Chapter 345 - Don’t try to follow me, you won’t make it in time

{600 stone Chapter!}

----

Friede was flying on top of Charizard, looking around the scene. He did what he could, stopping pieces of rubble from falling and saving people from the already destroyed buildings. His main priority was to find Liko, Roy, and Dot to make sure they were safe.

He tried using his phone, but whatever caused those sounds had completely put the Rotom in his phone out of commission, so it was useless. He was doing this the old-fashioned way.

As Charizard banked low, dodging a half-toppled radio tower, Friede scanned the streets below. He could see emergency response teams starting to mobilize. People were helping each other out of the wreckage.

But he wasn't done. He was still looking for them, "Come on, where are you guys..." he whispered, eyes sharp behind his goggles.

As he flew, he saw some people trapped in a building. He pointed toward it, "Charizard, Air Slash], clear a path!"

With one flap, Charizard sliced the air in a shockwave that knocked away loose rubble. A mother and her child escaped the wreckage, and Friede gave them a thumbs-up before flying off again, 'Can't stop now. I need to find them...' he thought as he kept flying, looking.

Eventually, he saw them, far away, Liko, Roy, and Dot, along with some other people. But one thing he also saw was that a building near them was beginning to crack. He grit his teeth, "Charizard, max speed!"

Charizard tried flying as fast as he could, but it looked like he wouldn't make it, until, from the side, a Blastoise with some cool sunglasses flew in, shooting water from his feet while holding onto some other civilians he had saved.

Friede saw it, and with a twirl, Blastoise threw the people in his arms up into the air, went into his shell, and flew with a [Rapid Spin], breaking the broken pieces apart. When he landed with a pose, he caught all the people he had thrown up.

When he landed, he let them down and struck a pose, leaving everyone silent, except for Roy and Mighty G.

"Wow, another cool Pokémon!" Roy said, bouncing on his feet. "Is this your Pokémon too, Mighty G?"

Mighty G just scratched his cheek. "No, but I see he is a fellow hero. But," he said, walking up to Blastoise, "your pose is all wrong. Try it like this."

Blastoise was taken aback; this was the first time anyone had criticized his pose. But as Mighty G demonstrated, Blastoise followed, flexing as well in a new pose.

"Yes, that's it!" Mighty G said, flexing his muscles. "A great pose will always help when being a superhero!"

Even Friede, up in the sky, was still looking at this situation. But he took a breath and flew over, landing near them.

"Liko, Roy, Dot!"

"Friede!" Liko was the first to yell, waving frantically. "You're okay!"

"I could say the same to you three!" Friede jumped off Charizard and ran over, scanning them quickly for injuries. "Are you hurt?"

"No, we're fine," Dot said simply. "Well, besides that I can't use my tech..."

"I hate to break up this reunion, but I recognize this Blastoise," Misty said, putting her hands on her hips. "This is Ash's Blastoise."

"Wait, really? I didn't know he had a Blastoise..." Roy said, like that was the most important thing right now.

"Wait, so Ash is here, and you three know him?" Friede asked, looking at Misty, Brock, and Yellow.

"Yeah, we came here with Ash," Yellow said softly. "I—um—but we separated, and we don't know where he is. I'm worried."

"Wait, how do you guys know Ash?" Misty finally asked.

"I don't think that's the time. We need to find Ash. Knowing him, he probably told Blastoise to go save people while he went into the worst of it," Brock said as he looked around at the chaos. But it seemed that everything that could happen already had.

But just then, they heard the sounds of clacking, and when they looked at the source, they saw Wyrdeer running, with Jasmine laying weakly on his back. Wyrdeer noticed Brock, Misty, and Yellow as he stopped and walked over to them,

"It's Ash's Wyrdeer!" Yellow said.

"And there's a beautiful girl riding it!" Brock said, with hearts in his eyes. But just before he started flirting, he stopped, seeing that she was injured. Brock knew when he should and shouldn't simp, and this was one of those times.

"That's not just a girl, that's the Gym Leader of Olivine City, Jasmine," Mighty G said as he leaned on his elbow and coughed.

"Wait, wait, hold on a second, what's a Wyrdeer?" Friede asked. After all, he hadn't been in Kanto for a while, he didn't read the research paper Professor Oak released.

"Not the time for questions," Misty scolded as she ran up and looked at Jasmine. "Hey, are you awake?"

Jasmine slowly opened her eyes weakly and nodded. "Y-yeah... I, ah... my leg..."

"Hey, don't worry," Liko ran up next. "Please calm down, you need to get to a hospital."

Jasmine weakly pointed back toward where the lighthouse used to be. "N-near the lighthouse... t-they're fighting with... Team Rocket. He saved me... help him, please..."

Their eyes widened. Knowing Ash, it wasn't hard to imagine him taking them all on, especially if they caused all this destruction.

Friede nodded as he looked around. "Don't worry, we'll make sure he's safe. But let's get you to a hospital first, then we can call a rescue team to help us."

As Liko, Roy, Dot, Misty, Yellow, and Brock nodded, Mighty G took a step back and coughed again. "You will have to take the rest from here. I must go and save who I can on my own, a superhero's job is never over!"

He grabbed Sharpedo and threw it into the air. Then, in one leap, he caught up and landed on Sharpedo, crashing into the water and surfing away.

Roy gave a double thumbs-up. "Man, that guy's so cool."

Dot deadpanned, "He's... definitely something."

Friede shook his head like he was trying to physically shake off the confusion. "Okay, cool guy aside, we need to call a rescue team to help us. If Ash is really in danger, they're probably near the hospital helping people. We can tell them and drop Jasmine off there too."

There was no argument as they ran as fast as they could, worried that Ash might need their help.

—--

Meanwhile, Ash and Silver were out of breath from the constant fighting, but you should've seen the other guys. All fifty grunts and their Pokémon were lying flat out on the ground, and Carl and Sham were now surrounded by Ash and Silver's Pokémon.

Carl and Sham looked around at everything. After all of that, they'd outnumbered them, and Ash and Silver still managed to win. Just what kind of freaks of nature were these kids?

Carl grit his teeth. "Sham, looks like we need to escape."

Sham clicked her tongue. "Fine, but you're the one that's taking the blame."

"Piloswine, use—" Carl started, but he was cut off when Silver's Feraligatr came back for round two, bit down, and dragged Piloswine away.

"Looks like I have to do things myself. Houndoom, use—" but she was also cut off when Pikachu threw an [Electroweb] and tied it around their necks. Then, he tossed the line to Machamp, who spun around and hurled it into the side of an already broken building.

Carl and Sham grit their teeth as they saw Ash and Silver walking up to them, fixing their clothes after everything and wiping the dust off their outfits way too casually.

"That was annoying," Silver said as he cracked his neck. "Now you're going to give us what we want. Where did that come from, and why did you attack the city?"

"None of your business," Sham said as she noticed Slowking was still up. "But we'll be sure to give you a visit later for revenge, Slowki—Gah!"

She tried commanding Slowking to teleport them out, but Ash ran up and extended his arms, hitting them both in the neck and slamming them into the ground. As he did, Pikachu went over and took care of Slowking.

They were being held down with Ash's hand on their necks, and he looked down on them. Silver walked up behind him, not phased, not surprised, not anything.

He went to Carl and grabbed him by the shirt, and Ash let him go. Silver pulled him close to his face. "I'll ask you again. Where did that noise come from, and why did you attack the city?"

Carl looked at him and scoffed. "Make me, brat." Big mistake.

That just gave Silver permission, and he started punching his face, beating the ever-loving crap out of him.

Ash threw Sham up, and Machamp caught her, grabbing her in a bear hug, as Ash put a hand on Silver's shoulder. "Stop, Silver."

Silver was breathing heavily, and for a moment he was confused why Ash was stopping him. He slowly got off of Carl and was going to demand an answer from Ash, but it got answered for him.

Ash got on top of Carl, putting a knee on his chest. "It's my turn." He started punching Carl's face again and again, getting angrier as he punched. "Why did you do any of this? People might DIE, you self-centered piece of human garbage!"

He kept punching again and again, but even with Carl's teeth broken and bleeding, he still smiled, until one more punch knocked him out.

Ash took a few heavy breaths, and Silver said nothing, just crossing his arms. Then, without looking at Silver, Ash asked, "Do your Haunter know Dream Eater?"

Silver nodded, and even though Ash wasn't looking at him, he understood. Ash got up. "Machamp, knock her out."

Sham's eyes widened, realizing what was going to happen, but before she could protest, Machamp chopped her neck, knocking her out.

Machamp put her down next to Carl, and Ash didn't even need to say anything as Silver snapped his fingers, and his Haunter flew up to them.

He put his hands out and phased into their heads, eating up the information. Doing it this way was actually safer and more reliable than just using a Psychic Pokémon. If they used a Psychic Pokémon, they risked losing what was in there.

After a few moments, Haunter looked up and nodded. "JieJie"

Silver nodded. "Did you get the reason they attacked the city? Were they after something?"

Haunter just shook his head, making Silver's eyes narrow. "So they didn't even know why they were doing this. Tch."

"What about their base?" Ash asked. "Or at least where that sound wave came from?"

That made Haunter nod. "Jie! Jie!"

"That's something at least," Silver mumbled as he looked at Ash. "I don't need to explain to you, do I? I'm going there."

Ash didn't argue. He just nodded. "Not without me, you aren't. Go, I'm going to help out where I can here. When you find it, call me, and I'll teleport to you."

Silver nodded. As he hopped on Feraligatr, they ran off to the woods, leaving Ash to start cleaning up. But ironically, as soon as Silver left, a rescue team came rushing in, thinking Ash needed help, with a few civilians following, and also all of Ash's friends.

The only thing they saw was Ash standing over a small army of Team Rocket grunts and Pokémon by himself. Ash knew that Silver really didn't want any form of popularity, so he had to take this one for the team.

He raised his hand and smiled. "I took care of it, don't worry about it. It is fine now. Why? Because I am here!" he said, as Pikachu copied his pose, making Blastoise get a tear in his eye, looking like a proud father.

And everyone was completely silent.

—-

A few minutes later, sitting in the hospital, the Team Rocket members, including Carl and Sham, were taken into custody along with their Pokémon.

Ash took a bit of time to catch his breath and answered any questions people asked him, although Liko and Yellow just seemed happy he was alive.

After a while, they saw Ludlow come into the hospital, saying he got lost, but under his breath, Ash heard him mumble, "...Looks like I can only stay in that form for 3 minutes..."

Ash had no idea what he was talking about, so he didn't ask. Since no one else asked anything, they just accepted his excuse.

Ash rubbed his chest. He had been hit by some Pokémon, and so had Silver, but neither of them said anything, even though his ribs hurt from getting punched in the chest.

Just as he was lost in thought, he heard the sound of doors opening, and one of the doctors stepped out to take a breath. The entire hospital was in full force, and apparently, according to Friede, Mollie had gone to the Pokémon Center, which was surprising, since she's always reluctant to go to one. She doesn't like being reminded of what people used to tell her to do.

Ash looked at the doctor and immediately asked, "How is everything?"

The doctor wasn't really thinking straight. "Not that well. We're understaffed, and a lot of people are coming in. A lot of people need surgery, and we're struggling to keep our heads above water."

"And what about Jasmine?" Ash asked, narrowing his eyes.

The doctor sighed and ran his hand through his hair. "Unfortunately, we haven't even started on her. When she came in, all the surgeons were already working on others. We can't stop halfway for her, even if she is our Gym Leader. We just have to hope one finishes and then they can work on her, but we have a lot of people here."

Ash frowned, took off his hat, and started tying his hair back. "Alright then. I'll do it myself."

Everyone immediately froze, except Misty, Brock, and Yellow, as the doctor looked at him. "Kid, don't joke about this. This is delicate stuff, not playing with toys. To even be allowed to perform surgery, you need a medical license and years of training and approval."

Ash paid him no attention as Pikachu walked over to his bag, pulled out Ash's license, and handed it to him. Ash placed his hat on Pikachu's head. "Yeah, I already have all that."

He handed over his medical degree and license as he started taking off his hoodie.

The doctor froze in place as he read through them. It was official, but it couldn't be. He quickly ran over to the receptionist and gave it to her to check in the system.

Meanwhile, Ash pulled out his doctor's coat from his bag and put it on, looking at everyone.

"You know, when you said you had a medical degree, I thought it was just the degree, not an actual license," Friede said, crossing his arms as he felt sweat drip down his head.

"How... are you actually the same age as us..." Dot mumbled.

"I am, and I was serious. Maybe if you just put in a little more effort, you could do the same," Ash said teasingly as he placed his bag and Pikachu with Yellow.

"Wow, that's amazing," Liko said quietly. "You do so much, and I barely know what I want to do."

"It's nothing. When it hits you, you'll know what you want to do. Just remember, don't compare yourself to anyone. I made that mistake once. It wasn't fun," Ash said as he fixed everything in place, then looked at the doctor, who was walking back with his license and degree.

The doctor sighed. "I checked... and yeah, it's all official. Normally, I would still refuse, but I spoke to the hospital manager. Seeing as our situation is difficult, he'll let you perform surgery."

Ash nodded and took his things back, putting them in his bag. "Alright then. I'll get to work. Lead the way."

The doctor sighed heavily, feeling much older than he was, seeing an eleven-year-old on the same level as him. But saving lives doesn't really have an age requirement, does it?

So he unlocked the doors with his ID and held them open for Ash.

Ash looked back at his friends and gave them a wave as he went in, to start saving lives.

—-

It was about 5 hours later, and Ash was standing over Jasmine's sleeping body. He had just finished reconstructing her broken bones, it took quite a bit of time, and he used some Aura secretly to speed it up a little.

He took a deep breath and stepped back as he looked at Jasmine. She'd be fine; she just needed some time to rest, and in a few months, she'd be good as new.

Ash walked out of the surgery room and pointed into the room as he took off his gloves and mask, "It's done. She'll be fine. If any of you don't trust me, then see for yourself," he said, ignoring the looks they were giving him.

He was going to do surgery on someone else, but before he did, he went over to his phone that he'd left outside and checked it. When he saw what was on it, he narrowed his eyes.

— Silver: I found the base. —

Ash turned on his heel and started walking out. Much to people's surprise, as he stomped out, he opened the doors into the lobby where everyone was still there. Some of them had started to sleep, but the sound woke them up as they saw Ash's serious expression.

He took off the coat and let down his hair as he folded it, took his bag back, and put on his regular hoodie and hat.

"Hey Ash, are you okay?" Yellow asked. "What about Jasmine? Is she going to be okay?"

"I'm fine. And Jasmine is going to be fine too, the surgery was successful," he said as he put his bag on his shoulder.

"Ash, what's going on?" Friede asked, seeing Ash not even smiling right now.

Ash sent a message to Abby with Aura as he looked at them, "I found the place Team Rocket came from, and I'm going."

That was like a bombshell dropped on all of them, "A-Ash, you can't be serious," Liko stammered. "You just fought a bunch of Team Rocket members!"

"Not to mention you just did surgery, have you even had time to rest or even eat?" Dot added.

"I can eat when I'm done, and I'll rest when I can't keep going," Ash said as he saw Abby appear.

Misty quickly stepped in front of him, "Wait, Ash, no no, no, no! We aren't going to let you do this again. Haven't you done enough?!"

Ash just looked at her, having lost his usual amused smile, "Really? But we both know you can't stop me."

That sent a shiver down Misty's spine, and as much as she didn't want to admit it, he was right. She couldn't stop Ash, he was stronger than her and Brock, so she could only look down as Ash walked past her.

But Friede also put a hand on Ash's shoulder as he looked at him, "But I can."

Ash turned his head over his shoulder, and for a moment, they thought he was going to back down. But Ash just narrowed his eyes, "But you won't."

Friede frowned as he slowly pulled his arm back, "You're right. I won't force you to stop," he said, surprising everyone by backing down just like that.

But Friede continued, "I won't stop you if this is really what you want to do. I can only ask you: are you sure you're thinking straight? I know you're mad, but if you're just seeing red, then you can't help anyone."

But Ash didn't flinch as he grabbed Abby's shoulder, "I can see perfectly fine, and I know what I'm going to do. I'll be back in 2 hours. Don't try to follow me, you won't make it in time."

Then he teleported away, leaving everyone there, stunned that he left just like that.
