Chapter 520 -520 Rather kill 1000 by mistake than let one go! (2nd update!)

“So, Buddha invited the Jade Emperor to discuss the Journey to the West to Seek Scriptures! Through-Arm Ape Monkey, Star Lord Yuan Hong, really knows how to choose people!”

A gleam of sharpness flashed in Guanyin Bodhisattva’s eyes. The dirt spy device she used to eavesdrop was actually told to Samantabhadra Bodhisattva by her, arranged together by the two of them. It wasn’t that she wanted to let Samantabhadra Bodhisattva know, but rather that it’s quite difficult for one person to cover all bases immaculately. If the Ancestral Buddha were to find out, the consequences would be unimaginable!

After the matter regarding the Journey to the West to Seek Scriptures was settled, the Jade Emperor and Primordial Heavenly Venerable did not stay for long at the Great Thunder Sound Temple and soon left on clouds to return to the Heavenly Court.

Watching the two leave on clouds, Guanyin Bodhisattva gave Samantabhadra Bodhisattva a meaningful glance. She took the lead in departing from Spiritual Mountain on a cloud, heading towards her abode on Mount Luoja. Meanwhile, Samantabhadra Bodhisattva stayed behind to wrap things up, which was the arrangement between the two. Guanyin Bodhisattva could help introduce Samantabhadra Bodhisattva to Flower-Fruit Mountain, but only if Samantabhadra Bodhisattva helped her eavesdrop on the secret discussions between the Jade Emperor and Tathagata Buddha, and properly handled the aftermath.

“Guanyin, I’ll tolerate you for now,” Samantabhadra Bodhisattva thought to himself as he watched Guanyin Bodhisattva’s silhouette disappear into the clouds. “Once I enter Flower-Fruit Mountain, with my methods, it will be only a matter of time before I crush you underfoot!”

As the glint in Samantabhadra Bodhisattva’s eyes turned fierce, he let out a cold snort and turned to walk towards the corner where the eavesdropping took place. He pointed at the paper earpiece of the soil-based spy device, and a force extended through, reducing the cotton thread and the other end inside the Great Thunder Sound Temple’s Treasure Hall to flying ashes.

“Hm?”

The Tathagata Buddha in the Treasure Hall of the Great Thunder Sound Temple raised his eyebrow slightly, casting his gaze towards a corner of the left Sanctuary. There had been a brief burst of energy in that corner just moments ago.

A flash of insight passed through the eyes of the Tathagata Buddha as he scanned the corner but found nothing.

“An illusion?”

The Tathagata Buddha moved to the corner to examine it carefully but found no trace of anything, leaving him somewhat puzzled. The energy had been there and vanished so quickly; could it have left no trace at all?

“Swoosh!”

Releasing his Divine Sense, the Tathagata Buddha quickly scanned the area within ten miles of the Great Thunder Sound Temple. Suddenly his pupils constricted—Samantabhadra Bodhisattva was moving away from one corner of the Treasure Hall, his actions suspicious. Could the earlier power fluctuation have originated from him?

What was he planning? To eavesdrop on the conversation between himself and the Jade Emperor?

A suspicion arose within the Buddha’s heart, growing into a chilling certainty. “Clever Samantabhadra, I had no intention of moving against you, but now that you harbor ulterior motives, you can’t blame me for taking action,” thought the Tathagata Buddha, his eyes gleaming coldly.

In a flash, the Tathagata Buddha disappeared from the Hall.

Far from Spiritual Mountain, approximately ten miles from the Great Thunder Sound Temple, Samantabhadra Bodhisattva was on his cloud heading towards his abode in Mount Emei when suddenly a flash of Buddha’s Light appeared ahead. Samantabhadra Bodhisattva felt his speed slowing down, and the surrounding clouds’ movements turned oddly. In the next moment, a series of immense Buddha statues materialized around him, enveloping him completely.

It was the Domain Power of the Tathagata Buddha’s Immeasurable Buddha Nation!

“Ancestral Buddha!”

A heaviness settled in Samantabhadra Bodhisattva’s heart. Had the eavesdropping been discovered? It shouldn’t be possible— that kind of soil spy device was a mechanical tool from the Mortal Realm, which didn’t require any spell power to operate, so the Tathagata Buddha shouldn’t have been able to detect it!

“Samantabhadra, such audacity, daring to eavesdrop on my private conversation!”

Tathagata Buddha’s voice arose, filled with murderous intent, and Samantabhadra Bodhisattva felt his heart sink immediately—it had been discovered!

“What is Ancestral Buddha talking about? This disciple does not understand! How would this disciple dare eavesdrop on Ancestral Buddha’s secrets? Ancestral Buddha, could it be that someone is framing this disciple before you? Is it Guanyin?”

Although somewhat panicked in his heart, Samantabhadra Bodhisattva refused to admit anything verbally. If he admitted now, the rebellious intentions would be laid bare, and given the character of Tathagata Buddha, there was absolutely no chance of being spared. Samantabhadra Bodhisattva was very clear about this; a thought even flickered through his mind—could it be that Guanyin Bodhisattva had secretly reported on him? Otherwise, how would Tathagata Buddha know so quickly?

“Samantabhadra, do you really think this seat is so easily deceived? Speak, by what means have you eavesdropped on our conversation?”

In normal times, without solid evidence, Tathagata Buddha might not take harsh measures against Samantabhadra Bodhisattva, but now was an urgent moment. A single leaked whisper could lead to the failure of the entire Journey to the West to Seek Scriptures, and Tathagata Buddha would not allow even the slightest mistake!

“Ancestral Buddha, this disciple has been wronged! This disciple really did nothing!”

Samantabhadra Bodhisattva still vehemently denied it, and it seemed Tathagata Buddha had not grasped any solid evidence; otherwise, he would not be asking about the method used for eavesdropping.

“Obstinate and ignorant!”

Tathagata Buddha let out a cold snort, “Since it is so, don’t blame this seat for being ruthless!”

“Endless Buddha’s Light, Buddhist Kingdom Crushes!”

In the age of great contention, not a shred of mercy could be afforded. Although no solid evidence was seized, the signs already showed that Samantabhadra Bodhisattva harbored dissent. If, feeling tender-hearted today, he was let go and the Scripture Seeking plan leaked to Flower-Fruit Mountain, the great cause of the Buddhist Sect through a millennium would be in vain, an event Tathagata Buddha absolutely would not tolerate!

Better to mistakenly kill a thousand than to allow one guilty to escape!

The full force of the Immeasurable Buddha Nation’s Domain power burst forth. Endless Buddha’s Light enveloped Samantabhadra Bodhisattva’s whole body, as gigantic Golden Buddha statues extended their palms from all directions, pressing down upon him.

“Ancestral Buddha, you can’t do this! Your disciple is innocent! Ancestral Buddha, it wasn’t me, it was…”

Samantabhadra Bodhisattva couldn’t finish his words, as the Golden Buddha Palms struck severely upon him. His current Cultivation Strength was only that of a Daluo Golden Immortal, how could he withstand the full force bombardment of the Immeasurable Buddha Nation’s Domain Power? Immediately, his body shattered to pieces, with his Soul’s True Spirit unable to escape, he was directly turned into dust, thoroughly vanishing between heaven and earth.

“This Samantabhadra seemed to have something to say! Was he about to confess his accomplices?”

Having dispatched Samantabhadra Bodhisattva with a single move, Tathagata Buddha suddenly felt a bit of regret—not that he regretted striking down Samantabhadra Bodhisattva, as some sacrifice was inevitable to ensure the smooth implementation of the Journey to the West to Seek Scriptures. Even if Samantabhadra Bodhisattva was truly wronged, what of it?

Tathagata Buddha regretted not being more patient in asking, to hear the last words of Samantabhadra Bodhisattva as he fell. It seemed he was about to give up someone else, but unfortunately, Tathagata Buddha was already too late to withdraw his hand.

If indeed there were accomplices, who could it be?

A figure emerged in the mind of Tathagata Buddha—it could only be Guanyin Bodhisattva!

To Mount Luoja, not a single mistake must be made!
