24 -24: Counteracting a Strategy with Another Strategy
Zhang Meng walked up to Su Ran’s desk.
“Siying, Monkey is mine, and your actions have been less than fair.
What should have been a good group activity has become such a mess, vulgar and uncivilized.” Zhang Meng flexed his fingers, his knuckles crackling, and he casually sat down on Su Ran’s desk, speaking casually to Han Siying.
The desk groaned under him, as if it were on the verge of collapse.
“Leave.”
Han Siying was incredibly nimble.
She idly slid a compass between her fingers, and gradually the compass began to spin faster and faster.
The onlooking students stared at the high-speed revolving compass, their faces pale with fear, as if the compass could turn into an arrow at any moment and shoot straight at their heads.
“Siying, that’s not fair.
Our fathers were comrades in arms, and we grew up together…”
“Go away.”
“Don’t be so heartless.
You used to always follow me around when you were little.
I’ve been looking after you all this time!”
“Go away!”
“Look at him, half-dead and close to the coffin.
What’s good about Su the Disabled…”
“Whoosh!”
An object whizzed by, and the collar of Zhang Meng’s shirt was pierced by the point of the compass.
It flew straight into the wall, unobstructed.
“Next time, you won’t be so lucky.”
A compass started to circle in Han Siying’s hand again as she looked coldly at Zhang Meng.
Zhang Meng shivered.
Others may want money, but it seemed she truly wanted his life.
He cleared his throat and said shakily to Han Siying, “You know how I feel about you.
I become crazy with jealousy if any man gets close to you, do you understand?”
Zhang Meng turned his gaze from Han Siying, who was apparently impervious to his words, to Su Ran, gnashing his teeth in frustration.
“Su the Disabled, I’ve held back long enough.
Do you think you can just take her phone like that?
Stop babbling!
If you’re a man, talk less!
The noon football match, are you in or out?
Just say it!” Zhang Meng unleashed all his anger at Su Ran, who sat there dumbfounded.
Su Ran was both amused and bemused.
So that’s what this was all about.
Borrowing a phone could turn into a whole saga.
Beautiful women always bring trouble…Why did I even get involved in the first place?
Now, Lin Yuqing had finally had enough.
She pushed at Zhang Meng, who scowled at her from her tilted desk, and said angrily, “This desk isn’t for you to sit on, it’s filthy; get off, get off!”
Zhang Meng was caught off guard by Lin Yuqing’s shove and stumbled.
Enraged, he pushed her on to the ground, shouting, “Out of the way, fatso!”
Seeing Lin Yuqing toppled, Su Ran stood upright in an instant.
His right fist clenched tightly and a cold gleam flashed in his eyes.
He laughed scornfully and said to the towering Zhang Meng, “Is it just a football match?
I will play!
But Zhang, you better try to kill me on the field.
If you fail, you’ll regret it!
But there’s one condition.
You must bow to Lin Yuqing and apologize – right now!”
“Bow?” Zhang Meng snorted.
With one hand on his shoulder and the other waving dismissively, he spoke disdainfully to Su Ran, “Su the Disabled, it’s an honor for you to be invited by me!
If you don’t go, I’ll drag you there myself!”
Upon hearing that Su Ran was willing to participate in the football match, Lin Yuqing ignored her own pain and stood up to hold Su Ran, urgently advising, “Are you crazy?
It’s clear they want to bully you in the football match!
You know your own body.
I’m fine, so don’t let them provoke you!”
Su Ran shot Lin Yuqing a reassuring glance, then calmly looked at the arrogant Zhang Meng, “Bow and apologize.”
“You’re too arrogant, you…” Zhang Meng roared like a beast and raised his hand to slap Su Ran.
But then.
“Whoosh!”
“Ah bloody hell!” Zhang Meng’s hand immediately recoiled and he cradled it in pain.
A shiny compass was stuck right in the palm of Zhang Meng’s outstretched hand, causing blood to flow immediately.
Han Siying looked dispassionate as Zhang Meng, the big brute, doubled over clutching his wounded hand.
She deftly held a compass in her slender fingers again; the glint of the compass’s tip seeming to emanate a chilling light that was hard to ignore.
“Siying you…” Zhang Meng looked at Han Siying, the owner of the compass, his eyes filled with disbelief despite his pain.
He had always thought that Han Siying was just trying to scare him, and would never actually hurt him.
“Bow and apologize!”
Zhang Meng looked at Han Siying, utterly expressionless from start to finish, and ground his teeth.
Finally, he lowered his proud head and reluctantly apologized to Lin Yuqing, “Sorry!”
“A mosquito is louder than you!
Hmph!” Lin Yuqing was obviously not a person to hold grudges; waving her hand dismissively, she ignored him.
She never took her eyes off Su Ran, fearing he would harm his health with anger.
“Su Boy, I have apologized now.
The noon football match is a done deal!
I look forward to your participation!
Goodbye!” Zhang Meng, sweaty from the pain, blamed everything on Su Ran.
The more Han Siying cared about him, the angrier Zhang Meng became.
He wished he could tear Su Ran apart on the spot.
He was the first man for whom Siying had ever hurt him, and a cripple at that!
“Aren’t you leaving yet!” Han Siying’s eyebrows were raised, her face full of anger as she shouted at Zhang Meng.
The exuberant Zhang Meng flashed a big smile at Han Siying, “Siying, don’t be so serious, smile a bit~” But with every wave of piercing pain, Zhang Meng’s smile twisted further.
Watching Zhang Meng clutching his hand as he walked away, Lin Yuqing finally let out a long sigh of relief.
She turned to Han Siying, expressing her gratitude: “Thanks, Siying.”
Han Siying elegantly sat down where the compass had stopped spinning obediently.
She acknowledged Lin Yuqing with a nod and began to play with the compass in her hand.
“Wang Mazi, hurry up and pull the compass out of the wall and return it to Siying!” Han Siying’s deskmate, Liu Yina, had finally regained her composure and started to take charge, instructing Wang Dazhuang.
Wang Dazhuang reluctantly pulled the compass from the wall, wiped off the dust with his sleeve, and hurried over to give it back to Han Siying, who looked as cold as ice.
“Han.
Your compass dropped.
I picked it up for you.”
“Right.
I…
uhh…
I’ll just put it on your desk and go back.” Seeing that Han Siying had no intention of acknowledging him, Wang Dazhuang intelligently placed the compass down and returned to his own seat.
Those compasses sure hurt!
Liu Yina turned to Han Siying, wanting to say something but holding back.
She was like a curious cat, ready to explode with questions.
“Hey, goddess, where did you get all those compasses?”
“Nosy.”
