Chapter 43 -43 Starting Off on the Wrong Foot Becomes a Joke
Xun Liya discovered traces left behind on the next sheet of paper from pen marks that had bled through a previously used white sheet, revealing two incredibly exquisite designs.

She immediately redrew the designs based on those traces, though the styles weren’t the stunningly innovative kind seen on the runway. They were, however, rather daily wear, perfectly suitable for young girls to wear to semi-formal occasions.
The designs she presented indeed won over everyone in the Jiang Family, and she confidently used them.
Now, she was at a loss for words to refute the accusations of plagiarism!
Even if she did speak out, who would believe her? She had only just remembered that it must have been the Jiang Family’s former designer who had stayed at their home and left those things behind!
And after leaving the Jiang Family, that former designer must have gone to Joy!
All things considered, it still amounted to her having plagiarized designs from Joy!
Seeing Xun Liya speechless, Jiang Fanyue spoke with a stern face, “Designer Xu, there’s no need for you to stay with the Jiang Family. Feel free to seek opportunities elsewhere.”
Liang Jinlan never expected that the designer they had finally brought back would cause such a major blunder!
She was utterly disgusted by Xun Liya.
Thinking of all the clothes that had to be destroyed before they could even be released, she felt even more pained.
Jiang Fanyue quickly adjusted her mindset, “I’m sorry everyone, we too were deceived by the designer which led to tonight’s situation. Nevertheless, it was our lack of thorough review that allowed this incident to occur. I sincerely apologize to all of you and ask for your forgiveness. Jiang Zhe, Xiao Meng, Lin Xue, I apologize to you as well!”
She bore the shame and faced Jiang Zhe to apologize.
Chi Feng, adjusting his cufflinks, said, “If apologies were useful, what would we need the law for? Miss Jiang, I am waiting for your compensation!”
“President Chi!” Jiang Zhang and Liang Jinlan still wanted to make amends.
Chi Feng ignored them completely, and the couple’s faces turned as ashen as death, filled with both anger and regret.
Chi Feng approached Jiang Zhe and asked, “Last time you came to pick up clothes, why didn’t you say anything to me? How can we neglect our esteemed Miss like that?”
“It’s troublesome,” Jiang Zhe replied, her tone indifferent.
“Alright, next time it’s not too much trouble, come and sit for a while,” Chi Feng said with a light laugh, “Well, if there’s nothing else, I’ll be on my way.”
“Suit yourself.”
Chi Feng was used to her attitude, waved his hand, and left.
Jiang Zhang and Liang Jinlan watched numbly as Chi Feng and Jiang Zhe conversed amicably. Slowly, regret began to well up in their hearts.
“Jiang Zhe, can you accept my apology?” Jiang Fanyue asked, not giving up hope.
In front of everyone, she refrained from calling her “sister”—she still didn’t want more outsiders to know about her relationship with Jiang Zhe.
“Ask Chi Feng’s lawyer,” Jiang Zhe gave her a sharp reply, her eyes devoid of emotion, and lazily said to Xiao Meng, “Let’s go.”
Qin Jingchen and Fen Ye followed in their footsteps.
Lin Xue had suffered such a grievance; though it wasn’t her fault, the entertainment industry was a place rife with controversy and gossip, and who knows how many people would be picking her apart.
“Miss Jiang, we won’t be accompanying you tonight,” Lin Xue said, then left with her manager.
“Sorry, Miss Lin,” Jiang Fanyue clenched her fists till her knuckles went white as cracks began to show on her face.
Tonight was supposed to be her shining moment, with the fashion reveal as a crowning touch. But instead, she experienced a rough start, turning it into a massive embarrassment.
She could already envision the criticism the Jiang Family was going to face.
“Fanyue, let it go,” Gu Jiaheng came over and whispered to comfort her, “I’ll talk to Lin Xue. She won’t blame you. Right now, the priority is the piano competition.”
His consolation finally allowed Jiang Fanyue to snap out of her recent state of mind, reinvigorated, “Brother Jiaheng, I understand. About what happened just now with sister, I’m truly sorry. I really had no idea Xun Liya was such a person.”
“It’s okay, it’s not your fault. Don’t take it to heart.”
“Mm,” Jiang Fanyue responded gently, “I’m so glad you’re by my side, or I really wouldn’t know what to do.”
With Gu Jiaheng’s comforting words, Jiang Zhang and Liang Jinlan also calmed down.
The three of them walked inside together, where Master Yue was waiting for them.
Seeing Master Yue, Jiang Fanyue’s mood finally returned to normal, even as whispers about the Jiang Family’s fashion plagiarism swirled around them, she didn’t take them to heart.
Jiang Zhe and Xiao Meng had front row seats, which Song Xingyu had reserved for them well in advance.
“Also, as per Jiang Zhe’s request, I’ve reserved two extra spots. Where are your friends?” asked Song Xingyu.
As he finished speaking, he looked up and saw Qin Jingchen and Fen Ye.
Song Xingyu rubbed his eyes to make sure he wasn’t seeing things and immediately stammered, “Qin, Qin, Qin Jingchen?”
“Take a seat,” Qin Jingchen said with a gentle tone, devoid of any pretense, and Song Xingyu knew better than to think he was someone easily provoked, despite his easygoing appearance.
He hurriedly sat down properly.
“What, don’t you recognize me?” Fen Ye asked with raised eyebrows.
“Brother Fen,” Song Xingyu replied, the pressure feeling slightly less intense.
Jiang Zhe, surprised, raised his eyebrows: “You know each other?”
“Song Xingyu, his father, and brother used to work in Beijing and followed me,” Fen Ye explained, “Later they were transferred to Jincheng. So you’re at Number One Middle School now.”
Song Xingyu glanced at Jiang Zhe, then at Qin Jingchen, suspicion in his mind.
The group took their seats.
Fen Ye placed a box of cherries, encased in a glass container, beside Jiang Zhe: “Sister-in-law, these are for you.”
Upon hearing the words “sister-in-law,” Song Xingyu almost lost his seat.
Who else could be called brother-in-law by Fen Ye, and be whose companion?
His heart suddenly felt like ashes, knowing he had no chance.
Jiang Zhe opened the box, took a glance, then handed it to Xiao Meng and the others, “You guys eat.”
Xia Enci wasn’t surprised to see Qin Jingchen; she had already heard a lot from her mother.
Being quite familiar, she opened the fruit box and stuffed cherries into her mouth: “These are delicious! They’re better than any cherries I’ve ever had. Xiaozhe, try some!”
“You guys eat,” Jiang Zhe repeated.
Fen Ye muttered to himself, those were of course delicious, having been airfreighted from the world’s best cherry orchard just half an hour ago, the best trees with the finest fruits, rushed over to him, freshness and sweetness guaranteed.
If it weren’t for the earlier commotion, they would have arrived even fresher in Jiang Zhe’s hands.
But, regrettably, his eager gesture didn’t even earn a glance from Jiang Zhe.
Where did he go wrong? He knew that Jiang Zhe’s favorite fruit was cherries, as he had arranged them a few times for Brother Qin!
“Try these,” Qin Jingchen said, taking out another glass box and handing it to Jiang Zhe.
It was a box of cherries, too.
Fen Ye: “…”
Where did those come from? How hadn’t he seen them being prepared?
