One Piece: New Order-Chapter 70: Demon Mode Bullet
Chapter 70 - Demon Mode Bullet
Sakazuki grew intrigued and gave a slight nod. "Go ahead. Use it freely."
Bullet glanced at the marines around him, then turned to face Sakazuki. Seeing the vice admiral standing calmly across from him helped settle his nerves. His hesitation faded.
He gave a firm nod. "Yes, sir."
Right after speaking, he closed his eyes and called upon a hidden force buried deep within him. The marines, still caught up in their intense sparring, felt a chilling sensation sweep over them.
Bullet's eyes snapped open. His appearance had changed drastically.
His eyes were now a savage red, devoid of reason. His entire body had turned an unnatural shade of blue. A cold, menacing aura pulsed from him, and the corners of his mouth curled into a cruel, unnatural grin.
Without warning, he turned to the nearest person.
Whoosh!
Like a blue phantom, Bullet took a single step forward.
He aimed to kill the man.
Boom!!!
A thunderous crash rang out. Sakazuki appeared instantly, intercepting him with a swift kick that sent the boy flying backward.
Bullet quickly got up. His body turned into a streak of blue as he charged straight at the vice admiral.
Sakazuki looked at the raging, mindless Bullet rushing toward him and muttered, "Demon aura, huh... interesting."
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!...
Everyone on the ship stopped what they were doing. They turned to watch what felt like a strange kind of comedy.
The blue demon-form Bullet had become like a ball. He charged again and again, only to be kicked away each time.
All anyone could see was a blue blur darting back and forth between Sakazuki and the ship's railing.
As time passed and the sun began to set, the crew watched with admiration.
Despite being tossed around the ship all day, Bullet showed no sign of injury or exhaustion. He got up after each blow, relentless and unfazed.
The eerie ghostly aura around him continued to corrode his body bit by bit. But Sakazuki didn't hold back. Each time, he kicked the boy away from a different angle. Bullet, now controlled by instinct, tried again and again to block the attacks.
But not once did he succeed.
The frustration building inside him reached a breaking point. After another brutal blow sent him sprawling across the deck, something within him snapped.
Everyone around him suddenly felt a wave of fury explode from Bullet as he got back on his feet.
It crashed down on them without warning.
"Raaahhhhhh!!!"
A furious roar erupted from him, and along with it came a powerful surge of Conqueror's Haki. The marines on the ship all felt a wave of discomfort wash over them.
Sakazuki and Carlol both raised their brows in surprise.
"He actually awakened Conqueror's Haki like this?"
Sakazuki hadn't expected this. His original plan had been to force Bullet into a purely instinctive state, sharpening his Observation Haki. Once refined, that Haki could be used to resist the influence of the demon aura, allowing Bullet to control it rather than be controlled by it.
But what happened now went beyond expectations.
After Bullet's long roar, the burst of Conqueror's Haki slowly faded. His fury seemed to die down with it. The red glow in his eyes dimmed as he gazed at Sakazuki. The cruel grin on his face slowly disappeared. He raised both hands and stared at his altered skin.
This was the first time Bullet had ever remained conscious in this form. In the past, whenever it happened, he always blacked out. And when he came to, there was never a single living soul left around him.
"Vice Admiral... what is this?"
Bullet looked at Sakazuki, confused.
The latter gave a slight smile. "You awakened Conqueror's Haki while in a purely instinctive state. That's why you were able to suppress the demon aura."
Bullet was familiar with the three types of Haki, but this was the first time he'd heard of "demon aura."
"Demon aura?" He asked with a frown.
Sakazuki nodded. "That's right. Demon Aura. No one really knows where it comes from or how it develops. There's no known method of training it. You'll have to figure that part out on your own. What we do know is that this aura can fuse with all three types of Haki.
He gestured toward Bullet's transformed state. "This form you're in, it's likely your body's instinctive way of using the demon aura most effectively. That's why you enter it when you lose control."
Bullet nodded, only half understanding. He looked down at his hands again. Even if he didn't fully grasp it, the strength flowing through him now was unmistakable. His physical power had risen several levels.
Then a thought struck him. He wondered if this state might have scared his comrades. He hurriedly looked up, only to see their eyes sparkling with excitement as they stared at him.
From not far away, Sakazuki's voice rang out.
"Wrap things up. Time to prepare for the feast."
The surrounding marines immediately cheered.
"Yeahhhhh!!"
They rushed toward Bullet, crowding around him with wide grins and animated voices.
"That was insane!"
"Bullet! You looked so cool"
"Whoa! Those crimson eyes!"
"Too badass!"
"Amazing!"
In the distance, Sakazuki and Carlo watched the crowd of enthusiastic marines celebrating around Bullet's demon form.
Sakazuki stroked his chin in thought, then he spoke.
"What do you think about forming a strike team?"
Carlo was momentarily stunned. He turned to look at Bullet. "A strike team, huh..."
Sakazuki nodded. "Yeah. Bullet is like a sharpened blade. Once he fully matures, he could break through any situation, whether it's a stealth mission or all-out war."
Carlo gave a low hum of agreement. "You're right. His talent is unbelievable. He's practically the next Vice Admiral Garp."
Sakazuki thought about the power of the More-More Fruit and gave a slight smile.
One Garp might not be enough...
He turned to Carlo and said, "Later, find a chance to run a selection. Pick soldiers who are fast and have great stamina. Start with fifteen for now."
With that, he turned and headed back toward the cabin.
Carlo looked down at the cheering marines and nodded. "Alright."
Then, something came to mind. He raised his voice. "What about the name?"
Sakazuki didn't stop walking. His figure vanished into the corridor, but his voice echoed clearly back through the ship.
"Howling Commandos."
