Reborn in the Survival Adventure Game-Chapter 67: The Light Begins
Chapter 67 - 67: The Light Begins
Morning sunlight touched the rooftops of the village as Caelen stepped outside, rubbing his eyes. Today was the day. The electricity project had taken almost a week. Everyone worked hard—Garin dug with the kids, Borin carved wood and stone, Dorgrim shaped copper wires, and Zira helped wherever she could.
Now... it was time to test it.
Caelen walked to the river where Borin and Dorgrim were already waiting. The wooden waterwheel stood proudly, half-submerged in the stream. It turned slowly from the gentle current.
"Morning," Caelen said, smiling.
Borin yawned. "You better pray this works, boy. I didn't carve that thing just for it to spin like a toy."
Dorgrim laughed. "We've got the wires ready. Coils are in place."
Caelen nodded, then walked to the small box made of stone and wood where the coil and magnet system had been hidden. He checked everything again, just in case.
"Alright. Let's try."
He gave a signal. Borin opened a wooden gate, letting more water rush to the wheel. The wheel spun faster. The shaft inside turned, spinning the copper coils around magnets. Nothing exploded. Good sign.
Dorgrim ran inside the small shed where the wires led. He stared at the metal rod stuck into the ground and the small metal bulb above it.
Caelen held his breath. "Anything?"
A faint glow came from the bulb.
Dorgrim gasped. "It's working! The bulb's glowing!"
Caelen grinned wide. "We did it."
Borin stepped back, crossing his arms. "Huh. I don't get how invisible stuff is coming from water, but I like it."
"We made electricity," Caelen said proudly. "It's not much yet, but it's real."
Zira and Garin showed up not long after. Zira stared at the glowing bulb with wide eyes.
"What... is that?" she asked.
"Light," Caelen said. "From the river."
Garin scratched his head. "Are you telling me we don't need fire anymore?"
"Not for everything," Caelen chuckled. "We'll still use fire for cooking. But now, we can make lights. Maybe more."

Later that day, they moved the wires into the schoolhouse and town hall. Caelen carefully attached them to a metal box with another coil and bulb. Once connected to the spinning wheel, the light flickered on.
The children inside gasped. "It's like magic!"
Tikka, standing at the front of the class, clapped her hands. "No magic. It's science. Mister Caelen taught me!"
The kids laughed and reached up toward the light, amazed by how it glowed without flame.
Caelen watched from the doorway, feeling proud.
That evening, Caelen sat at the table in the town hall. Elira, Zira, Garin, Borin, and Dorgrim joined him. Plates of food were set, and candles lit the room—though now, they had one working light above them too.
"I know we still have a long way to go," Caelen said, "but I want to thank everyone. What we did today... it's more than just a project. It's a step forward. A sign of what's possible."
They raised their cups.
"To the light!" Dorgrim said.
"To the light!" everyone echoed.
After dinner, Caelen stepped outside. The night sky was clear. The stars above looked a little brighter, or maybe it was just his mood.
He opened his system.

You've brought a spark of your world into this one. Keep going.
He smiled.
"I will."
Just as he was about to go back inside, he heard footsteps. It was Tikka, carrying a small wooden box.
"Teacher Caelen!" she called.
He turned to her. "Hey, what's up?"
"I made something!" She opened the box and showed him a tiny wooden model of the waterwheel.
"I used what I learned in science class," she said proudly. "Maybe one day I can make a real one."
Caelen crouched down and smiled. "I'm sure you will. In fact, maybe you'll make something even better."
She beamed. "You think so?"
"I know so."
