Chapter 48 - 48- Even smaller world

Under the continuous heavy snow, Mitchell's hair turned white and his sounds were numb now. He had already healed the external wounds so now he was not in danger of bleeding to death.

Even with the low visibility, he sighted a very tall and wide tree in the distance. The tree was old and its bark was cracked from the extreme cold.

When Mitchell came closer to it, he saw a hole in the trunk and the inside seemed to be hollow. Now that he was very close to the tree he saw it was dead. It had died a long time ago from the freezing cold.

Mitchell climbed into the hole and was surprised to see that it was truly hollow inside. He could feel the cold coming from the outside through the trunk.

He used some snow and water to block the hole he climbed in from to prevent the cold from seeping in.

Immediately he was done he started circulating his Qi to remove the coldness from his body. His hand had nearly frozen off from frostbite and he could hardly breathe through his nostrils.

'In for a pound, out for a penny . . . or how did they say it again'. He still continued to joke with himself to keep his mind preoccupied and himself sane.

Without Jack to talk to and no reasonable human to speak with he was slowly going crazy, only talking to himself seemed to make the process slower but he was still turning mad by the day.

"No how do I get out of this small world". The reason why small worlds were so dangerous was besides the dangerous weather and the lurking beasts, getting out was next to impossible.

To get out you needed to do either of these two things- one, you had to get permission to leave the small world from the guardian. The guardian is the ruler of the small world so no matter what level you are at, as far as you are below the guardian in strength you needed its permission to leave while the second was to exchange something for your leave. You have to give something to the world to make it accept your request to leave. But it could differ from each small world.

All small worlds had something they had in abundance and lacked as well so the world could ask you to give something you don't have.

The second method was so hard that people hardly ever did it since they do not have what the world wanted o they try to get permission from the guardian high is another difficulty on its own.

The world didn't allow people stronger than the guardian to enter so beating it was out of the option. The guardian had to just let you go if it had no particular use for you in the world.

But even getting an audience with the world was hard enough since they were either asleep or their location was too far to get to.

You might not even know where the guardian resides and could go on a meaningless journey that would cost you your life.

Mitchell wanted to light a fire but couldn't do so in his condition. He had to circulate his Qi first and heal his already breaking down body.

The cold aided and worsened his condition. It aided by making the clotting process faster and worsened by preventing his blood and flesh from healing.

'*Sigh* even in freedom there is still slavery.' He gave out a broken laugh but no one could hear due to the raging blizzard that covered everything in white.

'This is the perfect time to check all the items I've looted'. He started bringing out the various items from the spatial rings.

They ranged from weapons to potions, armor techniques. Several talismans that offered protection against certain levels of power, even attacking talismans.

Since these were mostly from low level amateurs, their value to Mitchell was a most negligible.

So far, the only things he had been interested in were the techniques, the armors and the potions.

There was also a slip that gave the spirit realm levels for certain equipment.

For weapns, armor and cultivation techniques they were;

Profound

Earthly

Heavenly

Mystical

Ancient

Sacred

Legendary and

Divine or otherwise known as god-level tier.

The rankings for beasts were as follows

Magical

Earthly

Heavenly

Mystical

Sacred

Legendary and

Divine

The normal level beasts he and most cultivators normally fought against were magical beasts. Those that had a high level of intelligence and their abilities were hard to comprehend and fight against were from the earthly tier and up.

Beasts from sacred tier up were so rare that people could go centuries without ever seeing one. Their existences could evaporate a portion of a large county with one attack.

But with more power came more intelligence so they hardly ever used their powers to attack except if they felt threatened.

Normally they were calm and preferred life long isolation and sleep. Also they only ventured out when they wanted to stretched their limbs or they wanted to increase their level of cultivation.

'Wow. So much information I didn't know about until now. I wonder which rank the crimson dragon was before it entered godhood. Wait am I that dumb, its already in god level tier.'

The newfound knowledge made Mitchell know more about the spirit realm and things he didn't even know exist.

The slip contained more than that but he would continue to research at a better time and when he wasn't in the path to sure and eminent death.

There were also food. Good food, not the meat he harvested from beasts that looked edible and roasted over open fire. Real food.

Also a cultivator seemed to have a toilet. A real toilet. That used to water. "Could this day get any better" he thought inwardly then remembered the difficult situation he was in and smiled wryly.

But the good news of a usable water toilet made most of his worries vanish into thin air.

After these three months in the trial lands, he had learned to accept his new best friend-pain. They had been through thick and thin and he had always accompanied Mitchell in his journey or was etched in the dark recesses of his mind.

The pain in his mangled flesh was blinding but he had been forced to get used to it and he handled it well.

********

Two weeks passed while Mitchell was still in the small world. He would often go out to search for a way out or to find any other signs of construction, but would always come back because of the freezing cold.

For the first time during these two weeks, the blizzard stopped or reduced to mere light snowfall. He came out from the hollow tree he had taken refuge in for days now and saw the landscape for the first time.

He was in a snowy terrain that was once a grassland but had been teraformed after the snow came.

There were no signs of life except for trees that were as empty as the one he was in or for a few snow type beasts that sometimes ignored his existence and would always avoid him.

The snowy plain stretched as far as he could see but there was no sign of building construction in his eyes.

'Where could the guardian possibly be. There are no constructs around or could it be deep underground'. Those were his thoughts after he had seen the land around him . . . until he looked up.

He did not know how long it took for him to notice that there was a huge white castle in the sky upside down from his point of view. In fact if he were up there, he would think he was the one upside down.

Not only that , all the building constructs he hoped to find were actually in the sky as well hanging upside down.

Now that he noticed the castle, the snow seemed to fall from the castle itself and the blizzard stopped because of the ice volcano that was also hanging upside down in the sky had stopped erupting.

''Everything here is freaky". He said to himself.

Now he was sure the guardian would be in the castle, if not the volcano but the problem lied in getting there first. He could not fly as of now. Cultivators could not fly until they reached the golden core realm.

'This is going to be tricky'. Since the snow coming from the ice volcano had stopped, he could now move freely and the cold that used to bother him up till the point he had to return to the tree after a short while was almost negligible.

The good news in all this was that the magical beasts he had met seemed to not care about existence and would avoid him as much as he avoided them and that there were no humans in the small world for him to be wary of.

Despite the fact that beasts held unimaginable amount of power and their potential was unlimited, when faced with the true masters of deception, they could make all that power crumble.

Humans special aspect was their deceptiveness and the lack of contentment. What ever they see, they took. Human wants female, he takes, human wants money, he plunders, human wants power, he kills.

There was no end to their shameless behavior so the idea of spending some quality time with magical beasts that he would rather have as neighbors than cunning humans who would take every advantage at your downfall was refreshing.
