Pretending to Cultivate in Kindergarten-Chapter 224: A Genius
“Well said,” Jiang Xueli’s mother replied matter-of-factly.
“I only have you and Qianqian, my two precious girls. When have I not thought about you two? It’s just that the company’s been busy lately, otherwise I would’ve already had someone look into the guy Qianqian likes.”
She looked at her older daughter and continued,
“I heard you already checked into him, so I felt comfortable not getting involved. So, what’s the boy’s name? What’s his background, his family situation?”
Jiang Jingshi glanced back at Jiang Qian in the distance.
The usually cold and aloof Jiang Qian was also looking over, her eyes full of unspoken meaning.
Jiang Jingshi’s lips curved into a smile, helping to cover for both her sister and herself:
“It’s hard to say for sure. I don’t even know if Qianqian really likes him. From what I’ve heard, her grades weren’t as good as his when the semester started, and he also crushed her in sports. So she got competitive and started paying attention to him.
As for whether it counts as ‘liking’ him... well, when I asked her a while ago, she told me it wasn’t like that. She just cared because he stood out. Might just be a misunderstanding.”
Jiang Xueli’s mother narrowed her eyes in thought. “Is that so?”
Jiang Jingshi nodded. “I’m telling the truth—didn’t lie about a thing.”
She had a clear conscience, because when she’d asked Jiang Qian a while back whether she liked Lin Zhengran, that was what she said.
Jiang Xueli’s mother nodded.
“Alright, I believe you. With Qianqian’s personality, I honestly can’t imagine her liking anyone. Let’s just set that aside for now. What matters more is your situation with Lin Zhengran.
Once he confirms the day he’s coming over, your dad, Qianqian, your grandpa and I will all be there. We’ll have dinner together.”
“So formal?”
“Well, duh! It’s his first time coming to our house—of course your dad and I have to treat it seriously!”
As she was speaking, Jiang Jingshi suddenly felt a wave of dizziness hit her.
Jiang Xueli’s mother quickly held her up. “Jingshi, what’s wrong?”
Jiang Jingshi figured it was that illness again. Once she steadied herself, she awkwardly replied,
“It’s nothing. I’ve just been a bit too exhausted lately—got a little dazed.”
Jiang Xueli’s mother softened her tone with concern,
“Yeah, you’ve been working too hard trying to handle both sides. Once Qianqian takes over some of your responsibilities, things should ease up a bit.”
They chatted for a little while longer.
Then Jiang Xueli’s mother and Jiang Jingshi walked back to the entrance.
Jiang Xueli’s father was already seated in the car. She turned around to look at her daughters and the grandpa standing farther off:
“Jingshi, Qianqian, and Dad—you three should head back inside. We’re off.”

The sisters said in unison, “Drive safe, Mom and Dad.”
The driver closed the car doors, and the vehicle drove off into the distance.
In the car, Jiang Xueli’s father asked softly, “So? How’d it go?”
Jiang Xueli’s mother, sitting beside him, smiled faintly.
“Looks like it’s happening. Judging by Jingshi’s tone, at the very least, there’s definitely a spark between them.”
“Just a spark?” Jiang Xueli’s father frowned. “I’ve done a thorough check on that boy—he’s the real deal. Pure genius. With that kind of talent, he’d make a phenomenal son-in-law. We can’t let him slip away. Jingshi has to lock this down. With him, our Jiang family will be unstoppable.”
Jiang Xueli’s mother clicked her tongue and gave her husband a light smack.
“Listen to yourself—no conscience at all. Business is business, but feelings are another matter. Even if Lin Zhengran’s that capable, it still depends on how Jingshi feels about him, right? They need to like each other. If she’s not into him, no amount of talent can force a relationship.”
She rolled her eyes at him. “You’re so transactional. What kind of father says stuff like that?”
Jiang Xueli’s father looked helpless, momentarily speechless.
“How am I being transactional? I’m only saying this because I know Jingshi likes that boy. Otherwise, why would I even bring it up? I care more about those two precious daughters of ours than anyone. Isn’t all this for them? Everything we’ve built is going to them anyway.”
Jiang Xueli’s mother huffed but still admitted,
“Still, gotta admit—so young, yet so talented. Anyone would be jealous. Jingshi mentioned he might come over for dinner soon. We’ll have to meet him properly then.”
“He’s coming over?! Great! I’ve been wanting to meet that young man myself.”
