Rebirth of Billionaire's Wife-Chapter 390: Haunting nightmares.
Sherlyn was skeptical when Jeremy asked her to bring Kaden home. She'd been avoiding it for a while now, hesitant to bridge the worlds of her father and the man she liked. But deep down, she knew she couldn't keep them apart forever—not if things between her and Kaden were truly going somewhere.
By the time she finished the call and sat back on the edge of the bed, lost in thought, Kaden had already stepped out of the shower. Steam followed him from the bathroom, but his eyes were fixed on Sherlyn, who didn't even glance his way.
His brows drew together in concern.
Did I push things too far earlier? he wondered.
Still, when she didn't react to his presence, he cleared his throat to announce himself.
Sherlyn blinked, snapping out of her thoughts. Her gaze drifted to where he stood, his freshly showered body wrapped in nothing but a towel, damp hair tousled and clinging to his forehead. The sight was... undeniably tempting. And the man himself looked far more relaxed than he had during their earlier argument.
"Who were you talking to?" Kaden asked, his voice low, curiosity etched into his features.
A small smile curved her lips as she stood and walked slowly toward him. He had heard her on the phone but hadn't caught enough to figure out who she was speaking to.
She stopped right in front of him, close enough to feel the heat from his skin, and without a word, wrapped her arms around him.
His breath hitched. The gesture caught him off guard, and for a moment, he felt like a complete fool—for doubting her, for letting pride get in the way earlier.
"Are you not angry with me anymore?" She asked, eyes twinkling with mischief as she looked up at his flushed face.
Kaden chuckled softly, wrapping his arms around her in return. "I should be asking you that," he murmured, pressing a kiss to her temple. "I was kind of an ass."
"Yes, you were," she agreed, laughing gently against his chest. "But maybe I needed it... a little."
They stood there in silence for a beat, wrapped in each other's presence, before Kaden asked again, quieter this time, "So, who was on the phone?"
Sherlyn hesitated, pulling back just enough to meet his eyes. "My dad," she admitted.
His expression flickered—surprise, then something unreadable. "And?"
"I told him about you," she said softly. "Not everything. But enough."
Kaden was silent for a moment, then he nodded. "That's... big."
"It is," she agreed. "He wants to meet you."
"Are you sure that's what you want?" he asked, searching her face.
"I think it's what we need," Sherlyn said honestly. "If we're serious about each other, we can't keep avoiding the hard stuff."
Kaden exhaled slowly, pulling her back into his arms. "Then let's do it. Just... don't let him scare me off."
She smirked. "No promises."

The next morning, Eveline met with Gabriel, who updated her on the information Stefan had uncovered about Jeremy Norman.
He had indeed been a regular doctor who rose to fame during his prime. However, along with the recognition came a series of lawsuits. Strangely, over time, all records of those cases had vanished. Despite the controversies, he later managed to become the mayor of the country.
There were no traces of the lawsuits—no documents, no mentions. The complete erasure left even Stefan baffled.
"Something's not right, Gabriel," Eveline said, her voice laced with unease. "I have a feeling those records are being deliberately wiped."

"And what were those lawsuits about?" she asked skeptically, narrowing her eyes at him.
Gabriel pondered her question. No matter how much they searched, they simply couldn't find anything.
"I think Aunt Sherlyn might be the only one who can tell us," Gabriel muttered thoughtfully.
Eveline let out a heavy sigh and leaned back in her seat, a defeated expression settling on her face.
"But what if even she doesn't know?" She voiced her concern.
Sherlyn wouldn't have hidden anything related to Jedrick—especially knowing how much his existence had been a curse on their lives.
Gabriel didn't press the topic further. He, too, suspected Sherlyn might be unaware of Jeremy's possible connection to Jedrick.
"For now, I'm more concerned that the couple might have already resolved their differences," Eveline admitted. "You saw how furious Uncle Kaden was yesterday."
She winced slightly, the memory of the argument at Miller Mansion still giving her a dull headache.
Gabriel chuckled. "You really think Uncle Kaden can stay mad at Aunt Sherlyn? No way."
Eveline raised a questioning brow. "And how can you be so sure they've made up already?"
Gabriel leaned in slightly, his eyes lingering on her lips with an amused smirk. "Because I just know," he said, making her furrow her brows in suspicion.
She was about to argue, but deep down, she knew exactly what he meant—and that realization made her cheeks flush with heat.
"You're being too mischievous, Gabriel," she mumbled, looking away.
"Why? Are you getting shy now?" He teased, reaching over to gently pinch her chin, guiding her gaze back to his.
"Isn't it obvious?" he murmured. "After all… we make up the same way."
Her heart nearly leaped into her throat when Gabriel suddenly leaned in and claimed her lips.
It had been a while since they'd shared a moment this intimate. Their lives had become consumed by the pursuit of truth, buried in tension and uncertainty. Yet in these fleeting seconds, they found a rare reprieve—one that momentarily erased the weight of everything else.
For Gabriel, this was more than a kiss. He had been desperately trying to distract himself from the relentless dreams that plagued him—visions of Eveline's lifeless body, drenched in blood, the agony of losing her tearing through his soul night after night. The images had haunted him, leaving him wide awake and drenched in sweat more times than he could count.
But he'd never spoken of it. Not to her. Not to anyone. Because every time he opened his eyes and saw her beside him—alive, breathing—he convinced himself it was just a nightmare.
"You'll always be with me, Eve," he whispered as he pulled back from the kiss, his voice low and rough, still laced with the fear he hadn't confessed.
Eveline, lost in the haze of their closeness, missed the desperation hidden in his tone. She nodded faintly, her thoughts muddled, before he wrapped her tightly in his arms.
It took her a while to steady her breathing, her heart still racing, while Gabriel held her close and gently stroked her back—silently anchoring himself in the reality that she was still here.
"Are we just going to stay like this all day? Don't we have work to do?" She asked after a while, gently pulling back from his embrace.
Gabriel shook his head slowly, his eyes locking onto hers with a silent plea—to stay like this, just a little longer. In her arms, it was easier to pretend that everything was okay, that the nightmares weren't real.
But Eveline had other thoughts. The moment she realized he wasn't ready to let go, she slipped out of his arms and rose to her feet.
"But we have work to do, and you have a meeting to attend," she said firmly, her tone carrying a gentle authority.
It hardly fazed Gabriel. He didn't fear the meeting—what he feared was the heaviness that would return once she stepped away.
Eveline barely managed to slip away from Gabriel's side before finding a quiet, secluded spot in the corridor. Taking a steadying breath, she quickly dialed Ella's number.
"Hey, Ella. I wanted to ask you something," she said, her eyes glinting with hope as she waited for a response.
