One Piece: I'm Destined to Be the Son-in-Law King!-Chapter 189: Kaido: Become My Son-in-Law!
Chapter 189 - Kaido: Become My Son-in-Law!
The battlefield was a wreck, a scene of utter destruction.
"What's happening? Am I seeing things?"

"That kid with the black hair is radiating Conqueror's Haki!"
Kaido definitely felt it - the boy's Haki was different, stronger. But he couldn't believe Roya could change so much, so quickly.
"Haa... haa..." Roya gasped, fighting for breath. He relied on his body's natural healing to mend the wounds left by Kaido's Thunder Bagua. But his strength was fading fast. Another hit like that, and he was sure he'd die.
Slowly, he clenched his fist. Haki clung to it like swirling water. Zephyr's words echoed in his mind, a stern lecture he'd received long ago.
Haki is an invisible force. It's not about brute strength. Invisible means ever-changing. It can flow into your enemy's body like water, or become as hard as iron for defense.
Conqueror's Haki is the same!
Also, the closer you are to the edge, the more power you can unleash.
"Kaido, thank you!" Roya shouted, a grin spreading across his face. "Taking a beating from your club finally made it click!"
"I finally understand how to really use Conqueror's Haki!"
"Wororororo!" Kaido roared with laughter, clutching his massive club. "Black Hair Kid, only a few strong people can do that! Can you truly?!"
"We'll see!" Roya answered, gripping Rain Cutter with both hands. He poured his Haki into the blade.
In a flash, they moved - crossing the distance between them in an instant. Sword and club swung with incredible force!
"Clang!!!"
A deafening ring echoed as the weapons met, though they didn't actually touch. An invisible barrier seemed to stand between them!
"Wororororo!" Kaido bellowed.
"Aooohhhh!" Roya roared back.
They strained with all their might, trying to overpower each other. But the weapons, separated by sheer force, wouldn't budge an inch!
Lightning-like Haki crackled and spread outwards.
The wind whipped around them, and the waves crashed violently against the shore.
"Their weapons aren't even touching!" Yamato gasped, her eyes wide.
What was going on?
She'd never seen anything like this when she fought her father. Could this only happen when Conqueror's Haki clashed?
"That little brat!" Jack muttered, hidden at the edge of the battlefield. He sensed something and looked up at the sky.
His eyes widened in horror!
The clouds above were swirling madly, tearing apart to reveal a massive, dark gap. It was as if the sky itself had cracked open from the force of their collision!
The marines outside the island witnessed the scene too.
"The sky... cracked open!" one of them exclaimed.
"What on earth is happening on the island?!" another cried.
"Vice Admiral Roya is still in the battle!"
The officers considered heading to the island, but the violent waves pushed their warship further and further away. They couldn't get close.
This battle facing Vice Admiral Roya was more intense and far more dangerous than his previous clash with Whitebeard.
"Wororororo!"
With another roar, the massive Azure Dragon ascended, floating above the island. His glowing eyes fixed on the battlefield below, staring at Roya, who was half-kneeling, using his sword for support.
"Black Hair Kid, it's a waste to kill someone with your talent! Join my crew, and let's conquer the world together!"
"Haa... haa..." Roya panted, but his cold stare was his answer.
"Wororororo, don't be so quick to refuse. You'll change your mind!" Kaido stared at Roya, admiration in his eyes.
To have the strength to fight me at such a young age... there's no one else like him in the whole sea.
"Black Hair Kid, you are very strong!" Kaido praised him without holding back. It was the first time he had praised an enemy so highly, and even tried to recruit him repeatedly.
"You like my daughter a lot, don't you? Wororororo, if you join my crew, I'll marry Yamato to you! How about it?"
"Huh?" Roya raised an eyebrow.
I do like Yamato, but not in that way. I don't even feel a flutter of romantic interest. She's pretty, and she's my type, but she's too naive. I'd feel bad tricking her.
Nearby, Yamato's head was practically steaming.
"M-m-marry Roya!"
"Ah, Father, what are you saying?!"
"I-I-I..."
But no one paid attention to her reaction.
"Wororororo!" Kaido stared at Roya, stating what he thought was obvious. "You risked your life to take Yamato away, even fighting me to the death. You must like her a lot!"
"Emotions are a pain. They're a burden. If it wasn't for your feelings, you wouldn't be in this situation."
"But I acknowledge you, Black Hair Kid. You're good enough to be Yamato's husband, as long as you join my crew!"
Roya slowly stood up, pulled out a cigarette, lit it, and took a deep drag. He looked up at the Azure Dragon in the sky.
Becoming Yamato's husband and conquering the world with Kaido... it sounds good, but no.
Roya spoke calmly.
"Sorry, I'm a Marine."
"Marine?" Kaido was surprised, then sneered.
"Wororororo, you believe in the Marine's so-called justice?"
"How are the Marines and the World Government you support any different from pirates?"
"Black Hair Kid, you're still young and haven't seen the darkness of the world. When you climb higher, you'll understand the truth!"
"What's the difference between the Marines and World Government you support and a pirate? Garp and Sengoku, they are just lying to themselves!"
"Listen closely! Survival of the fittest is the only law of nature. Only the strong deserve to rule!"
Kaido remembered everything he'd seen at God Valley decades ago, the Celestial Dragons' cruel faces during the massacre.
"Wororororo, Black Hair Kid, I'll find you again!"
"When you see the truth, you and Yamato will join my crew. Together, we'll drag those nobles born into power down to the battlefield!"
"That's true equality and freedom!"
"That is justice!"
"I look forward to that day!"
The Azure Dragon swooped down, grabbed Jack, stepped on clouds of flame, and soared upwards, disappearing into the clouds without a trace.
"Worororororo~~~"
Only the echoing laughter remained in the sky.
The war was over.
Rain began to fall, soon turning into a downpour.
Roya stood still.
Letting the rain wash away the blood on his body.
"So, equality and freedom, huh..."
Kaido hadn't said it directly, but Roya knew the Marines were just tools to protect the Celestial Dragons. The so-called justice was just propaganda to fool the lower ranks.
And he, in fact, wasn't that noble.
"Roya, are you alright?"
"Yeah, I'm fine." Roya looked at Yamato, whose cheeks were flushed red, and whose movements were careful. He shook his head, smiled, and reached out to stroke her hair.
Kaido had his ambition.
He had his own path.
To move forward, he could only believe in himself!
