Psychic Overlord-Chapter 145: Tousou (The Battle) 9
Chapter 145: Tousou (The Battle) 9
The moment Eleanor’s knees hit the ground, the stadium erupted.
A tidal wave of sound poured through the arena like a living ocean in the form of cheers, gasps, and shouts. The commentator box struggled to keep pace as both hosts screamed into their mics, struggling to be heard.
"He did it! He actually did it! Kaizer Lunin has just taken down the descendant of Merlin!" Tae Ishi roared, half-standing on her chair.
Ferron Blaze slammed his hand against the desk. "That’s three—THREE—elites in a row! And this time, it wasn’t even raw power! He broke her mind somehow! He broke her spellcasting!"
Up above, the betting board shattered its previous limits.

Crowds surged near the betting terminals but the screens glowed red with system overload. Someone in the Silver Division fainted after realizing their 300-dollar bet on ’Kaizer wins by cognitive disruption’ had just returned enough to buy an entire dormitory floor.
In the Heir Pavilion, Davion was silent.
No tantrum and no insulting this time.
Just silence.
Ryu Kurosawa sipped from his glass and leaned back. "That was textbook mental erosion of some form. He destabilized her from the inside out."
Alexei exhaled through his nose. "He didn’t even show half his elemental abilities, just fire, ice and some wind. He simply mirrored her and undid her foundation the entire time."
Rafael whistled low. "He’s not just a psychic... he’s a damn spellbreaker."
Davion’s cane creaked in his hand.
Eleanor Seltzer, still kneeling, was staring at the floor as the Book of Merlin hovered loyally near her, but no longer glowed as her magic had gone quiet.
Kaizer didn’t press her as he turned and walked away, calm as ever.
Up in the instructor’s box, Madam Sylvia looked down with a sad, resigned expression.
"She wasn’t ready to lose," She said softly.
Carlisle nodded. "And he was never planning to win through strength. That’s the difference."
Dean Rochester folded his hands. "I can assure you that he understands his opponents better than they understand themselves. And it’s only match three."
Madam Sylvia glanced at the ring again, where Eleanor finally stood, her hands shaking slightly as she closed the tome.
"Elie, you will come back from this, I trust you." She whispered.
"I agree, but Kaizer won’t slow down anymore, not for anyone." the Dean replied.
The screen overhead flashed again.
Next Match: Lucian Vale "Judgment" vs. Kaizer Lunin "Overlord"
Another roar burst from the crowd.
And Kaizer? He was already heading toward center ring, his coat billowing slightly in the aftershock of victory, his eyes looking forward.
As Kaizer reached the center of the arena, the stone beneath his feet hummed softly. Victory still clung to him like heat from a lingering fire, but his expression was already reset to one that was calm, focused, forward-facing.
Across the ring, the next gate opened and Lucian Vale stepped out in silence.
The sharp click of his polished shoes against the stone platform and the quiet rustle of his long silver coat was all that denoted his presence. His silver hair drifted slightly as if the wind respected him too much to be loud, allowing him to aura farm freely.
At his side was a simple scabbard that was unadorned, yet absolute.
The crowd hushed at his presence, and not out of fear, but reverence.
Judgment had arrived.
In the instructor’s box, Carlisle narrowed his eyes. "Lucian’s different. He doesn’t fight for pride or spectacle. He fights to end."
Dean Rochester didn’t blink. "Which is why Kaizer has to be careful. That boy doesn’t miss once he commits."
In the Heir Pavilion, Davion’s grip tightened again and Ryu didn’t even need to look to know what he was thinking.
Alexei leaned forward. "This is the match. This is the one everyone feared would happen."
Rafael grinned. "Overlord versus Sword of Light. Let’s go."
Back on the field, Lucian stopped ten steps away from Kaizer, standing with perfect posture. His gray eyes scanned Kaizer’s form once, then focused directly on his face.
"I know what you are," he said calmly.
Kaizer tilted his head slightly. "Do you?"
Lucian’s voice didn’t rise, but it echoed through the arena like a verdict passed.
"You’re not just dual path psychic with Telekineses and Telesthesia. You’re also true Telepath, a real one. You can read thoughts... alter memories... even control minds."
The words hit the crowd like a thunderclap.
Suddenly, there were gasps of shock and screams of horror from the crowd and a few people even stood up right away. One student dropped their tablet in fear and another clutched their friend’s sleeve, eyes wide in terror.
The announcer box went silent for a moment before Tae Ishi managed a breath. "W-What did he say?!"
Ferron Blaze looked stunned. "Kaizer Lunin... a full telepath? That’s not just rare. That’s... that’s the reason those types are sealed or exiled."
In the Supreme Force box, Commander Rae stood up, face hard. "Is that true?!"
Blaze folded his arms, still watching Kaizer. "Tsk, I wanted to see how long he could hide it."
President Voss’s teacup stopped halfway to his lips. "Hm."
Tyrron, who had just returned to his seat, folded his arms. "Well damn, the secret I just learned about my new boss has already been outed. I wonder how he’s going to handle the fallout?"
He didn’t sound angry, just curious.
Beside him, Eleanor didn’t speak as her eyes widened, and for the first time, her defeat made sense.
’He didn’t break my rhythm by chance! He bent my mind!’
She gripped the book tightly, whether in anger or fear was unknown.
Kaizer didn’t respond to Lucian’s accusation nor did he deny it.
He just looked up at the crowd in silence. They weren’t cheering now... they were staring.
There was fear, distrust and paranoia aplenty. Kaizer was certain that if this was a medieval village, he would be run out of town at best and burned at the stake at worst given the intensity of their thoughts and gazes.
It always came when the word "telepath" was said aloud, the ancient fear of losing one’s thoughts. The idea that the mind, the last sacred boundary, could be read without one’s knowledge.
Many people tried to throw up mental barriers or focus their thoughts to mislead him, but the current Kaizer could even break through Anir’s barrier over Rina’s mind if he wanted, so only those like Eleanor the puppet or Davion himself who had special physiques that eliminated their mental fluctuations altogether could put up something of a resistance.
Funny enough, Lucian saw it too. He gestured around the two of them with one slow hand, still speaking aloud.
"You’ve hidden it well, but if you want the crown... you should wear it honestly." He said evenly, justifying his abrupt revelation.
The arena buzzed with murmurs while a few spectators even booed. One person shouted, "ESPIONAGE!" from the stands.
Up in the instructor’s deck, Rina stood up sharply, her energy surging.
"SHUT UP!"
Her voice blazed through the arena, laced with so much death energy that the floor visibly dulled where she spoke. The crowd fell silent in terror, truly understanding that if this girl wishes, they and their entire families will perish and leave this world.
Kaizer didn’t stop her, but he didn’t look away from Lucian either.
"I didn’t lie about what I was," He said softly.
"You didn’t tell them either," Lucian replied.
Kaizer exhaled, slow and even. "I never needed to."
Then his gaze sharpened. "Until now."
Lucian reached for his sword. The blade remained in its sheath, but energy already bled through the seams, light magic so pure it hummed.
"I don’t know the reason you chose to reveal this. Whether to destabilize me or to tarnish my reputation or simply to inform the world, it doesn’t matter."
Kaizer raised a single hand, psychic force spiraling around his wrist like a ribbon drawn from air.
"My mentor asked me how I wanted to rule the esper world. Would I be like Reaper and use my power of death to harvest dissidents? Eventually, he and I decided that my best path that suited me was to be a ruler of such absolute power that all obstacles before me crumble into dust."
The crowd was no longer shouting, they were holding their breath as they felt suffocated by the dual tension of Rina’s blazing anger and Kaizer’s stark calmness.
"To that end, not even telepathy able to read or control all minds would be enough, because there are always those who can either resist or ignore it. Rather, I need power over all the Six Paths of the Mind, to become the psychic of all psychics."
As Lysandra waved her hand for the match to start, Kaizer’s blue eyes glowed with thunderous power.
"To become... The Psychic Overlord."
