Chapter 21 -21: Install Some Precious Treasure into the Brain
Song Xingyu coughed, “We may bicker and cause a fuss normally, but during class, can’t we keep it down? Those who want to sleep, sleep; those who want to watch videos, put in your earphones. That’s fine, isn’t it?”
“Bro Xing, what’s this about? You’ve changed your ways?” someone teased.
“We’re in our senior year, don’t you get it?” Song Xingyu emphasized.
“But anyway, we can’t get into any good colleges, so what does it matter whether we’re seniors or not?”
Everyone in this class had extremely poor grades, and the reason they could even attend First High was largely because their families either had connections or money; they’d just pay to go to college abroad and add a layer of gold.
Song Xingyu banged the desk hard: “I don’t care, when I say no, I mean no.”
And everyone actually quieted down.
No one ever dared to ignore Song Xingyu’s words.
As he walked past Si Qing, Si Qing said softly, “Thanks.”
Song Xingyu ignored him.
Si Qing handed out the test papers to everyone.
The overall performance of the unnamed class wasn’t good, but when it came to Jiang Zhe, one look and he was still shocked.
Mathematics, 12 points; Physics, 10 points.
Despite the bad reputation of the unnamed class in First High, they were only exiled at the end of junior year or beginning of senior year; they had some foundational knowledge, and their families were also stuffing them with cram courses. Getting passing grades wasn’t a problem.
Xiao Meng and Xia Enci’s grades weren’t particularly good, but they were still decent.
Song Xingyu looked at his own test paper, one ninety and one seventy, just barely above the passing line.
Gu Jiashun called him, “Song Xingyu, let’s get some fresh air outside.”
Song Xingyu stood up and walked out with Gu Jiashun.
“What are you doing? Creating a study environment for Jiang Zhe?” Gu Jiashun asked.
“Old Gu, why are you so heated? Didn’t you say before that Jiang Zhe flirting with your brother was utterly disgraceful? I think Four-Eyes’ glasses should be lent to you.”
“I advise you to leave Jiang Zhe alone!” Gu Jiashun didn’t know where this temper of his came from.
“Old Gu, old Gu, if I really could provoke Jiang Zhe, wouldn’t that lighten your load? You wouldn’t have to worry about someone stealing your brother away.”
Gu Jiashun didn’t know what to say for a moment.
Song Xingyu shrugged, “No worries, I’m going back to do more practice.”
When Jiang Zhe and Xiao Meng entered the classroom, they wondered if they had gone to the wrong place.
The whole class was very quiet, although this quietness came from many people playing with their phones in secret and others dozing off.
Xiao Meng tiptoed to her seat and sat down.
Jiang Zhe, unconcerned, took out his book and started reading.
Song Xingyu brought his own problems to Jiang Zhe, “I’ve practiced so many.”
Jiang Zhe glanced over them, finding the errors quite uniquely his own.
“Give me another one,” Song Xingyu reached out his hand.
Jiang Zhe picked out another book from his desk and handed it to him.
“I’ll finish it today!”
Four-Eyes said in a low voice, “Bro Xing, weren’t you going to play ball with Shun? He got mad because you didn’t show up yesterday.”
“Who’s playing ball? It’s senior year! Take this one, I’ve finished it, you go and practice!”
Four-Eyes took it with a troubled look on his face.
The first to teach today was the physics teacher, who was old and not as energetic anymore, almost ready for retirement.
He came to the unnamed class filled with a sentiment of frustrated expectations, worrying every day about their unwillingness to learn.
He walked in, stepped back out to check the door number outside, then entered again with a hint of doubt.
Although some students sneaked in a nap or played with their phones, at last there were indeed some who listened to the lecture attentively, and he felt gratified.
Xiao Meng always had a strong foundation, so once the environment settled down, she listened to the lectures seriously and took diligent notes.
Xia Enci usually had little interest in listening to the classes, but seeing Xiao Meng and Jiang Zhe paying attention, she decided to join them.
By the end of the day, the teachers who visited the unnamed class left with smiles on their faces.
Lou Qiaoyin specifically brought over basic practice questions for Jiang Zhe, Xiao Meng, and Xia Enci, “I have selected these practice questions based on your recent quiz scores. Take a look for yourself, and revise and improve according to your actual situation.”
“Thank you, Teacher Lou!” Xiao Meng and Xia Enci obediently took the questions, with Xiao Meng also picking up Jiang Zhe’s.
Jiang Zhe flipped through them and saw that her questions were relatively simple, classic types—thorough review and practice would ensure she could score as highly as possible on the foundational questions.
Lou Qiaoyin had really put in a lot of effort.
She also expressed her thanks.
“Don’t thank me, every point counts.”
She knew that the family situations of these children were different from the other students, with few options available to them.
“What about mine, Teacher Lou?” Song Xingyu asked.
“Yours? Okay, when you’re free, come to my office, and I will prepare a set of special topics for you. Anyone else want one?” Lou Qiaoyin asked.
A few hands were raised intermittently, and Song Xingyu glanced back at them sternly, so, with that, a few more hands went up amongst those who had been watching movies and horsing around.
Lou Qiaoyin was very pleased, “Later, let Si Qing and Song Xingyu come to my office to bring the practice questions for everyone. I know you all have your own choices and ways out, but regardless, the knowledge you’re acquiring now is a valuable asset.”
“Yes, madam!” Song Xingyu escorted Lou Qiaoyin out.
Turning back to face the group, Song Xingyu saw several people looking bored, “Xingyu, didn’t you say that doing practice questions is the most boring thing? Are you writing the questions for us?”
“Can’t you guys store a little more ‘valuable assets’ in your brains?” asked Song Xingyu.
…
In the afternoon after school, everyone rushed toward the cafeteria.
Jiang Zhe leisurely packed up her things and headed in that direction, with Xiao Meng and Xia Enci following her.
Song Xingyu instructed Four-Eyes, “Hurry to the cafeteria and save a few seats.”
After getting their food, Xiao Meng and Xia Enci spotted Song Xingyu waving, “There are seats over here.”
The cafeteria was packed; empty seats were a rare commodity.
“There are seats by Song Xingyu,” Xia Enci hurried toward that direction.
Jiang Zhe followed their lead as well.

“Jiang Zhe, take a seat.” Song Xingyu passed her chopsticks, a paper napkin, “Coke, bought it for you.”
“What about us?” asked Xia Enci.
“Of course, you have some too, take it from Four-Eyes.”
Four-Eyes handed Xiao Meng and Xia Enci their cans of Coke.
“That’s more like it. You guys really snagged a good spot, otherwise, I’d have had to take my food back to the dorm to eat.”
“We’re quick on our feet. From now on, don’t worry about meals; I’ll always have a spot saved for you.”
…
“Fanyue, sit here!” A boy called out to Jiang Fanyue.
Jiang Fanyue walked over, saying demurely, “Thank you for saving me a seat.”
“You rarely eat at the cafeteria, so you don’t know how hard it is to find a spot here. Around meal times, it’s even more crowded than the Spring Festival travel rush. If you come late, you can’t even get any good dishes,” a girl explained to her.
