Path of Alchemy Mastery-Chapter 324 - 225 Passing the Test
Chapter 324: Chapter 225 Passing the Test
Mu Can had already decided not to give the man in black any chance to attack. Against a Martial Saint at the Peak, his Fire Dragon’s threat was reduced to almost nothing. However, Mu Can’s intention was not to use the Fire Dragon to attack. His purpose was simple; first, to use the light produced by the Fire Dragon to disperse the darkness on the platform. This was achieved as soon as the Fire Dragon appeared, shining like a tremendous torch that turned the dark platform as bright as day.
With daylight, the darkness had nowhere to hide, and the man in black could no longer use it for cover, revealing himself slowly.
Mu Can’s second goal was also simple. The Fire Dragon stemmed from his internal power. He was not using the Fire Dragon’s attacks but utilizing it to sense the location of the man in black. Any energy fluctuation inside the Fire Dragon could be quickly sensed by Mu Can. Any energy fluctuation pinpointed the location of the man in black.
In this way, the attack environment the man in black heavily relied on was demolished by Mu Can.
"Now, let us battle!" Mu Can clapped his hands gently. After a long fight, he could finally face the man in black openly.
If the man in black was as mysterious as a deep shadow, then at this moment, Mu Can felt as solid as a mountain.
With the enhancement of Dragon Transformation and the protection of the Reincarnation Pearl, Mu Can’s defensive power had reached a considerable level. Additionally, with the previous five red lights, even if Mu Can were to stand still and let the peak Martial Saint-level Demon Beasts bite him, he would likely remain unscathed.
"Damn!" The man in black felt the changes in the illusion beside him and cursed silently. The fading darkness destroyed his most reliable attack environment, leaving him no choice but to confront Mu Can directly.
"What kind of Fire Dragon is this? Normal flames shouldn’t be able to disrupt my Dark Sky." The man in black looked unwillingly at Mu Can, engulfed by the Fire Dragon.
His Dark Sky technique, even among his peers at the peak of Martial Saint in the Mortal World, could not be broken through, yet it was effortlessly disrupted by this young man.
"I understood, your Fire Dragon originates from the same realm as mine." The man in black blurted out, then froze in shock.
"The same realm. Who am I, who am I indeed?" The man in black began to doubt his own powers, but no matter how he tried, he could not recall his identity.
"You are indeed not from the Mortal World." Mu Can nodded almost imperceptibly. The words of the man in black confirmed his guess; this man in black was not a being of the Three Realms. He likely came from another realm similar to the Dragon Clan, but unlike the Dragon Clan, he represented destruction and disaster, which was exactly what the Great Power initially couldn’t tolerate.
Thus, the Dragon Group could live in the Immortal World, but the man in black had his memories erased and was cast aside here.
"There must be something detestable about a pitiable person," Mu Can thought silently. He wondered what heinous deed the man in black could have done in the past, causing his memory to be erased and discarded here. From everything Mu Can had encountered thus far, the creator of Tongshen Mountain must have been a kind-hearted entity. This could be inferred from the three lions he’d encountered previously, and from the restraints Mu Can suspected on the man in black, it was certain this Great Power was someone from the Three Realms, though he wasn’t sure if it was the master of the Three Realms that he and Wang Cai had speculated about.
"Kill me now!" Unexpectedly, the man in black fiercely threw his twin daggers onto the ground.
The daggers, sharp enough to easily slice through Dragon Scales, clinked twice on the ground and then lay still.
Meanwhile, the man in black became like a soulless shell, the red light in his eyes dissipating and gradually returning to clarity, but still with a hint of confusion in his eyes.
This is a kind of confusion about life, a confusion about oneself. The man in black doesn’t know who he really is, nor does he know where he comes from or where he is going.
Some great person once said, when a person starts to think deeply about two questions, that person begins to doubt life.
And those two questions are, where do I come from and where am I going.
No one can answer these two questions, even the wisest in the Mortal World cannot offer a solution to these queries.
Yet these very questions appeared here, in the heart of a being not belonging to the Three Realms, a killer filled with murders and violence.
"Congratulations, you have successfully passed the Sixth Wave’s hidden test with a perfect level completion. As a reward, you will receive an additional essence of gluttony."
Just as Mu Can was stunned, that mysterious voice came from the sky again.
"I actually passed? What is going on?" Mu Can was still clueless; he hadn’t defeated the man in black yet, so how had he passed, and even with a perfect level at that.
"Not fighting but winning others’ forces is the ultimate form of combat." As if hearing Mu Can’s doubts, the voice sounded again, and at the same time, the entire platform burst into light, forcing Mu Can to squint his eyes slightly. When he opened his eyes again, he was back on the stone steps, as if nothing had ever happened.
"Eh, wait a minute, I haven’t received my reward yet." A moment later, Mu Can felt something was off; he had perfectly completed the test, so why hadn’t he received his reward yet.
As Mu Can said this, two bright red beams of light suddenly emerged from a large stone next to the stone steps, thicker than the earlier beams, and went directly into Mu Can’s body, enhancing his physical quality.
Mu Can, fully satisfied, felt the transformation within his body. Just by the test of the first level, his physical quality had improved by half, which was a delightful surprise.
Exhaling a breath of stale air, Mu Can felt as if he had been reborn, his body teeming with power.
"Eh? This stone is a bit strange." Mu Can examined the stone where the red light had appeared, suddenly realizing that it was identical to the platform he had been on before.
Both appeared to be sliced by an extremely sharp blade. However, unlike the platform he was previously on, which had two strange sculptures, this stone was completely smooth, with nothing on it.
"Alas, I don’t know what’s the deal with that man in black, it’s all so vague and yet I’ve received so many rewards."
If others knew what Mu Can was thinking, they would probably want to slap him — having received such great benefits and still wanting to figure out how it happened. What wishful thinking.
