Chapter 329 - Battle over

Ash and Ilunas were battling on the balcony of the castle. Ilunas' Ariados, Ursaring, and Noctowl were fighting against Mareep, Heracross, and Ash's Noctowl, respectively.

Meanwhile, Ilunas himself ran forward with his katana and slashed at Ash. At first, Soleil almost screamed in horror, thinking Ash was going to get cut down, but Ash wasn't worried.

He grabbed the kunai he had taken from Ilunas earlier and used it to clash against the blade.

While Ilunas was using both arms to try and push down on Ash, Ash kept using just one hand and was still overpowering Ilunas with only the kunai. Of course, Ash was slightly trained, back when Surge taught him Kali, the art of knife fighting, but a kunai was just another version of a knife.

As Ash held Ilunas back, he whistled, "Heracross, throw Ursaring! Noctowl, get Ariados! Mareep, [Tail Glow]!"

Ilunas' eyes widened. "Noctowl, quick, use—Mfph!" He was about to issue a command, but Ash grabbed his mouth and covered it.

"Oh, you think we do that 'fair battle' thing around here? Nah, we don't do that here. Let me show you how we do it back in Kanto," Ash said as he pushed the blade down and elbowed Ilunas in the stomach.

As he did, Heracross ran up and grabbed Ursaring by surprise, since he was focused on the sheep. Then, Heracross spun around and hurled Ursaring into the sky, where he collided with Noctowl, knocking them both down. Meanwhile, Mareep was getting ready, the little ball on his tail beginning to glow.

Ariados tried to shoot a web to knock Noctowl out of the air, but Noctowl was smart, smart enough not to even need Ash's commands. He shot an [Air Cutter], slicing the webs into ribbons, and then his eyes glowed as he used [Psychic], grabbing the bug and slamming it into the pile where Ursaring and the inferior Noctowl lay.

"Do it now, [Parabolic Charge]!" Ash commanded while holding the blade down with the kunai.

Mareep's tail glowed brightly as an orb of electricity formed in front of him. Three bolts shot out, connecting like a chain and striking the three enemy Pokémon, shocking them hard as their energy was drained.

Once the orb was big enough, Mareep started absorbing it into himself. As the energy surged through his wool, his body suddenly began to glow and grow. He stood up on his hind legs, and then, standing there was a Flaaffy.

Ilunas watched in surprise as all three of his Pokémon had been taken down. Ash, noticing how the battle was going, saw that Morty had arrived and smiled.

He struck Ilunas' wrist with the blunt end of the kunai, making him nearly drop the blade, but that wasn't what Ash was after. Now Ilunas was vulnerable. Ash twisted the kunai to its sharp side and slashed down at his waist.

Ash cut the rope that connected the Clear Bell to Ilunas' waist. The moment the rope was severed, Ilunas' eyes widened as he tried to reach down to stop Ash, but it was too late. Ash grabbed the bell and then kicked Ilunas directly in the stomach, knocking him back.

Ash grabbed a Pokéball in one hand and held the bell in the other, throwing them both into the air. "Noctowl, you're up!"

Noctowl flew into the sky, grabbing both objects, one in each talon, as he soared toward the battlefield. He understood what Ash wanted him to do. He didn't even need to be told.

As Noctowl flew away, Ilunas got up, clutching his chest. "You..."

"Itsa me, Mario~," Ash said, holding the kunai in front of Soleil protectively. "And you're losing."

"Not yet... I still have time. I will be the lord!" Ilunas declared like a madman. "And you won't deny me my destiny! My ancestors built this place, it is my birthright!"

Soleil was surprised by his words, but slowly, the pieces started falling into place. Ash rolled his eyes and got ready.

"Boring and predictable. Three points."

The group was working hard, trying to hold back everything. Their Pokémon were starting to get tired, and they were considering switching to another set when, suddenly, from above, three Gengars rained down a barrage of [Shadow Balls] at the approaching Pokémon.

When they looked back, they saw Morty casually walking up to them. "Good work, everyone. You guys really held the place down until I got here," he said.

Brock and Ethan both slightly resented Morty since he was dating all of the beautiful Kimono Girls, but they bit their tongues and gritted their teeth in frustration as they watched him act effortlessly cool.

Then, a voice called from behind, sending a chill down Kris' spine. "Morty, did you find the source?"

From behind Morty, Eusine ran up. When his eyes locked with Kris, his expression shifted, his eyes widened in recognition. "It's you..."

Kris looked away slightly, still haunted by what had happened last time. She couldn't bring herself to face him, not after everything.

Everyone was confused by Kris' uncharacteristic reaction. "Do you two know each other?" Silver was surprisingly the first to speak up.

Before either of them could answer, Morty cut in. "Not the time. We can try to reconnect later. The important question is, have any of you seen a Clear Bell?"

Yellow shook her head. "No, we've been busy here. We haven't seen anything."

Then, the sound of flapping wings caught their attention. Looking up, they saw a Noctowl, but not just any Noctowl. It was Ash's shiny Noctowl, clutching something in each talon. In one, he held the Clear Bell; in the other, a Pokéball.

"It's a Noctowl! And look what he has, it's the Clear Bell," Morty said. "But what's he doing? And whose Noctowl is that?"

"It's Ash's," Brock pointed out. "That means he's fighting the one who started all of this."

Noctowl soared over the invading Pokémon and dropped the Pokéball. In midair, it popped open, and from it emerged Blastoise, nosediving toward the ground. He wore his signature sunglasses, smirked, and aimed his cannons downward, blasting water with immense force. The pressure from the attack slowed his fall, while the impact on the ground created a massive wave that knocked back a good chunk of the enemy Pokémon, washing them away.

As Blastoise landed in the center of the battlefield, he adjusted his sunglasses coolly.

"Blastoise.ヾ(⌐■_■)" he said, crossing his arms.

Wartortle, who had been hiding behind Misty's legs, peeked out. After watching Blastoise's display, she stared at him with wide, starry eyes. "Tortle... [Wow, he's so cool!]"

Deeper in the forest, Nidoking gave Blastoise a thumbs-up as he continued working to thin the enemy numbers. Meanwhile, Noctowl flew back over, dropped the Clear Bell into Morty's hand, and perched atop Venusaur's tree.

"Huh. Well, this was easier than I thought," Morty said, rolling the bell in his palm.

"Uh... I hate to be the one to say this, but they're not stopping," Ethan said, pointing at the still-marching Pokémon.

"It's because all they care about is the bell. They might think we're trying to trick them," Morty said, gripping the bell tightly. "If we want this to end, we need to get this back to the Bell Tower."

Kris raised her hand. "I'll go! I have an Arcanine, I can get there the fastest."

Morty nodded and tossed the bell. As it spun through the air, it chimed softly before landing in Kris' hands. "Then go. We'll hold them back."

Kris nodded and reached for her Pokéball, but before she could throw it, the temperature suddenly dropped even lower. A thick mist began to creep across the ground.

Everyone tensed, frantically scanning their surroundings. Then, Misty and Yellow's eyes widened in alarm.

"I-It can't be... again?" Misty stammered.

Everyone followed their gaze, and there, emerging through the mist, was Suicune. The legendary beast moved slowly, its piercing eyes sweeping over them.

Their breaths caught in their throats as they watched Suicune's gaze settle on one thing, the bell.

Kris' throat went dry. "Suicune... I-I'm... I'm so sor—"

Before she could finish, Eusine's eyes lit up with obsession, "It's Suicune!" he shouted, immediately grabbing a Pokéball. "Finally! I'm going to capture you, become mine!" He hurled the Pokéball before anyone could stop him.

Suicune's eyes narrowed. With a swift movement, it dodged and fired an [Ice Beam] directly at Eusine. He barely had time to react, but before the attack could hit, Morty lunged and tackled him out of the way.

Brock swallowed hard, memories of their past encounters flashing through his mind. "Morty, I think it's here for you! We've faced the three legendary beasts before, and they've been going around attacking Gym Leaders!"

Morty's eyes widened in realization. "So that's what Falkner meant..." He clenched his teeth and stood, his Gengar floating beside him, ready for battle. "Then we have no choice, we fight back."

Meanwhile, Kris stood frozen, staring at the ground. She wanted to apologize, she had so much she needed to say to Suicune.

Ethan grabbed her shoulders and shook her. "Kris, I know I'm not the smartest guy, but I know one thing, you need to get that bell to the tower now! You're the only one fast enough to do it!"

Silver let out a sigh. "As much as I don't like it, he's right. Go. We can handle things here, you're our only hope."

Kris looked around at everyone. They each gave her a firm nod. Swallowing her hesitation, she finally threw out her Pokéball.

"Arcanine, let's go! Run as fast as you can!"

Arcanine nodded, howled, and took off at full speed.

Suicune's eyes flashed as it prepared to attack, but before it could, a [Shadow Ball] struck it square in the jaw. It turned sharply and saw Morty stepping forward, pulling off his scarf and clutching the necklaces around his neck.

"Your fight's with me," he declared.

Morty yanked one of the stones from his necklace and tossed it into the air. His main Gengar shot up, snatching it in his mouth as dark energy began to swirl around him.

"Gengar, Mega Evolve!"

Ash dodged another desperate attack from Ilunas. Now that Ilunas was out of Pokémon, he had resorted to attacking Ash directly. But with his Aura-enhanced reflexes and knife-fighting training, Ash wasn't worried, even as the eclipse began mid-battle.

Ilunas swung his sword wildly, but Ash's attention briefly shifted to the Arcanine racing toward the tower. He smirked.

With a swift motion, Ash imbued his hand with Aura and caught the blade, stopping it without even getting cut.

"Looks like your game's coming to an end," Ash said coolly.

Pressing his thumb against the sword's tip, he applied pressure, and, in front of everyone, he snapped a small piece off. Slowly, deliberately, he ran his hand down the blade, pushing with his thumb, snapping it again... and again... and again.

Ilunas' face twisted in fury. "No. No, no, no!" he shouted.

Abandoning the broken sword, he reached behind his back and pulled out a kunai attached to a chain. With a quick spin, he launched it at Ash while gripping the chain tightly, wrapping it around his hand to prevent Ash from pulling it away.

Soleil gasped, covering her mouth in shock.

But Ash caught the kunai effortlessly, gripping it firmly even as Ilunas tried to yank it back.

Smirking, Ash tilted his head. "A metal chain, huh? You know what they say, it makes one hell of a conductor. Ain't that right?"

As he spoke, his fingers started to glow faintly.

The glow spread to the chain, turning it a bright, crackling yellow. Electricity surged down its length, traveling straight to Ilunas.

Ilunas' eye twitched. "Oh, you've gotta be kid—AAGH!" he screamed as volts of electricity coursed through his body.

His knees buckled, and he collapsed. Before he could recover, Ash yanked on the chain, using it to wrap Ilunas up.

With a firm pull, Ash pinned him to the ground, planting his foot on Ilunas' chest.

"So," Ash said with a satisfied grin. "Looks like it's game over~."

Kris clung tightly to her Arcanine, trying to shield her face from the fierce wind as they sped toward the Bell Tower. The towering structure loomed in the distance, growing closer with every heartbeat. Wild Pokémon attempted to intercept her along the way, but Arcanine was too fast, weaving past them effortlessly as they zoomed ahead.

Upon reaching the tower's base, Kris barely had time to react before Arcanine took matters into his own paws. With powerful leaps, he vaulted two floors at a time, soaring higher and higher. As soon as he reached the highest point he could, he dashed inside without hesitation, his claws clicking against the wooden floors.

Kris' heart pounded in her chest. Everyone was counting on her. She couldn't afford to fail them now.

Eventually, she reached a point where Arcanine was too big to continue carrying her, so she jumped off and started running. As she raced up the spiraling staircase, her heart pounded, and her breath hitched from the exhaustion of climbing so fast, she was still only twelve, not an Olympic athlete.

But when she finally passed the golden bells, she pushed herself forward, ignoring the burning in her lungs. She reached the top and saw three bells, one on each corner. It didn't take a genius to see where the Clear Bell belonged. Without hesitation, she ran over and reattached the rope, securing the bell in place.

As soon as she tightened it, a cold breeze flowed through the building, causing the bells to chime. Their soft melody rang through the town, and as Kris looked out, she saw the attacking Pokémon suddenly stop, their eyes turning toward the tower.

Finally, she let out a deep breath of relief before collapsing onto her back, exhaustion washing over her.
