Reborn as a Transcendent-Chapter 659: I Am Both Your Brother And Sister.
“This smells amazing! So delicious! Chef One, you’re incredible!” Little Blue exclaimed, positively ecstatic.
“That’s right! Chef One is the best in the whole world!” Vera 17 and 18 chimed in, voices full of admiration.
Inside the room, Vera 1, 2, and 3 snapped back to reality and exchanged glances. A wave of shame washed over them. Their faces flushed crimson, and it almost felt like steam could burst from their heads at any moment.
“That despicable demon!” Vera 1 growled, clenching her small fists in fury.
“As awful as that demon is, our cowardly sisters are even worse!” Vera 2 snapped, her body trembling with resentment.
“They’re serving the tyrant!” Even the usually composed Vera 3 couldn’t hold back her anger.
The betrayal stung—she was genuinely disappointed in her so-called sisters.
Just then, Little Blue turned toward the door and called out playfully, “Number One, Two, and Three! Want some? It’s delicious!”
“No!” Vera 1 shouted back immediately. “We’ll never eat anything that demon gives us!” She knew this was just another ploy to break them down—and she wouldn’t fall for it.
“Even if we starve to death, we won’t touch her food!” Vera 2 and 3 declared in unison.
“Oh well, suit yourselves,” Little Blue said with a shrug. “Seventeen, Eighteen—let’s keep eating!”
“Mm-hmm!” the two nodded eagerly and dug back in, happily munching away. It wasn’t that they were heartless—they just couldn’t resist how good the food was.
Besides, they didn’t dare sneak food to Vera 1, 2, and 3. If Master found out, they’d be in for a serious beating.
‘Master wouldn’t actually let them starve…’ they reassured themselves as they ate.
The tantalizing aroma and the cheerful sounds of eating outside made Vera 1, 2, and 3 gulp down saliva as hunger twisted painfully in their stomachs.
“I’m so hungry… I just want to eat…” Vera 2 whispered weakly.
“You have to endure it. We can’t give in,” Vera 1 murmured, hugging her tightly.
“That’s right. Even if we’re destined to lose, we’ll lose with dignity.” Vera 3 gently stroked Vera 2’s hair, her voice solemn.
Vera 2 nodded slowly, steeling herself with newfound resolve.
Over ten minutes later, the chewing noises faded, and the once mouthwatering aromas had nearly vanished. Chef One wheeled the empty dish-laden cart back to the kitchen, ready to begin the next round of cooking.
“So good, so good~” Little Blue sighed contentedly, patting her barely bulging stomach. The thought of another upcoming meal filled her with glee—and judging by their shining eyes, her two companions felt the same.
Back inside, Vera 1, 2, and 3 clung to one another, whispering encouragement even as their stomachs roared like thunderclouds. If not for their sheer willpower, they would’ve broken down long ago—on their knees, begging that demon for just one bite.
Half an hour later, just as they finished enduring one round of torment, another wave of horror returned—relentless and unforgiving. Little did they know, this torment would likely continue until morning.
Meanwhile, after assigning Little Blue to deal with the trio, Yaeger returned to her room and collapsed onto her soft bed. “I’m exhausted… So much happened yesterday,” she murmured, eyes fixed on the high ceiling above her.
Though it had only been a day, it felt like an entire year had gone by. Yaeger’s life was anything but peaceful right now. But she wasn’t exactly enjoying this so-called productivity.
“Let’s rest a bit. I still have over ten hours to stay online today…” Now that she was on the Jade Empire’s wanted list, she had to stay logged in at least fourteen hours a day for the next week.
If she didn’t get some rest now, she risked getting booted from the game later due to exhaustion.
With a long exhale, she slowly closed her eyes and let her body relax. But just as she was drifting off, her phone buzzed to life.
“Who’s texting me at this hour…?” she groaned, cracking one eye open and glancing toward her nightstand. Her BigMi phone screen glowed faintly in the dim room, casting soft light across the bedside.
She picked it up—it was a message from her sister.
Mylene: Brother, I’m homeless!!
The message jolted Yaeger wide awake. She sat up and quickly began typing a reply. But just as she was about to send it, she remembered—this was Yaeger’s phone, not Yae-hime’s.
“Close call!” she muttered, hastily deleting the message and rewriting it in her usual brotherly tone before hitting send.
Yaeger: Mylene, are you okay? What do you mean you’re homeless?
Her phone chimed almost immediately.
Mylene: Brother, I feel terrible!
I went to Lil’ Sachiel’s hotel for supper, and when I got home… the whole place was wrecked!
Grandpa was almost killed by two intruders!
Yaeger’s eyelids twitched uncontrollably as she read the string of messages.
‘Old Man Tian almost got killed? That had to be unrelated. I didn’t know anything! Not my fault!'
There was no way she could’ve known her sister would go out for supper at that exact time. If Old Man Tian had really been killed by those S-ranked Transcendents, she would’ve been wracked with guilt.
They weren’t true enemies, after all. And more importantly, he was Mylene’s grandfather. If anything happened to him, her sister would be heartbroken.
Yaeger: Is Grandpa hurt? Is it serious?
She asked in a rush. If his injuries were serious, she’d be willing to come over and offer treatment herself.
The reply came in an instant.
Mylene: Not really. His old injuries just flared up during the fight and he nearly didn’t make it. Sob sob sob
But don’t worry about that!
What really sucks is… I can’t sleep without my little bear plushie.
Why don’t you come let me cuddle you tonight~?
Ahaha, kidding! 😉
Yaeger: I’m glad Grandpa’s okay. Roc City’s a mess lately—stay safe, alright?
Mylene: Of course. You too, Brother.
By the way, when will you be free? I want you to have dinner with me and Sis so you two can get to know each other!
Yaeger: I’m a bit tied up right now. Once I’m done handling things, I’ll join you both for a meal.
Mylene: You better not go back on your word!
“Sigh… Mylene, that’s a promise I can never keep,” Yaeger murmured, shaking her head after sending the message. “Because I’m both your brother… and your sister.”
A sudden wave of emotion washed over her, and she felt the sting of tears rising. [Dream Transformation] had indeed given her the power to protect herself—but the price was steep. If she couldn’t reverse the transformation within a month, her male identity—her second life—would be lost forever.
“What a nightmare…” With a tired sigh, Yaeger set her phone aside and slowly closed her eyes.
At that same moment, in the United States’ 11th District—on the top floor of the Homeland Security headquarters— A rugged man in his late forties, with salt-and-pepper hair, a broad-shouldered frame, and a pitch-black eyepatch over his right eye, stared at the photo in his hand with wide-eyed disbelief.
“Almighty Yahweh… what the hell is that?!”
