction. Instead, they ended up seeing something completely shocking. A Heaven Saint disciple struck back against a Sovereign Lord Elder, almost killing them.
“Bi Tu, are you alright?” asked someone.
Some of the Bi family’s experts rushed over to support the tottering elder. He looked like he might collapse at any moment, and their expressions were equally grim.
“That brat is vicious. He really dared to try and kill me. If the mountain lord hadn’t intervened...” Bi Tu shook his head, a glimmer of fear flickering in his eyes.
Back then, his rage had eclipsed his fear of death. He hadn’t believed Long Chen would actually dare to kill him, but he was still prepared to risk everything. If Long Chen did kill him, the Bi family would pounce on that opening, and Long Chen would pay with his life.
But the courage to face death was often fleeting. Only a few exceptional experts could remain truly fearless once the heat of the moment had cooled.
“Report this to the family head. That brat from the Luo family has arrived. We must demand an explanation from them,” said a Sovereign Lord coldly.
Bi Tu nodded and vanished along with that person.
Just then, two more Sovereign Lords appeared.
“You’re too late. It’s already over,” said one elder. “Long Chen’s been summoned by the mountain lord. Go back to the Luo family and prepare yourselves.”
These two were from the Luo family. They had sensed the disturbance late, and by the time they arrived, the crowd was already dispersing.
Upon hearing what had happened, the two exchanged grave looks and quickly left.
Everyone else followed. In the blink of an eye, the area was empty—except for a stunned crowd of experts below, standing there in dumbfounded silence.
To them, Sovereign Lords were legendary figures they would never witness in their entire lives. Yet today, over ten had appeared at once.
And Long Chen... he had nearly killed one of the Sovereign Lords with a single move. The shock left the onlookers unable to recover their composure.
Those who had once envied or cursed Long Chen now felt uneasy. They had just cursed a god-like figure. That alone felt like blasphemy.
...
Huang Xuan led Long Chen to a high platform that overlooked the vast mountain range. From here, the violet clouds stretched like a boundless sea, and the peaks below rose like islands from its surface. It was a mystical, otherworldly scene.
There was a small veranda on the platform, and Huang Xuan gestured for Long Chen to sit.
“This is the halfway point up Sovereign Mountain’s main peak,” Huang Xuan explained. “From here, you can see all seventy-two peaks. Each of them is its own world. But among them, four peaks stand above the rest. Not only are they the largest, but they also hold the richest karmic luck.”
“So they belong to the four main families?” guessed Long Chen.
Huang Xuan nodded. “These four peaks belong to the Huang, Quan, Bi, and Luo families. The remaining peaks belong to other branches, though some are now empty. It’s been several months since Sovereign Mountain reappeared. Word should have spread across the nine heavens... but some families still haven’t returned.”
Huang Xuan couldn’t help but sigh. For them to not have returned, it was very likely that they had been eradicated.
“I’ll leave you here,” Huang Xuan added. “Just follow the veranda forward and you’ll reach the mountain lord’s residence. Take care of yourself. The mountain lord is wise and fair—someone truly worthy of respect and trust.”
He gave Long Chen’s shoulder a reassuring pat before departing.
Long Chen walked on alone, overlooking the sprawling mountain range below. His gaze swept over the divine peaks, and from four of them, he felt faint, familiar auras.
Then he paused mid-step, staring at the scene.
One island was one world. But so what? Where there were people, there was struggle, competition, and killing. Even in a paradise like this, there was no escaping that truth.
Was it really possible for a peaceful utopia to exist?
People always said it was peaceful under the shade of a great tree. But if too many sought that same shade, could peace really last?
Suddenly, Long Chen thought of Xie Wanyi—a spirited, determined woman full of life and fire. He couldn’t help but smile bitterly. Had his own convictions grown weaker than hers?
She had come to Sovereign Mountain to continue the will of her ancestors. She bore the humiliation they had suffered and vowed to wash it away. She fought to protect the violet blood race and was prepared to die on the battlefield at any moment. And here he was... looking for shelter, a moment of rest.
“She really is an adorable girl,” Long Chen murmured.
“How so?”
A calm voice rang out from beside him. Long Chen turned in shock.
A tall woman stood there, her long hair tied in a high ponytail. Her features were sharp, as if carved by a blade. She looked around thirty, and her expression was utterly tranquil, like an ancient, rippleless well.
She was even taller than Long Chen by a couple of inches, and her deep eyes stared in the same direction as his—the divine peak belonging to the Luo family.
Her voice was neither cold nor warm. It wasn’t strict or commanding. It was like an ordinary person asking a simple question.
And yet, Long Chen couldn’t sense her presence—not even her aura or violet blood fluctuations. It was as if she were one with the air itself. Clearly, her realm was far beyond his.
Not even Bai Shu or Yan Yang could have approached him without triggering his senses. This woman... could only be the mountain lord.
However, the mountain lord didn’t face Long Chen. She waited quietly for his answer.
“It’s a matter of perspective. What I feel is adorable might not be adorable for Senior. For example, I feel like Bi Tu is hateful, and I wanted to kill him, but Senior clearly disagrees, so you stopped me,” replied Long Chen mildly.
“If it’s a matter of perspective,” she said softly, “how do you know I don’t think he’s hateful?”
She finally turned to look at Long Chen, her gaze seemingly seeing right through him. In front of her, it was like no one could hide any secrets.
Her question left Long Chen baffled, and he stared at her blankly.
