Pokémon Court-Chapter 503: Attack on Juniors
“Hello, Mr. Aaron is still in battle and has not come out yet…”
After returning to the lobby, Terrance inquired with the staff member he had asked earlier and received this information.
“Alright…” After thanking them, Terrance began walking around, continuing to wait.
Having just finished a battle, Terrance did not plan to engage in another one right away. Instead, he chose to explore the Battle Factory.
It was unclear when Aaron’s battle would end, but since the deadline for registering for the Gem Tournament was not too pressing, Terrance could afford to wait.
“Seven battles?!”
At that moment, Terrance heard an exclamation and instinctively focused his attention in that direction.
“That’s right, commanding three Pokémon that don’t belong to you and winning seven battles—it’s incredible. When I first came to the Battle Factory, I couldn’t believe this record either.”
“That must not be an unknown Trainer, right?”
“Of course not. Even if I don’t say it, you should be able to guess…”
“The current most famous Trainer in Sinnoh!!”
Cynthia?
Terrance turned his head back. That name—he really hears it everywhere.
As he walked past a glass panel, Terrance caught a glimpse of his slightly disheveled short hair, likely caused by the shockwaves during the battle. Though it didn’t look much different, he instinctively reached up to tidy it.
“Isn’t that Gym Leader Terrance?!”
A young man who had just brushed past Terrance suddenly stopped and called out to his companions, looking at Terrance in surprise.
“Hmm?” Terrance didn’t recognize the young man, but he still responded, “Hello, and you are?”
“Ah…” The young man scratched his head awkwardly. “I’m a Trainer from Hoenn, Mr. Gym Leader. I saw you during the Fallarbor Gym’s opening ceremony.”
“No need to be so formal, just call me Terrance.” Terrance smiled slightly. Being addressed as “Mr. Gym Leader” at his current age felt a bit strange.
“I see, what a coincidence.”
“Yeah, yeah.” The young man nodded. In reality, he hadn’t met Terrance at the Fallarbor Gym’s opening ceremony but had been one of the hundreds of challengers present. However, he never actually stepped onto the stage to challenge; he had watched the entire event as a spectator. Naturally, Terrance wouldn’t recognize him.
But at this moment, the young man didn’t have the nerve to admit that.
“This is the Gym Leader of Fallarbor Gym, one of Hoenn’s strongest Trainers,” the young man introduced to his two companions.
His two companions also excitedly started talking with Terrance. Being a Gym Leader was, in itself, a recognition of both skill and reputation.
“Sir, Mr. Aaron has come out and is now waiting for you in the lobby.”
After a while, a staff member, who seemed to have been looking for some time, quickly approached Terrance upon seeing him.
“Ah… Sorry for the trouble.” Terrance quickly realized that he had been chatting here for too long. Aaron had already finished his battle and come out. If the staff hadn’t been keeping track for Terrance, he might have missed the timing again.
“It’s no problem.” The staff member smiled.
Terrance turned to the three he had been speaking with and said, “Excuse me, I have some matters to take care of now. You’re all welcome to visit Fallarbor Gym anytime in the future.”
“It’s fine, it’s fine. You go ahead, Gym Leader Terrance. We’re leaving too,” the young man said.
After Terrance turned and left, the three finally began chattering excitedly among themselves.
“Aaron… Is that Aaron of the Bugs?”
“Very likely… It seems like Terrance is also the Gym Leader of a Bug-type Gym!”
Countless speculations flooded their minds as Terrance finally met Aaron again.

Aaron’s outfit looked very fresh and cool, making Terrance instinctively think of the two words—if Aaron were to put on a straw hat and carry a bug-catching net, he would fit the image perfectly.
“Huh… Terrance?”
“Are you the one looking for me?”
Aaron looked at him in surprise. Terrance had just battled him not long ago, and that battle had left a deep impression in his mind.
“Yes, it’s me.”
…
…
At the Battle Hotel, Ittetsu, Kaido, Lirica, and Kota were preparing to form two teams for the Gem Tournament taking place the day after tomorrow.
At this moment, they were in the midst of strategizing, discussing in advance which Pokémon each of them should send out for the double battle to ensure the best synergy.
Double battles were different from single battles. Two Pokémon that could support and enhance each other could sometimes create a synergy where one plus one was greater than two!
However, if the Pokémon were not chosen carefully, they could end up hindering their partner instead. The team composition played a crucial role in doubles battles, so the four had to make thorough preparations to increase their chances of winning.
“Should we be discussing this together? After all, we might end up as competitors soon…”
Lirica smiled and looked at the other three.
“Even if we don’t discuss it together, we already know what Pokémon each of us has. And without proper discussion, we wouldn’t be able to form the best teams.”
“Anyway, both sides have obtained information, so no one is at a disadvantage. Besides, there’s no need to hide anything in a small competition like this.”
With that, the four began their discussion on team composition.
“In the academy, we received formal doubles battle training. That’s our advantage, and we have to make full use of it!”
“So, we need to pick the best possible combination from all the Pokémon we currently have.”
Knock! Knock! Knock!
Their discussion came to an abrupt halt. At this time, if it wasn’t a staff member, then it had to be… Terrance.
Lirica opened the door, and sure enough—
“Senior Terrance, do you need something?”
“Of course. What, aren’t you going to invite me in?” Terrance said, noticing Lirica’s stunned expression.
“Uh…” Lirica was momentarily at a loss. The four of them were discussing an important matter. Among themselves, it was no big deal, but Terrance—he was unanimously considered one of the most troublesome bosses of the Gem Tournament!
Even in a one-on-one match against Terrance, none of the four felt confident about winning. Let alone the fact that Terrance would also have a partner.
All they could do was silently pray that Terrance would get paired with some inexperienced rookie who would require constant babysitting—someone who would make it feel like Terrance was fighting one versus three.
Only then would they have a chance at victory.
“Huh? You’re all gathered here? Are you discussing something?” Terrance’s faint smile made Lirica’s expression gradually crumble.
“Need my advice?” Terrance offered kindly.
“No, that won’t be necessary.” The other three quickly stepped forward. At any other time, they would never have refused, but in this Gem Tournament, Terrance—who was their senior—was also their competitor. And not just any competitor, but one far more dangerous than the four of them combined. There was no way they could let the big boss give them advice.
Terrance swore he was just being helpful, but since they rejected him, there wasn’t much he could do.
“Alright then.” Terrance scratched his head. “I actually came here to remind you that the 24-hour time limit is almost up. If you’re unsure of being able to keep this room, it’s best to contact me.”
With that, Terrance turned to leave. But just before stepping out, he looked back at the four and said:
“Keep up the discussion. Oh, and I forgot to mention—I just teamed up with a Trainer whose strength is on par with mine for the conference. When the time comes, I won’t be holding back.”
As he walked out the door, Terrance thought he heard four voices crying in despair.
