Pampered by the School Bully-Chapter 16 - 15. The side that Huo Feng is performing now
Chapter 16: 15. The side that Huo Feng is performing now
Pu Sangzhi had never dreamed that opening a window could reveal such an unlucky face.
She initially wanted to close the window out of instinct, but just before she was about to do so, she suddenly realized something and furrowed her brows to question, "Huo Feng, are you stalking me?"
Huo Feng cracked a dry smile, "No, I was just passing by and happened to see you and your mom. You think it’s fate?"
No one would believe his words.
Pu Sangzhi "hmmphed" dismissively and without showing any pleasantness, she promptly shut the window.
"Hey, I really was just passing by, I didn’t lie to you."
Huo Feng hurriedly knocked on the window, stretching his head and eagerly gazed through the blurred glass at the faint shadow of Pu Sangzhi.
"I came this morning to look for my sister, who would’ve known I’d see you at the market. At that moment, my spirit followed you, and unconsciously I ended up here. Sangzhi, I’m not lying to you!"
"Sangzhi, don’t be mad, okay? I’m telling the truth."
"Sangzhi..."
Anxious not to leave a creepy impression on Pu Sangzhi, Huo Feng was quick to explain, slapping the window "bang bang" loudly.
Inside the house, Pu Sangzhi paid no attention to him, completely ignoring him.
She continued to take up the spatula and stir-fry the green peppers and pork; the smell of smoke was still so strong that she coughed a few times.
Nevertheless, Pu Sangzhi didn’t want to open the window for some air, unwilling to see that obscene face again.
Pu Sangzhi still remembered how he had said he would take her home after school on Friday. And now, he suddenly appeared at her doorstep.
She didn’t believe it was some coincidence!
Huo Feng must be stalking her, undoubtedly harboring ill-intent!
Daring to play this game, how obscene, how despicable!
"Xiaosang, who are you talking to?"
From the inner room, Chen Huifen suddenly heard some noise and walked out.
When she opened the kitchen door, a strong whiff of cooking smoke hit her nostrils, and she couldn’t help coughing twice, "Didn’t you turn on the exhaust fan?"
"I did, Mom."
Pu Sangzhi turned her head to reply to Chen Huifen, then quickly turned back and stirred the contents of the pan a couple more times.
The smoke was too thick, the spiciness too intense, mingled with the scent of something burnt, Pu Sangzhi hurriedly stir-fried a bit more and hastily turned off the heat.
Only then did the crackling sound of stir-frying in the kitchen stop, and it became much quieter.
But in the calm that followed, the voice of Huo Feng outside the window became very clear, "Sangzhi, listen to my explanation, at least don’t be mad at me..."
The voice of Huo Feng was embarrassing for Pu Sangzhi and, at the same time, took Chen Huifen by surprise.
With Huo Feng still calling out from outside, Pu Sangzhi and Chen Huifen inside the house exchanged glances, engaging in silent eye communication.
Pu Sangzhi knew her mother’s mind was filled with wild thoughts.
Chen Huifen also knew her daughter wanted to find a hole to crawl into from embarrassment.
"Sangzhi, don’t hide in there and keep quiet, I know you can hear everything. I swear I didn’t stalk you, please don’t be mad at me..."
Still calling from outside, Chen Huifen grew more interested as she listened, and so she walked to the window, ready to open it.
Pu Sangzhi quickly grabbed her hand and shook her head, "Mom, I’m not familiar with him."
"You still need to talk properly, tell the person to leave."
Chen Huifen tilted her chin up a bit, "After all, you’re schoolmates. It’s impolite to behave this way."
Pu Sangzhi furrowed her brows, "Mom..."
"Mom will talk to him, tell him to leave, don’t worry, I won’t make it hard for you," Chen Huifen said as she opened the window.
As the glass window opened, the interior and exterior of the house seemed to merge into one world; Huo Feng saw the mother and daughter inside, and Chen Huifen saw the boy outside, bathed in sunlight.
Huo Feng was dressed sportily today, with a white T-shirt on top, dark brown casual pants below, a cap worn backward, and a diagonal sports bag slung across. This outfit exuded youthful vigor.
When Chen Huifen saw the young man, she felt a refreshing sense of brightness.
Because not only was the boy dressed neatly, but his features were also clean and crisp, his short hair scattered on his long neck, his eyebrows resembling swords and his eyes sparkling, his nose straight, his lips thin. Under the sunlight, the boy’s fair skin shine brightly; gazing at him from such a close distance, indeed, he looked like a ’handsome and elegant young man, as splendid as a jade tree facing the breeze.’
"Auntie, hello."
Huo Feng took the initiative to greet Chen Huifen and also bowed slightly, exhibiting courteous manners.
Upon seeing Huo Feng behave this way, Pu Sangzhi on Chen Huifen’s side couldn’t help but be surprised.
He’s such a good actor... that’s not what he’s really like at all!
"Hey, hello."
Chen Huifen smiled warmly and nodded, "Are you Xiaosang’s classmate? Would you like to come in and sit for a while?"
"Would that be okay?"
Huo Feng’s eyes suddenly sparkled, hope flashing in his pupils.
But this was not at all what Pu Sangzhi had in mind.
She quickly pinched Chen Huifen’s hand, "Mom, it’s not convenient."
If it weren’t for manners, Pu Sangzhi really wanted to remind her mom directly, hadn’t they agreed to drive him away before opening the window!
"Yes, our home is a bit humble, and it might make my classmate laugh."
"Not at all!"
Huo Feng quickly shook his head, and lifting a hand, he pulled out a big watermelon, his thin lips curving up, "Auntie, to be honest, I specially bought a watermelon to pay a visit."
"Oh, there’s no need for that, child, you’re too polite."
Chen Huifen’s mouth said no, but those curved eyes completely revealed her immense satisfaction with Huo Feng.
This kid was good-looking, sweet-talking, polite, and understood some social etiquette... Clearly, he was a well-raised child.
"Kid, it’s not good for you to just stand there, why don’t you come in?"
Chen Huifen immediately gave in to Huo Feng, pointing to a large door beside the kitchen window, "The door is this way."
Having said that, Chen Huifen made a move to go open the door for Huo Feng.
At this point, Pu Sangzhi had been completely defeated by Chen Huifen’s contradictory behavior.
"Mom..."
She followed behind Chen Huifen, calling out to her with a tone of helplessness.
However, Chen Huifen completely ignored her daughter’s pitiful call, welcoming Huo Feng into their home with open arms.
Huo Feng, that kid, was especially good at acting cute.
From the moment he entered, Pu Sangzhi kept cramming new information in her brain—what she saw was a fake Huo Feng! Fake! Absolutely!
"Auntie, my name is Huo Feng, you can call me Xiaofeng. I’m sorry for visiting so unexpectedly."
"Not at all, not at all..."
"It’s like this, I have a friend who lives around here, and I came to find my friend this morning. I couldn’t help but follow after seeing you and Sangzhi at the market. It would have been impolite to come empty-handed, so I just bought a watermelon nearby. I promise the next time I visit, I’ll be more prepared."
"No need, no need... Xiaofeng, you’re still a kid, really, there’s no need to be so formal."
"Auntie, you’re really beautiful."
"Not at all, not at all."
"I mean it. I was thinking before how Sangzhi became so pretty, and now after seeing you, Auntie, I understand."
"Oh... kid, look at what you’re saying."
Huo Feng’s mouth seemed to have a cheat code when in front of elders.
His sweet talk flowed endlessly, making Chen Huifen blush and giggle with joy, and Pu Sangzhi stood beside them completely stunned.
Such good acting...
What a shame it would be for Huo Feng not to become an actor!
"Auntie, actually, I didn’t come to visit today. I just wanted to see Sangzhi and greet you."
Huo Feng also knew when to pull back, not showing too much.
After he entered the house, he didn’t take off his shoes or switch to slippers, just put down the watermelon on the floor and started sweet-talking.
After this barrage of sweet words was over, he surprisingly took the initiative to say, "Then, I’ll be leaving now. I still have to find my friend, we had made plans already."
"Is that so... Won’t you stay for lunch?"
Chen Huifen looked at him with a full maternal smile.
"No thank you," Huo Feng smiled.
Forcing his way in, Huo Feng noticed Pu Sangzhi’s expression had worsened a lot.
He really wanted to stay for a meal, but he feared that while earning future mother-in-law’s favor, he might also earn Pu Sangzhi’s resentment.
Such a loss wouldn’t be worth it, and Huo Feng couldn’t accept that.
So, he knew when to pull back, ready to leave.
Pu Sangzhi indeed didn’t welcome him, and quickly added, "No need to walk you out, Huo classmate."
"See you at school, Pu classmate," Huo Feng laughed lightly.
