Psychic Overlord-Chapter 97: The Battle of Al-Rafid - End
Chapter 97: The Battle of Al-Rafid - End
Davion chuckled, tilting his head slightly as he saw the realization dawn in Kaizer’s eyes. "Ahh, you finally get it, do you?"
"Poor little Eleanor, she’s not quite herself anymore. But that’s alright, isn’t it?" He cooed, his voice syrupy sweet.
Kaizer remained silent, his expression unreadable as he glanced at the girl who should have been a rising star of the S+ class, now reduced to a lifeless creature.
Davion sighed dramatically. "Oh, come on, don’t just stand there looking all broody. It’s such a waste of a face. You should be honored to witness my work up close!"
He spread his arms wide, his ornate crimson coat billowing slightly. "This is true artistry in esper manipulation!"
Kaizer still remained silent, and by now, it was only Davion who had spoken this entire time.
Davion’s smile twitched at the edges, finally losing his patience with this damn mute. "Tsk, no appreciation for fine craftsmanship."
He glanced at Eleanor and then back at Kaizer, his red eyes gleaming. "I suppose I shouldn’t be surprised. After all..."
Davion took a step forward, his cane tapping lightly against the ground as he planned to continue his mocking words but was interrupted by Kaizer’s first response since Davion appeared.
"So all of this just because the Dean rejected you? How pathetic." Kaizer said calmly as his gaze flicked toward Davion in the air.
They say that the tongue has the ability to do more damage than the sword, and in this case, it was proven true.
Davion’s grin faltered, then slowly twisted into something far less amused as his fingers curled around the handle of his cane, a dark crackling energy coiling around it like a living thing.
His smirk struggled to remain, but there was venom beneath it now, something ugly writhing just beneath the surface as his eyes gleamed.
"Oh really...? Say that again, will you?" His voice was soft as a whisper, almost inaudible.
Kaizer ignored him and scanned the entire manor with his mind, calling his allies to him as it was about time to beat a retreat back to the United Federation. Their job here was done and he wasn’t in the mood to continue playing with this jealous failure.
Davion’s smile disappeared completely, replaced with an ugly look of hatred and malice. "I SAID SAY IT AGAIN YOU DOG!!"
In response to Davion’s fury, Eleanor—who had been standing primly in place—suddenly moved. It was something beyond conventional speed and mere blazing acceleration, but rather like space itself opened a path for her exclusively, allowing her to simply be there.
Kaizer was no longer using his muscles to move, having coated his entire body in a telekinetic film as that would allow movement more comprehensive and agile than before.
But even with this, he still felt it... her fist grazing past his ribs, the very air pressure alone sending a shockwave through his internal organs as he yanked himself to the side.
His mind focused, putting all of his telepathic power into his telesthesia in order to chance its ability to lock on to things within the domain. Just as Eleanor was about to attack, Kaizer took the initiative and countered, his power surging outward in a much more focused telekinetic blast meant to send her flying.
However, she absorbed it again, which made Kaizer truly confused. If before, his telekinetic cannon was like a burly man throwing an unskilled punch relying on his large stature, this one was like being a martial artist who used the inch punch.
Kaizer dared to say that this one might even cause Bjorn to lose some flesh off his skin before his upgrade.
Like before, his psychic force slipped off her, like wind passing through a void, which made him realize that this was either an ability Eleanor possessed or some kind of tool that Davion prepared ahead of time to specifically deal with his telekinesis.
If the Dean could source specialized talismans from that esper corporation, then why couldn’t this second-generation reject?
While Kaizer was contemplating, Eleanor’s next attack came, forcing him to move purely on instinct by dodging, deflecting, countering... except there was no countering nor was there any blocking.
His raw telekinetic attacks meant nothing and his physical blows enhanced with telekinesis always missed Eleanor as if she was the one with telesthesia and not him. He also dared not use his psychic barriers because he realized that it was not that Eleanor was so overpowered that she could shatter them with ease, but because whatever anti-psychic power she either had or whatever tool that she possessed was negating the barriers on contact. freeweɓnovel.cѳm
Seeing that Kaizer still had space to dodge because he put all his focus on his telesthesia while using telekinesis to move his body efficiently in 360 degrees, Eleanor became even more relentless and ruthless.
Every strike of hers became faster, sharper, heavier and Kaizer could feel his arms burning from the strain of blocking as he could no longer dodge everything. His ribs ached from the occasional glancing blows that felt like being hit by a truck head on.
He tried to widen the distance to buy himself some time to recover, but Eleanor was there—always there—her expression never changing, her attacks inhumanly perfect in terms of force, retractability, and readability.
For the first time in a long time, Kaizer was being overwhelmed by something he thought he wouldn’t ever experience again given how fast he had grown.
And Davion?
Davion was laughing.
"Look at you!" He howled, his voice ringing through the ruined manor grounds.
He pointed a gloved finger at Kaizer as his bloodshot eyes were filled with madness. "You thought you were strong, didn’t you? You thought you were special!"
Kaizer silently bore the pain as he clenched his teeth, attempting to parry another strike, but Eleanor’s next move broke through his defense entirely, giving him a single palm strike to his sternum.
His telekinetic reinforcement absorbed most of the impact but it still felt like his entire chest had been struck by a sledgehammer. His body flew backward, crashing through what remained of the manor gates, skidding across the paved ground as blood filled his mouth.
Davion exhaled in bliss. "Ahhh, music to my ears~"
Kaizer tried to push himself up, undeterred by the loss. His mind was sharp, still searching for an answer, still analyzing calmly which also surprised him as he never thought he could become this capable.
Still, no matter how great his mental faculties, his body began lagging behind due to the damage suffered.
Eleanor stepped forward, her white gloves still pristine, untouched despite battering him all over.
She raised a hand, fingers curling into a delicate fist, aiming to strike Kaizer once more, battering him into a pulp for her master’s enjoyment.
And then, before she could strike... something shifted in the air, causing it to freeze.
A weight, thick and suffocating, dropped onto the battlefield, so potent that even the mindless Eleanor hesitated for some reason.
Davion’s smirk disappeared as his heart became cold. "Oh?"
A familiar chill ran down Kaizer’s spine, but not from the cold that Crystal Ice could produce.
No, this cold was a mixture of the feeling of death mixed with utter hatred beyond what could be reasonably understood.
"GET THE FUCK AWAY FROM MY BROTHER!"
A screeching feminine voice filled with such fury that even Kaizer, who was not the recipient, flinched.
Kaizer barely had time to lift his head before blackness in the form of pure, seething death tore through the entirety of the manor courtyard.
Eleanor received her orders and moved to intercept, but was blown away, her petite frame rocketing across the battlefield while smashing through debris, her trajectory unstoppable as she disappeared into the distance.
Kaizer coughed, forcing himself to look up at the only one he had in his heart.
Standing in the ruined gate, her red hair billowing like flames in the wind, her eyes glowing with a terrifying abyssal light.
Rina.
But it wasn’t just her as Kaizer noticed another mental imprint in the darkness that poured from her form, whipping about like a writhing, pulsing, living and breathing entity of malice.
Davion’s eyes gleamed with subtle fascination. "Oh my, how lovely."
Rina didn’t even glance at him, her gaze was locked on the injured Kaizer who had never looked this bad in his entire life, and she was livid.
Kaizer watched her silently as she moved using the death energy as a sort of locomotive, her form materializing directly in front of Davion with a speed that sent a shockwave rippling through the battlefield.
Kaizer was surprised because he could see and understand her movement, but understood that it was because Rina was open to him, whereas his enemies were not.
Davion’s cane panickedly flicked upward to intercept as he tried to defend himself, but it shattered as a wave of pure death energy slammed into him, his body bending unnaturally as he was hurled through the air, streaking across the sky like a broken comet.
Rina exhaled, her breath misting like frost in the air, the yin and death energy too thick at this time.
And then, Davion stopped in mid-air, his body twisting unnaturally, as he slowly righted himself, his crimson coat billowing, his lips curling into something between amusement and irritation.
"Ah... now this is interesting."
He rolled his shoulders, cracking his neck in a sound that seemed less like bones and more like carved wood, a glimmer of something darker beneath his playful veneer.
"Perhaps... It’s time to go back." He said as his red eyes burned.
And just like that, he vanished, Rina’s gaze snapping to where he had been, but he was already gone.
"A retreat. A tactical one." Kaizer, now kneeling as he rose to his feet, let out a slow breath.
The battle was over, for now.
But as Kaizer looked at Rina, still trembling with fury and radiating that suffocating power with a twisted expression of craziness, he realized that this matter was one she would never let go.
Davion had made two deadly enemies today: the future strongest, Overlord, and the woman dedicated to him, the Death Goddess.
