Rebirth of Billionaire's Wife-Chapter 381: She clung to the fragile hope
Mischelle stood by the balcony, her gaze following Jedrick as he rushed into his car and sped off. The urgency in his movements puzzled her, but she didn't waste time dwelling on it. Instead, she seized the opportunity to contact Ella.
She knew that after what she had done that day, Ella would be devastated. The thought twisted painfully in her chest, but she clung to the fragile hope that Ella wouldn't misunderstand her and that she would give her a chance to explain.
With a deep breath, Mischelle grabbed her phone and dialed Ella's number. To her surprise, the call was answered almost immediately.
"Ella," she breathed, the name slipping from her lips like a plea.
Silence followed. A heavy, overwhelming silence that stretched between them.
Meanwhile, Jedrick pulled up to one of his private mansions, the one he had purchased in secret. The moment he stepped out of the car, his gaze locked onto Ben, and fury ignited in his eyes.
"How the hell did she get out of the house?" he snapped, his voice a sharp whip that sent a wave of fear through the staff.

Ben lowered his head, shame settling deep in his gut. He had left her alone for just a minute—just one damn minute and somehow, she had managed to slip away unnoticed.
Jedrick's seething glare bored into him before his gaze swept around.
"Where is she?" he demanded.
Ben hesitated for only a second before shooting a glance upstairs.
Jedrick didn't wait for further explanation. He stormed up to the room and found his mother fast asleep.
His eyes darkened as he silently approached her. His instincts screamed at him to wrap his fingers around her throat, to punish her for defying him. His jaw clenched, his hands twitching with restrained fury. But instead of giving in to his rage, he grasped her hand instead.
Jedrick despised disobedience. And yet, this woman, his own mother, managed to push him to the brink of madness.
"I so badly want to beat the hell out of you, Mother," he murmured, his voice low, venomous. His grip tightened, causing the old woman to wince in her sleep.
But she was found. That was all that mattered.
And he would make damn sure no one discovered her whereabouts again.

Inside the study, Jonathan was engaged in a serious conversation with Rick. He had managed to contact him once again, and this time, their exchange lasted longer than usual.
"I doubt that Jedrick is suspicious of me, but there are still things about him and his life that I don't know," Rick admitted. "I may be his trusted man, but there's still a line between us."
Jonathan pondered over Rick's words. For years, Rick had been their only reliable source, keeping them updated on Jedrick's every move. If not for his help, they wouldn't have been able to evade Jedrick's relentless attacks. Yet, even with Rick's insights, Jedrick's unpredictable nature had often caught them off guard.
There had been times when even Rick found himself outcast, left scrambling to clean up the chaos Jedrick created. But what truly shocked Jonathan was Rick's uncertainty about Jedrick's lineage.
For years, Rick had been by Jedrick's side, yet he had never found definitive proof that Jedrick was truly Gerald Miller's biological son. The doubt surrounding Jedrick's parentage unsettled Jonathan, especially since the identity of his real mother remained unknown.
"There isn't a single lead regarding the woman who gave birth to him. If it weren't for the old proof, I wouldn't have believed that Jedrick was my brother and that we shared the same father," Jonathan admitted, struggling to accept the reality. But there was little he could do to change it.
A brief silence settled between them before Jonathan spoke again. "I hope Mischelle isn't being tormented there. This sudden marriage has shocked us all, but I doubt this is the whole truth."
Rick nodded. "If only I had known what Jedrick was up to, maybe I could have warned you. But the man is unpredictable at times. I couldn't even alert Stefan about it."
"I'm sure the kids are more sensible than we give them credit for," Jonathan stated. He had already witnessed their understanding and trust in one another. It was a bond that was difficult to break, something he deeply admired about them.
Rick suddenly spoke, his voice laced with intrigue. "Did I ever mention Jedrick purchasing a place where none of us are allowed to step foot?"
Jonathan's interest piqued. "No, I don't think so."
"That's because no one knows about it. It's a fortress he rarely visits, but when he does, there's always a dark aura of chaos around him. I wonder if he's trying to hide something there. But I doubt I'll ever be able to get my hands on any details."
Jonathan was intrigued. He wanted to know more about this mysterious place.
"Make sure to keep me updated," he said and heard Rick chuckle.
"Of course, who else would I if not you?"
After ending the call, Jonathan rose from his seat and stepped out onto the balcony, inhaling the crisp night air. His gaze drifted downward, catching sight of Eveline stepping out of Gabriel's car.
A small smile tugged at his lips as he watched the couple from a distance. Soon, Eveline made her way inside while Gabriel drove off.
Upstairs, Eveline was about to enter her room when she noticed Jonathan approaching.
"My daughter seems to be working really hard. Is Gabriel giving you a hard time?" Jonathan asked, feigning a serious expression.
Eveline couldn't help but laugh. There was no way Jonathan would ever doubt Gabriel, knowing how deeply he loved her, so much so that he wouldn't let her lift a finger if he had a choice.
"No, he's not," she assured him. "Work got delayed, so we had to extend our hours."
Jonathan considered her words for a moment before asking, "But did you two leave on time? What made you postpone the meeting?"
Eveline hesitated. She wasn't sure if it was necessary to tell Jonathan everything that had transpired, but after a brief pause, she decided against keeping it to herself.
"We got into an accident," she admitted.
Jonathan's expression turned to shock as he immediately stepped closer, checking her over in concern.
"Why didn't you call me? Are you alright, princess?" His voice carried the edge of panic.
Eveline quickly placed a reassuring hand on his arm. "It wasn't us. It was a woman we almost crashed into her."
Jonathan's shoulders relaxed slightly, but the concern in his eyes didn't fade. "What happened exactly?"
Eveline noticed the lingering doubt in his eyes and knew he wouldn't let it go so easily.
