Reincarnated As A Lion In Another World-Chapter 224: Six Times
"I reject," Adolf said with a straight face.
Kael’s brows twitched, but he kept a calm expression. Not everything was going to go his way, he had to keep it at the back of his mind.
Chloe was also surprised, she hadn’t expected Adolf to reject it so quickly, did he think Kael was playing games?
Indeed, Adolf still had the mind to salvage something for himself. He knew that his life was on the line but he wasn’t willing to give up his freedom so easily.
Yes, he feared death, but what if Kael ordered him to kill himself at some point in the future, would he be able to disobey?
Maybe, he could negotiate.
"Hmm, okay," Kael said before turning around and walking away, "Chloe, let’s go to the hangar…"
Kael walked past Chloe without looking back at Adolf’s shocked expression. He had expected Kael to ask him why he rejected it, not walk away.
Chloe, with the info orbs in her hand, turned around and was about to follow after Kael.
"Wait! Where are you going?" Adolf asked, panicked.
"To the main world, of course, he has important things to do," Kael did reply to Adolf’s question so Chloe did it for him.
Chloe was not only indirectly implying that Adolf was not that important and that Kael would waste his time with him, but she was also saying that he would be left here, all alone while Kael goes to the main world.
"But… Five times!" Adolf blurted as he saw them creating more distance from him. Chloe was merciless, she didn’t even try to beg Kael.
"Please!" Adolf said. He couldn’t bear to be here, trapped till he died. His body was using whatever nutrients it had left to heal his injuries, if he didn’t eat something soon, he may die before Kael came back to check on him.
But at the same time, he found it hard to accept that second condition. Seven was too much. Kael wasn’t his father or one of the Princes of his clan that he would be obligated to obey. He didn’t grow up with Kael in some way that made them familiar with each other.
Naturally, he felt reluctant to agree.
Kael’s steps paused, feeling the churning Conquering Essence within him.
Space twisted as he disappeared from his position and appeared in front of Adolf’s large frame again.
If it was the time before his current life, the sight of Adolf’s large body would have amazed and scared him at the same time. A lion just as tall as a human adult, was incredible.
But now, he looked down at Adolf with nothing but indifference and a bit of annoyance.
Kael knew that he could be at Adolf till the latter had no choice but to accept the contract the way it was. He could treat Adolf the same way he had treated Burdo, his brother.
But this was an experiment, a test of his limits and the rules surrounding the formation of contracts.
"Six," Kael said coldly, "Six, take it or die here,"
Adolf was delighted that Kael came back, but he still didn’t like the second condition being changed to six. Six and seven, there was hardly any difference.
"Fine, I accept," Adolf said with a depressed sigh. Perhaps if he had his father’s intelligence, he could have known what to do.
Kael suddenly revealed a smile that sent chills down Adolf’s spine, he had a feeling he had just done something wrong to himself.
Six was still enough for anything to happen.
As soon as Adolf agreed, the contract paper appeared in front of his head again before disappearing.
Automatically, Adolf’s identity mark was added to the Lion System which was still updating.
Now, Kael could directly send Adolf missions wherever he was without having to meet him physically.
Now that Kael thought about it, those missions he used to give through the system were contracts in one way or the other.
*TSH!
The meta strings wrapped around Adolf’s limbs loosened and retracted into the ground.
Adolf was about to activate the Recall rune but hesitated. There was some kind of golden screen flashing in front of his eyes, and Kael was just standing there with an uncomfortable smile on his face.
Kael was delighted, he had gotten the son of a lion king through unscrupulous means. This was an asset, a possible future lion king.
Now under his control.
"Don’t try to tell anyone about this, if not…" Kael said with a devious smile to the troubled Fire Lion.
"I’ll give you my orders through the Lion System. Don’t forget the first condition too, tell Xu Ying to find a way for him to meet me in the real world.
I’ll be waiting for him,"
And with that, Kael and Chloe turned away to all back to the elevator that brought them here. Adolf noticed that Chloe carried herself higher than she usually did, her back was straight and her eyes were clear.
She was still that free-spirited Chloe he was acquainted with, except now, her confidence was shooting through the roof.
Even with their backs turned to him, Adolf didn’t even think of attacking. He had sensed that something about Chloe was different, he couldn’t tell what it was but he knew she was different from before.
A power upgrade, maybe.
Envy dripped from the cracks of Adolf’s psyche. He was envious of Kael’s status and power, he was envious of how everything seemed to have fallen into Kael’s laps as the Primordial Lion.
He might be the son of a Lion King, but compared to Kael who had predecessors who had begun new eras for the lion race, Adolf’s background was nothing.
*Sigh!*
Adolf activated the recall rune on his body, causing it to light up with multi-colored lights.
Within the space of the fifth level, amid the many pillars, a portal appeared, expanding slowly with a suction force focused only on Adolf.
Adolf gave one last gaze at the two figures before being sucked into the portal. The spatial waves faded away and the fifth level descended into a silent world once again.
Meanwhile, Kael sensed the spatial rift and confirmed that Adolf had left the Pyramid. He decided not to lock on to the coordinates, leaving things as they were.
With all that done, he pushed Adolf and Xu Ying’s matter to the back of his mind.
Together, both Chloe and Kael went down to the third level again, and then to the hangar.
On the way there, Kael had begun to browse through the contents of the info orbs, increasing his vault of knowledge.
"So Origin Essence is related to the Law Of Origin, how did the author know this? Who compelled his info orb? What about the powder Natalia spoke about?" The more Kael read, the more questions he was starting to have.
This was the kind of subject he would love to sit down and discuss with someone like N’bayé or the likes of Xu Ying.
The contents of this info orbs could help him understand his own Law Of Conquering on a deeper level.
Kael flashed his will through the info orb, looking for the name of the lion or lioness who compelled this info orb.
He found that this info orb was the accumulation of more than one lion’s knowledge. After years of research, gathering information, observations, and experimentations, this info orb was created.
Kael also didn’t know if the contents of this orb were synchronized with the modern lion civilization. After all, this was knowledge from the time of Noel.
"Kael, the squids and octopuses…" Chloe mentioned this time as they walked to the Iron Blood Shuttle.
The whole hangar was designed to preserve the shuttles within for as long as possible. So much time had passed and one would doubt if these two shuttles within the hangar were still at their optimal functionality.
"Most of them are dead. The army we’re building would benefit from their ’sacrifice’," Kael responded.
The two of them stood in front of the red and black shuttle that had a length of one kilometer.
To think a vehicle with a length of one kilometer could be parked within a closed space was amazing.
’Open,’ Kael commanded and one of the large doors slid into the body of the shuttle.
Stair platforms hovered out of a section below the door and arranged themselves in front of the two.
"Wait, Kael, do we have enough energy to power this shuttle?" Chloe asked, to which Kael nodded.
He split his mind into two, one part focused on the info orbs in his hand, and the other part was used to attend to everything else. At Kael’s current level, this was very easy for him to do.
One step at a time, they walked up the stairs into the shuttle, after which the door slid shut and the floating stairs flew back into their compartment.
As Kael entered, the shuttle hummed to life, welcoming its new owner and giving him a pre-set list of commands and control he was privileged with.
This was Kael’s first time inside a shuttle, yet he navigated his way through the corridors and metal halls like he had been here before. He ignored all the rooms and went straight for the command bridge.
Soon, after close to an hour since Chloe and Kael entered the shuttle, something changed.
The hangar that had previously been quiet for eons echoed with purpose once again. The gates groaned, moving their gigantic mass ever so slightly to connect the insides to the outside world.
One by one, the runes and magic lines etched on the body of the magic shuttle lit up and the white vessel began to emit a low humming sound.
The Iron Blood Shuttle was ready to fly.
