Psychic Overlord-Chapter 69: S-Class Superiority 1
Chapter 69: S-Class Superiority 1
Kaizer’s arrival naturally rattled the area as all eyes fell on him, knowing that the sudden arrival of a fifth party was likely going to cause a significant change to the balance of the situation.
However, after the young man landed, he simply assessed everyone calmly and silently, not making any moves. It also gave the group time to analyze him and realize a crucial detail, which was the fact that he was not someone any of them recognized!
"This little brother here, you don’t look familiar~ Can you tell us who you are?" The voluptuous woman asked in a sweet manner.
Kaizer swept a glance around. "S-class esper, Overlord."
Everyone’s demeanor changed immediately, disbelieving that a dignified S-class esper would involve themselves in this matter. The reward that the Ancients offered was barely tolerable for low to mid-level A-class espers and very suitable for B-class fellows.
"Huh? I’ve actually never heard of a name like Overlord before. And looking at how young you are, you must be a student, right? At the Esper Academy?" The African American man suddenly said as he thought of something.
"Oh yes, I heard our city’s academy admitted two S-class brats with unparalleled talent, so this young man must be one of them." Sadistic Flame suddenly chimed in, her eyes narrowing with interest.
"Barely two weeks out of training and daring to dip your fingers in this troubled water. I must say that the arrogance of S-class espers is truly reputed." The Buff Military Man remarked with folded arms, his expression casual.
His words had the effect of making everyone realize that this was the case. Even if Kaizer was an S-class esper, he had been in training for likely less than a month given when the news circulated, so what could he possibly know?
He was likely a case of high potential without the necessary talent to back it up, so it was not like they did not have a chance. After all, minus the buff military man’s group of four, everyone else had also attended the academy and had received the full extent of their training.
This calmed them down and also made the situation return to the previous standoff.
However, Kaizer was not the type to dawdle, glancing past everyone after mentally assessing their threat level then focusing on his actual targets, who were also looking back.
"Long time no see." Kaizer commented with a slight smile towards Barnes and Lyle.
Barnes gritted his teeth and punched the ground with anger. "Fucking brat, it’s all your fault! If you hadn’t messed things up back then, none of this would have happened!"
Lyle shook his head weakly. "We simply underestimated him, like these fools here. All of them will likely die today."
These words contained a lot of information, allowing the other parties to understand that Kaizer had history with their targets, likely being part of the reason they were in this bad spot.
Especially the military dudes’ group, their demeanors became colder towards Kaizer as they turned to face him, ignoring the others.
"Brat, were you the one who caused their mission to fail then?" The fellow asked coldly, his skin tone beginning to shift from white to gray.
Kaizer glanced at them askance. "Stand aside, I will deal with you later."
Towards these four who were the squad dispatched by the Ancients to hunt down their own men, he would have no mercy. This entire faction was on Kaizer’s blacklist because they decided for whatever reason to target Rina, which was completely intolerable.
However, his arrogant words did not cause their group to falter, as the silly young man with glasses spoke with a casual tone. "Be careful, this guy is also a telepath. He’s been trying to read your minds all this while, but I’ve managed to block his access."
Hearing that Kaizer actually possessed telepathy, the atmosphere became tense. Even if he had no hostility or enmity with them, the other parties began to treat him coldly, also turning to face him. Telepathy was a taboo, and no one could stand a person who could read their mind, for it meant all their secrets would be dug out.
Kaizer glanced at the other telepath with a hint of amusement and surprise. Good fellow, you managed to turn everyone against me despite you also being a telepath.
However, given that the gray-haired telepath looked harmless standing there with a stupid expression on his face while Kaizer came in with thunderous fanfare, it was natural that he was seen as a bigger threat.
But the question was, did it matter?
Kaizer raised his leg and took a step forward, but he angled his body to the side as the voluptuous woman spat out her tongue, which shot like a bullet released from a gun, striking and cracking into the wall beside him.
Anyone hit by that tongue would lose a part of their body and half their life for sure, marking the woman’s dangerousness. The tongue rapidly retracted as fast as it came out, which was enough to cement her ability at the B level at minimum due to its speed and power alone.
If her tongue could move left and right after being spat out while maintaining that speed, then it would definitely be an A-class ability. Still, her sudden attack opened the floor, allowing her allies to also make their moves as well.
"Kid, I’m going to fuck you up." The military guy swore as he roared and leaped over, his entire body gleaming with the color of steel.
Kaizer simply sidestepped the spot, noting that the entire area trembled when the guy landed, the ground beneath him cracking significantly. What was appalling was that his speed had not been affected, so despite shifting from flesh to metal, he still possessed the agility of a normal person.
"Pay attention." A soft voice spoke, being the blindfolded young man who had stealthily appeared behind Kaizer, thrusting his spear towards his throat with a gentle flick.
The spear was easily dodged by Kaizer with a slight head tilt, and the young man’s expression had not changed in the slightest from the volley of attacks that came his way. However, his lack of a counterattack made his enemies grim, especially that annoying calmness that made it seem like Kaizer had everything in his grasp.
"None of you can beat him, give it up." Lyle said mockingly, enjoying the show of others being toyed with by Kaizer.
Even Barnes had to admit that his frustration abated slightly, because now that Kaizer was marked as an S-class esper, he understood that they actually stood no chance from the beginning back then.
Kaizer lifted his foot and kicked backward, causing the tongue of the voluptuous girl to be knocked away, but that wasn’t all. Since he naturally imbued his telekinetic power into his kick, the tongue was struck with what was the equivalent of a speeding train head-on, causing it to explode into chunks of blood and flesh.
The woman screamed and knelt down, clutching the remaining stump of her tongue in pain as blood flowed from her mouth, her entire body trembling from the agony.
"Seline!" The gray-haired telepath shouted with shock, rushing to her side.
Meanwhile, the other two struck at the same time, their rhythm united. The spear aimed for Kaizer’s back while the fist made of metal blasted towards his jaw. Kaizer’s response was to seemingly ignore the spear and trade a punch with the military guy, which seemed foolish at first glance.
However, the onlookers were left shocked when the blindfolded young man suddenly cried out in pain, his arm twisting at the base and being ripped out along with his spear, coming to float beside Kaizer in the air.
On top of that, the two fists clashed, causing a small-scale shockwave to erupt within the sewers. The military dude was blasted backward, flying like a bullet and crashing into a wall on the opposite side, his body digging deep into it.
"Hei Ya! David!" The gray-haired telepath called out after his allies were taken down one by one, with the blindfolded young man also falling to his knees and covering the stump of his right arm while the military man had a dent on his chest that looked like he had been hit by a cannon.
Kaizer took back his outstretched fist and glanced at it, opening and closing his palm. At this moment, he felt the value of the training the Dean had given him, and this was even more visible to him because he used the most inefficient way to fight as a psychic but still took down his foes with ease.
Was this S-class? No wonder they were treated so differently.
The other two parties felt a chill in their hearts as they witnessed everything. When the standoff first began, the two A-class ladies were tied with the seven B-class fellows, but the four-man squad easily separated their fight and beat them back.
Even when Barnes and Lyle tried to escape in the conflict, just a punch from the military man had broken Barnes’ body and sent him flying, while Lyle’s arm was blown off by the voluptuous girl’s tongue attack.
Yet all were waylaid by the inexperienced young man before them.
