Reborn ghost seeing lady is pampered by her ex husband-Chapter 630: Demon host
Chapter 630: Demon host
Maureen did the same, trying to get to her father and the result was the same. "What is this? Some kind of prison?" She placed her hand on the barrier and began to chant a spell that would break it.
Phoebe and Rekha stepped forward to help, chanting as well. Luna just wanted to shoot it meanwhile, she was sure Phoebe’s supernatural bullets would break the barrier.
"I would not do that if I were you." A male voice rolled over them. It rung in their ears like bells and made them feel the urge to kneel or cover those ears. The voice carried overwhelming power.
A man appeared before them, but he was no man as he had the biggest and purest white wings that they had ever seen. His hair was white too and it fell to his back, flying through gently with every caress of the wind. His eyes were light gold, and his clothes were white as well, like battle armor but white with lines of gold.
Those with knowledge on the supernatural had a pretty good idea of what they were looking at.
"Careful." Maureen managed to warn them.
Everyone except Phoebe perked back on alarm, blades, clearing sheaths in a flash of steel as the winged creature approached before them, brandishing a gigantic sword that could only be seen in an animation, being wielded by an extraordinary superhero.
Maureen decided that a knife was not enough. There was a saying in the academy, ’You would rather trust a vampire not to suck your blood than an angel to have your back.’
This was because their kind was mission oriented, if they received a mission, no matter what they were doing, they would drop it and vanish. If you were in the midst of a battle and it happened, you would be left by myself. If you were injured and dying and they were instructed not to save you, they would leave you for dead. Obedience of the highest power was their sacred oath and belief.
Maureen was a strong believer in keeping all things angel at a very wide distance.
Phoebe stretched her arm, motioning them to drop the weapons. "It is alright guys; he is a friend." She assured them even though she believed her words only halfway.
"Sorry about this." He gave the sword a casual shake. "I am...."
"Ramiel." Phoebe cut him off saying the name.
Ramiel smiled, exposing the deep dimples in his cheeks. "Of course, you know who I am, you are among the special humans chosen to fulfill great destinies. Like many others I have wondered why the heavens decided to choose a grand guardian that is a baby. How is she going to help you humans to fight against these demons? Although your kind is to blame for demon plague in the first place and even if you do win, they will just pick up where they left off soon enough so saving them is questionable." There was a hint of sarcasm in his voice.
A scoff escaped both Phoebe and Maureen. "That is not your concern, you should tell us why you have my father locked up all these years." She snapped at him, wishing that she could cut a wing off him with her dagger so that he would not be able to fly away without providing answers.
Angels were irritatingly cryptic most of the time. Getting an answer out of one was like questioning your cat about who stole a piece of meat. Even if the cat had a reason for its actions, it could not provide an answer and even if it did, you would not understand anyway.
Cillian had started paying attention to the guests when Ramiel arrived. Their conversation reached his ears, and he blinked rapidly. He wondered if he was hallucinating, Had the woman facing Ramiel really said that she was his daughter.
In that case, this was Maureen. He had only one daughter after all.
"My...my daughter." He loudly spoke up. "I am not hallucinating. Is that you Maureen and Rebecca it really is you and Edward? What are you all doing here? My God! you have grown..." he folded his lips.
"Yes, it is me." Rebecca confirmed. Her eyes were already becoming teary.
With his face raised properly, they noticed that Cillian had barely aged, he looked almost the same from the time he vanished.
"How do you look....?" Edward pointed to his face, frowning because he was confused.
Ramiel laughed knowingly. "Time passes by like sand in one’s fingers in your human world but here time moves slower. Cillian has only been here for five years." He gave them information.
They not only gasped from the shock but gawked at the angel like he was insane.
"It has been twenty years!" Andre loudly shared.
Grandma Mayfair shook her head and let out a tired sigh, all these supernatural things just got crazier and crazier. So, she was now older than her husband!! How did that make sense?
"Forget that, why is he in chains? That winged ugly creature said that you guys have been kind to him but all I see is you torturing him." Her sorrowful gaze fell on her husband.
The male elf scowled. Had the old human woman just called him ugly? Could she take a look at her wrinkled self-first?
Letting out a whimpering sound suddenly, Cillian sniveled. "Edward, you guys have to help me or else that watcher will kill me. They have kept me here against my will." He cried out to them in pain.
Star poked her mother. "Mother, don’t let him out, that is the demon talking not great grandpa." She desperately said.
"Demon!" Phoebe took a step back instinctively.
Her words earning her quizzical glances, this was Elythion and demons were forbidden here as far as they had been taught in the academy.
"Where is the demon?" Maureen looked around carefully.
Luna and Rekha pointed their guns out, ready to fire at as if they were guests at a firing range.
"Yes, there is a demon inside of his body." Ramiel confirmed to the Mayfair’s. "I do not have much time so I will try to take you this as quickly as I can. I am the one that brought Cillian here. He and I were once friends, but we fell out because he thought that I was selfish because I was not helping the humans enough.
I accompanied him on one of his hunts when he was facing some wraiths. I am bound by the laws which govern my kind, and I refused to save a pregnant woman. You see, at the time I was a watcher that had been sent to the mortal world as a punishment for interfering with the fate of a human. I was trying to return to heaven so I could not break the rules again. We never spoke from that day so imagine when I was shocked when he called for me as he was dying." He paused, swallowing deeply.
Phoebe shrugged. "You helped him, why did you not help the pregnant woman? They are both humans, what made my grandfather’s case different?"
