Rolling her eyes dramatically, Maureen walked in first with the rest following closely behind her, as if she was their shield in the upcoming battle.

"Put the sword away Edward." Maureen melted into the fluffy sofa, and so did her companions who stuck to her like glue.

Right away, Rekha who felt like the biggest sinner got to apologizing. "Uncle Edward I am sorry for everything, all of it. I should have told you that my memories returned or what Phoebe was up to or that aunt Maureen was a guardian, but I just couldn't because I thought that you would stop me from avenging my family." She paused suddenly, a pulse throbbing in her ears, quick and erratic.

It was the beating of her own heart which was louder than the bass from a speaker in a nightclub.

Raising her hand, Phoebe apologized for her part as well in thought. The words somehow remained stuck in her throat. [I am deeply sorry father; I was keeping secrets for your sake.]

Her thought melted the betrayal that glinted in Edward's eyes. His daughter was protecting him in the end, additionally, he was the one that forbade her from talking about anything to do with Cillian and the academy, so she was not to blame.

He shifted his eyes to Maureen, he was not expecting much in the form of an apology but at least he wanted to hear an admission from her about betraying him.

She feigned a cough. "Cut the bullshit girls! You have nothing to apologize for, I know I don't." Her gaze bore into that of her brother; she watched his knuckles turn white when his fingers gripped the sword. "We are independent adults Edward, you don't get to decide how we want to live our lives. You kept your secrets we also have the right to keep ours." Her unapologetic eyes bore into his uptight ones.

It was as Edward expected, Maureen was not going to apologize but she was going to defend herself with every excuse in the Holy book. It seemed he had to outline her mistakes properly.

"How can you think that you did nothing wrong Maureen? You put my daughter's life in danger by allowing her to hunt dangerous creatures and demons! Even when you found out that she was pregnant, you let her continue on with this carelessness. What would you have said to me if she died?" Edward's scathing looks sized her, judging her. frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓

"Dad..." Phoebe started.

"Shhhh!" Edward put a finger on his lips, keeping his eyes on Maureen and continuing. "You are my sister. While I was doing my best to protect you and our family, you lied and betrayed me by joining the academy!" The words slipped out lip tight.

Maureen surged up fists clenched at his audacity. "You! Edward out of all people should not be talking about betrayal, especially after you lied to me about the circumstances surrounding father's death. I refuse to be guilt tripped or morally kidnapped by you.

If you had told me that some people in the academy had played a role in the death of our father, I would have talked to you before joining and we would have made a plan.

Who knows? Maybe we would have found father already by now. You are the one that would not talk about father or his death, you would not answer my questions, so I joined the academy to investigate his death personally, something that you run away from. Someone had to have the balls to do it." Her jaw barely moved as she ground out the words.

"Balls!" Edward sneered.

"Yes Edward, those two round dangling eggs between your legs which men believe make them men." She snapped.

"That is not what it means." Rekha pitched in.

"Shhh!" Phoebe silenced her. "Let them work it out, we are safe from his wrath." she whispered.

Maureen was taking the brunt of it all so why not let her?

"Admit your fault and I will admit mine." Maureen said. She leaned forward and looked at her brother pointedly. Edward knew what that stubborn look on her face meant. Their fights, growing up, always went like this. She would not admit her faults unless he succumbed first.

Letting out a soft growl, Edward admitted his fault in the matter. "Fine, I apologize Maureen, I should have told you and mother the truth, but I was afraid of what you two would do. These are dangerous people Maureen, and I feared that they could hurt the rest of the family if we poked around in the wrong places." He lowered his head like it was too heavy for his neck to lift.

The frost in Maureen's eyes melted away, she had not known her brother to easily apologize, if he was doing it then he meant every word. "I accept your apology, and I apologize for my role in all this too. It must have been hard on you carrying the secrets, grieving while keeping the business going and raising your children and Rekha.

I wish you would have told me; I would have helped you. We can't undo the past now, so we just have to keep moving forward. Thanks to Rekha's memories, at least we know what Azur looks like and the fact that he is not in prison. As for me taking Phoebe on hunts, it's because she is in training and I am her teacher. We have to keep going even through her pregnancy. She needs to strengthen up as soon as possible for she has a crucial part in the upcoming war."

Upon hearing her words, Edward's wide eyes drifted to Phoebe. "Crucial part? What Crucial part?" He shut his eyes briefly and took a deep breath. It seemed there was yet another secret that he did not know. "My child I do not understand why you cannot just tell me all these things but tell the others. I heard to hear from uncle Rufus about your rebirth and that of David! That is not fair, I thought were as close as best friends. What else don't I know?" His gaze implored her, desperate for honesty.

The door burst wide open suddenly, a number of people stood there, all Mayfair's that had been eavesdropping on the conversation.

"Rebirth? My God? What do you mean Edward?" Jennie staggered in, followed by the rest of the Mayfair's except for grandma Mayfair who walked in with David at a slower pace because they were all caught up on the secrets being revealed.

His eyes leveled to meet with Phoebe's. "I guess it is time that we tell them love." David nodded gently.

Everyone settled down. Then, David and Phoebe took turns to tell their parts of the story, silence hovered in the room when they were done.

"Just so you know Ruth is back, so you all need to be careful after all, she bears a grudge against all of us." David warned.
