Chapter 301: Chapter 302: Wang Cai the Great Immortal, Boundless Mana

Wang Cai thought he was quite generous to these people. Although each of them exhibited hostility towards him, regardless of whether they intended to attack or to mock him, Wang Cai never laid a finger on them, nor did he harm them. Instead, he gave them a chance to mend their ways.

Mu Can trailed far behind without showing himself, nor did he intervene to stop Wang Cai. He chose not to show himself because he felt that staying beside Wang Cai was too embarrassing, and his inaction was solely because he wanted to use Wang Cai to suss out these people. As for Wang Cai’s safety, Mu Can couldn’t imagine anyone in the Mortal World who could pose a threat to him entering the Immortal Ancient Secret Realm.

If there was anyone present who would enjoy such a spectacle, it would have to be the Drunken Bum, no question about it. He initially felt humiliated being caught by a dog and forced to lead the way, but seeing more and more people join the ranks of lifting the sedan chair for the dog, the Drunken Bum couldn’t be happier in his heart.

"Look down on me, will you? Haha, every single one of them, now you’re all carrying a sedan chair for a dog."

The Drunken Bum made up his mind and pulled out a long spear from his Storage Magical Treasure, attaching a banner to it with bold characters written in thick ink that said "Lord Wang Cai’s Departure," carrying the banner as if it were a flag.

He swaggered through the streets.

A blatant display of swaggering, Mu Can chuckled the moment he saw it from behind. This Drunken Bum may be mediocre in strength, but he sure was quick-witted. Wang Cai would definitely like this sort of thing. Mu Can knew the dog all too well; he adored this kind of face-saving gesture.

Indeed, the moment Wang Cai saw the Drunken Bum’s actions, he immediately shouted in praise.

Pointing at those carrying the sedan chair and those following behind, he exclaimed loudly: "Look at him, then look at yourselves, a bunch of blockheads. Lord Wang Cai declares that should we encounter an opportunity later, let him choose first."

Wang Cai’s words brought joy to the Drunken Bum’s heart. It seemed that his decision was the right one. He originally thought that this would attract more people to help Wang Cai carry the chair, but he didn’t expect to be given the first pick when encountering an opportunity—an unexpected delight.

Hearing Wang Cai’s words, Mu Can snorted dismissively from behind. You guys are too naive if you think you can get any benefits from a miser like Wang Cai.

However, those who didn’t know Wang Cai didn’t see it that way. They had all witnessed the dog’s strength; although killing was forbidden in the rules of the Immortal Ancient Secret Realm, many opportunities were surely meant for those with more power. Now that they were following a powerful being, their chances of gaining opportunities had greatly increased.

With this thought, many people looked at the Drunken Bum at the front with eyes filled with envy.

Such is human nature; they had already forgotten how much they resented Wang Cai and no longer cared whether carrying a sedan chair for a dog was a humiliating task. The only thing on their minds now was to perform well and earn a chance from Wang Cai.

And so, those with quick minds had already imitated the Drunken Bum, creating their banners to carry on their shoulders, each one strutting about with an air of arrogance.

Wang Cai nodded in satisfaction and sat back down. He turned to glance at Mu Can, only to see Mu Can with a smirk on his face, which puzzled him. But he didn’t ponder too deeply about what Mu Can might be smiling at. Without a second thought, he comfortably settled back into the sedan chair and even crossed his legs.

"Wang Cai the Great Immortal, his mana knows no bounds." Someone smart among them shouted out.

That shout was unexpected; Wang Cai immediately stood up from his sedan chair.

"Hey, you there." Wang Cai beckoned at the person who had just shouted with his paw.

"Right, right, you, the one who just yelled." Wang Cai, upon seeing the person’s puzzled face, called out again.

"Sir." The person who had just spoken scurried up to Wang Cai with an utterly obsequious look.

"What’s your name?" Wang Cai asked warmly.

"Responding to Sir Wang Cai, my humble name is Zhang Long."

Zhang Long’s competence was merely on par with those in the Martial Arts Sect; he was the most inconspicuous one among the group of disciples, oftentimes bullied.

However, Zhang Long had one exceptional quality; he was particularly good at observing others and guessing their thoughts. Having witnessed Wang Cai’s demeanor, he immediately came up with such a slogan.

Following behind, Mu Can couldn’t help but burst into laughter. This dog was just too good at stirring things up, and Mu Can even began to wonder if Wang Cai continued down this path, whether a Wang Cai Divine Sect would emerge in the Mortal World.

"Not bad, not bad, you’re a quick thinker, a real talent. Here’s a task for you. If you do well, your lord here will reward you handsomely. If you fail, you should also be able to guess the consequences," said Wang Cai as he casually scratched his back, speaking languidly.

"Sir Wang Cai, your humble servant would not hesitate to die a thousand times." Zhang Long immediately knelt down. Even though it was a dog, it was still a Martial Saint dog.

In fact, there weren’t that many Martial Saints in the Mortal World, mostly the older generation, with very few among the younger. A large portion still belonged to certain clans.

Ordinary cultivators might not meet many Martial Saints in their lifetimes, but being able to stand out among the billions in the Mortal World and reach the Immortal Ancient Secret Realm certainly demonstrated extraordinary abilities.

The onlookers’ feelings were mixed, like a jar of spices overturned, but that was reality. An Intermediate Martial Saint, even if in the form of a dog, was still deemed a noble creature. That was the law of the jungle in the Mortal World – strength is paramount. Although some despised Zhang Long’s performance, most were secretly regretting not having come up with the idea themselves.

"Woof! Actually, it’s nothing much, just shout this slogan with the others later on. You lead them; it’s more imposing that way," Wang Cai was quite pleased with his decision, feeling his presence becoming more commanding.

However, it would have been nice if Mu Can also joined in the chanting. Just the thought of that scene excited Wang Cai almost enough to transform into a wolf and howl at the sky.

If Mu Can knew what Wang Cai was thinking, he would have beaten him to death.

And so, the group continued on their way, but this time, the procession was different, more spirited.

Leading the way were those carrying banners, guided by the drunkard, followed by the sedan chair bearers led by Zhang Long who would chant slogans at intervals, and a few Reserve sedan chair bearers trailing behind.

Wang Cai felt that even if the legendary fiend sealed beneath Immortal Ancient City were to emerge, he dared to battle it.

There walked Mu Can, following behind, laughing and strolling along, wondering if years later, these people would recall the comedic scene they experienced within the Immortal Ancient Secret Realm.
