One Piece: I'm Destined to Be the Son-in-Law King!-Chapter 168: Should We Change the Seven Warlords of the Sea to Eight Warlords?
Chapter 168 - Should We Change the Seven Warlords of the Sea to Eight Warlords?
Three days later, at the G-1 Fortress.
"Rear Admiral Roya is back!"
The simple message vibrated through the entire branch. Marines from every division poured out, rushing toward the port, eager to welcome back the 11th Division.
Slowly, the fortress's massive main gate swung open.
Normally, a division's warship returning would only merit the opening of a side gate. The main gate was reserved for significant events or to greet important figures.
As the 11th Division's warship pulled into dock, Roya appeared, his officers standing proudly beside him.
Every Marine at the port snapped to attention. They stood as straight as boards, greeting him like a returning hero.
Such a show of respect was rare, even when an Admiral arrived. This time, however, the Marines had come on their own, wanting to offer their welcome.
"Rear Admiral Roya, you've done a great job!"
"Mm."
Roya simply nodded slightly in response.
Surrounded by the Marines' respectful attention, Roya and a few officers quickly headed for the Base Chief's office.
Vice Admiral Momonga had been waiting for quite some time.
Without wasting any time on formalities, Momonga walked up to Roya and gave him a salute--his very first salute to Roya.
Roya returned the salute.
A smile spread across Momonga's face.
While the incident had caused quite a stir, Roya's success in bringing his subordinates back unharmed from an encounter with a Four Emperor greatly boosted the Marines' reputation.
Without a doubt, this was a major victory for the Marines!
"Please, have a seat. You did remarkably well this time!"
"Thank you, Vice Admiral."
Roya settled onto the sofa.
Momonga sat across from him at the coffee table. After a moment of thought, he began, "Regarding the matter of recruiting Fire Fist Ace to join the Seven Warlords of the Sea, I must apologize. It was indeed an oversight on my part."
"Mm, it's good you realize you messed up."
Roya nodded, a look of satisfaction on his face.
I was actually planning to report you, but seeing your sincere attitude, I'll be merciful and let you off the hook.
Momonga was speechless.
That little rascal hadn't changed at all!
Momonga wore a helpless expression.
He knew he was in the wrong this time. He truly hadn't expected Roya to chase after Ace all the way to the Whitebeard Pirates' headquarters, going so far as to fight Whitebeard himself, just to get Ace to accept the Warlord title.
Someone's still a little grumpy!
After a few polite words, Roya straightened his face and said seriously, "Vice Admiral Momonga, I have a small request that I hope you can help with."
"Speak freely. If it's within my power, I won't refuse."
Momonga didn't hesitate.
Since Roya had arrived at the G-1 Branch, despite causing a fair amount of trouble, he had also made significant contributions, bringing a lot of prestige to G-1.
He deserves praise!
Roya rubbed his hands together.
"I'd like to be transferred to the G-5 Branch!"
"G-5?"
Momonga wasn't surprised. He had, in fact, already guessed Roya's intentions. "You want to become the Base Chief of the G-5 Branch?"
"Yes."
Roya admitted it directly.
It would have been inappropriate to request a transfer so soon after arriving at G-1, but now that half a year had passed and he'd been promoted to Rear Admiral, it was the right time to take up a position at G-5.
Only at G-5 would he have real authority.
Momonga said in a deep voice, "Roya, I can approve your transfer to the G-5 Branch, but with your current merits, it's not enough for a promotion to Vice Admiral."
"Mm, that's fine."
Roya understood perfectly.
Although fighting Whitebeard had brought positive attention to the Marines, the battle was an unexpected incident and couldn't be counted as military merit.
As for recruiting Ace, it was just a small errand to deliver a message, offering limited credit, and Ace might not even become one of the Seven Warlords.
Momonga nodded slightly.
Since Roya had thought it through, he had nothing more to say. The G-1 Branch needed stability, and Roya staying with him wasn't ideal.
"How about this? After the New Year, you can take up your post at the G-5 Branch. I'll discuss it with Vice Admiral Maynard."
As the Base Chief, he had the authority to handle the transfer of his subordinates without needing permission from Headquarters, but that was only if the G-5 Branch was willing to accept him.
Maynard shouldn't be a problem.
"Thank you, Vice Admiral!"
Roya smiled brightly.
"Oh, right, Vice Admiral Momonga, I also plan to take the entire 11th Division with me. Is that alright?"
"..."
Momonga's face darkened.
It was one thing for Smoker and that group of Rogue Marines to leave; he didn't care about them. But Hina was his outstanding subordinate. Few officers could compare to Hina when it came to handling matters.
How could I have been so foolish as to let Hina follow this kid and run wild!
"As long as they're willing!"
----
After waiting at the G-1 Branch for three days, Roya received a summons from above. He immediately led his trusted subordinates to follow Vice Admiral Momonga to Marine Headquarters.
They rode the Bubble elevator up to the Holy Land Mariejois, passed through the Marine Dedicated Passage outside the Holy Land, and then took another Bubble elevator down.
Yamato looked at Pangea Castle with curiosity.
"What a magnificent castle!"
"That's not a good place."
Roya also glanced at Pangea Castle, his mood turning sour. He wondered how many bones were buried beneath that Holy Land.

"Let's go."
"Okay!"
The group hurried past the Holy Land, not stopping for a moment.
Roya didn't want to run into any Celestial Dragons and make himself sick. He wasn't strong enough to fight them yet.
Half an hour later, they arrived at Marine Headquarters.
Dozens of Headquarters Vice Admirals and Rear Admirals were gathered in the Conference Room. The three Admirals were also present. When Roya entered the Conference Room, everyone turned to look at him.
"Is that Black Hair?"
"He's so young!"
"They say this kid's combat talent is comparable to Rob Lucci."
Scrutiny, envy, dissatisfaction...
Various emotions filled the room.
Roya calmly took his seat, with Smoker and Hina standing behind him. The rest of his subordinates waited in the Lounge.
"Now that everyone's here, let's begin."
Marshal Sengoku spoke calmly, "The reason for summoning you all this time is regarding Fire Fist Ace becoming one of the Seven Warlords of the Sea."
Fire Fist Ace had agreed to join the Seven Warlords, but the problem was that the last spot had already been filled not long ago, which meant there was no room for Ace.
In short, it was a mess.
Many Vice Admirals looked at Momonga. Momonga had been responsible for recruiting Fire Fist, so he should take the blame for such a big mistake.
Momonga remained silent, his face dark.
He had already admitted his mistake to Sengoku. The purpose of this meeting wasn't to assign blame, but to find a way to make room for Fire Fist.
Without a doubt, Fire Fist had incredible fighting strength and potential.
Gaining Fire Fist would greatly benefit the Marines. On the other hand, rejecting Fire Fist would not only lose a powerful fighter but also push him to become an enemy of the Marines.
Anyone would know which choice to make.
But the problem was, there was no spot available!
This was what troubled the Marines.
Just as everyone was at a loss, Roya calmly stood up. When everyone looked at him, he spoke.
"I have a suggestion. Why not change the Seven Warlords of the Sea system to Eight Warlords of the Sea? That would solve the problem!"
"..."
Everyone was stunned.
Is this guy serious?
"What? Is it not possible?"
"Of course not!"
Onigumo shouted, "The Seven Warlords of the Sea system was established by the World Government and has been in place for twenty years. It can't be changed so easily!"
"It can't be changed."
Roya clapped his hands together as if suddenly understanding something.
"Since the Seven Warlords of the Sea system can't be changed, then the matter is simple. There are now eight Seven Warlords of the Sea, so we just need to kill one, right?"
Kill one?
Does he think he's just slaughtering a pig?
The Vice Admirals looked at Roya, and couldn't help but remember the rumors about him. It seemed this kid really was a crazy fellow.
No wonder he dared to provoke even Whitebeard!
