Omega Summoner-Chapter 2430: Goddess of the Winter Hunt

While Adrian and the others took care of the preparations for the approaching primordial beasts, Frey managed to almost reach the summit of the mountain that she was climbing. It is not just the sudden snowstorm that impeded her on the way but also the terrain becoming unforgiving. The winds that blew on the mountain became harsher and harsher as she came near the summit.

If she did not stab her spear on the ground for stability, then she would have been blown away by the fierce winter winds. She even got some stab and cuts due to sharp blades of ice hitting her as hail became frequent as well. The hail that hit her was not normal as the shape of the ice projectiles was not even circular but looked like sharp bullets. Frey had to actively use her own mana to make her skin tougher in order to reduce the effects of the hail.

The climb up is not just perilous as she also gained some insights in how to use mana. She also learned to mix some of the divine energy she has with her own mana. This created a special armor that covered her body like a divine aura when she summons the Goddess Freyja to her body. This did make her quite exhausted by the time she could see the summit of the mountain.

"Just a little more!" Frey muttered to herself as she finally arrived with sheer determination and visible exhaustion.

Frey managed to reach the summit of the mountain where there is actually a flat platform with an engraving. The mountain itself still has a peak but there was a small place in that peak where an engraved platform is located. Unlike the entire peak that is covered in ice and snow, the engraved platform is clean from the effects of the cold. It was like it was a domain that can never be touched by the effects of winter itself.

Frey looked at the messages that she received and gulped as she already knew who the Goddess of the Winter Hunt was. The Goddess of the Winter Hunt is none other than the Goddess Skadi. She already has her notions that she will battle a goddess of winter since the mountain itself was called the Holy Winter Mountain. The Goddess Skadi is somewhat different to some of the Norse Gods that she knows as she is actually a giantess as well as a goddess.

Frey herself is not confident in winning against a Norse giantess as they are said to tower humans as if they were the skies themselves. If Frey fights against a giant enemy, then even she does not know if she can withstand the pressure emitted by one. Still, Frey knows that everyone is counting on her to gain the favor of a goddess that once helped the kingdom of the Ice Queen Elona.

The howl of wolves suddenly echoed in the area as wolves suddenly surrounded the engraved platform that Frey is standing on. The wolves themselves did not possess any killing intent for Frey as they merely looked and observed her with interest. The wolves then showed themselves more and surrounded Frey as she noticed one that is slightly bigger than the others.

A wolf that has silver blue fur that glistened like ice stood before Frey. The silver blue wolf did not do anything to Frey and merely sniffed her. Frey remained standing still and did not even drew her weapon because she is now being tested by the wolf before her. This silver blue wolf is a monster that has been blessed by the Goddess Skadi as Frey could feel the divine energy permeating from it.

"AWOOH!" The silver blue wolf howled which also made the other wolves howl in unison.

The melodious howl of the wolves calmed the snowstorm in the area that was not protected by the engraved platform. When the snowstorm vanished, the light of the sun finally shone and pierced the dark clouds above which revealed the detailed engravements of the platform. The platform is engraved with wolves and a mighty goddess leading them in a hunt.

As soon as the Winter Wolf King acknowledged Frey, it walked out of the engraved platform. The winds suddenly blew fierce for a moment, and the entire mountain looked like it moved. A tempest of snow suddenly converged onto the engraved platform to create a figure of a woman. The snow became ice, and the ice became flesh as the Goddess of the Winter Hunt Skadi appeared before Frey.

Once the notification appeared, all of the wolves including the Winter Wolf King bowed in reverence for the goddess that appeared before them. Frey bowed to the Goddess Skadi as well as it is only right to give it to the being that is respected in the mountain. The first trial was harsh, but Frey knew that she would be saved if she were to truly be in danger. The Goddess Skadi observed because she needed to know when to intervene should Frey truly be in danger.

"Greetings, Child of Freyja. Why have you sought for me?" The Goddess Skadi asked as her voice was beautiful but felt chilly like winter.

The Goddess of the Winter Hunt Skadi manifested in the form a beautiful woman with a light blue skin tone. She wore thick and furry armor that would protect anyone from the cold. Her armor has runes written on them that glowed in a silver blue light. She also wore a heavy and thick robe that would repel the cold itself.

The most striking feature of the Goddess of the Winter Hunt Skadi are her eyes that is the color of ice itself in its bluest form. Her hair also is a bit different as it as platinum blonde with white tips as it has been said that the Goddess of the Winter Hunt Skadi is part giantess, but some would translate it as Jotunn. The Goddess of the Winter Hunt Skadi looked like she had the blood of an Asmodian as Frey could feel that she has the same presence as Adrian.

"Hail and Joy! I greet the Goddess of the Winter Hunt Skadi. I am Frey, Valkyrie of the Goddess Freyja." Frey stated as she did the warrior's salute and showed her hand that she uses to hold her weapon.

"Your greeting is received well, Child of Freyja. You have passed my tests of getting a meeting from me. Still, I did not expect that the Winter Wolf King that I have blessed to have taken quite a liking to you. She usually does not like others, but she felt drawn to you and I now know the reason why. You have the scent of a Fenrir attached to your clothes." The Goddess of the Winter Hunt Skadi stated.

Frey suddenly remembered that she cuddled with Sirius when Adrian arrived as she missed the fluffy feeling. She does not want to say it, but she actually has a favorite amongst Adrian's soulbound. She always wanted another mount that can be used in land, but one player can only have one mount at a time if they are not a summoner.

"Is that so? One of my close acquaintances has a Fenrir for a soulbound. He is actually quite attached to me as well since we have joined each other to battle mighty foes. After all, battles make the bond stronger as it is one of the creeds of the sisterhood." Frey stated.

"Regardless of how easy you passed the second trial; you have earned the right to speak to me. Why did not ascend my mountain, Child of Freyja?" The Goddess of the Winter Hunt Skadi asked.

"We need your help in killing the Primordial Beast of Frozen Tundra. The Primordial Beast of Frozen Tundra is now working with another primordial beast or rather is being controlled by it. We need your help in subduing the fiercest primordial beast of the northern continent." Frey stated with resolve as her warrior's spirit emerged contrary to the girl that spoke softly earlier.

"What you ask is not simple, Child of Freyja. You are asking me to interfere with the world of the mortals. Do you know the burden that will befall me should I do what you asked?" The Goddess of the Winter Hunt stated as the mountain itself suddenly became quiet, and the pressure exuded by her exponentially increased.

"I am aware which is why I am ready to engage in combat to have my wish be granted." Frey stated with resolve as she met the eye of the Goddess of the Winter Hunt Skadi.
