Reincarnated as the Elder's son: My Infinite Shop Points System-Chapter 52: The blue dragon.
Chapter 52: The blue dragon.
"Everyone! Get away from the bushes!"
Jared made sure he shouted as loud as he could, trying to get everyone to step away from there.
The entire site was surrounded by trees and bushes; the only reason some parts seemed less dense than others was because most of the trees were being cut down for construction.
In other words, while everyone indeed heard Jared’s warning, they couldn’t quite tell which part of the bushes he was talking about.
Not only did this now lead to confusion, it also caused a bit of panic as everyone couldn’t tell where they should head.
Well, there was only one place.
"Come on! Hurry!"
That was Jessica, taking the initiative to move to the center of the site, her hand resting on an uncompleted building.
The others followed, of course; it was easier to follow someone than make decisions when confused or lost.
But as they did, they all expected Jared to do the same thing. It was only normal. If there was truly danger in the bushes, though they didn’t know what it could be, their own leader should be the first to head to safety.
As if.
Jared wasn’t the type to needlessly throw people to the front while he simply does nothing, most especially his workers.
Charging forward at full speed, Jared suddenly stopped in front of the bushes.
His eyes fixed on them.
While he was sitting on the log, he saw something sneak out of the bushes, rather, the hand of something. It had claws and looked to be a wild animal.
If Jared hadn’t shouted the way he did, whatever beast was hiding in the bushes right now would have snatched a villager.
[A beast stares at you with wry.]
’I knew it. So I wasn’t wrong.
’Having a wild beast where my workers are is a bad call. I don’t know how strong the beast is, but the fact it hasn’t attacked means it is somewhat afraid.
’Still, I have to kill it, or at least scare it. If not, it will definitely come back to finish what it started.’
[You have purchased a steel blade.]
[600 sp has been deducted.]
Upon his purchase, a bright blue light licked his skin; it wasn’t flashy, but it was bright enough to catch the attention of others who were observing him.
Like it had always been there, the blade appeared in his grasp, long, sharp, and slim. Holding it, Jared could tell the sword was sharp enough to cut a human arm off with just one swing.
"I know you’re in there. Might as well come out."
Jared invited the monster forward. Knowing if it was intelligent enough to understand when it’s being threatened was key; it would let him understand the kind of monster he was able to face.
Who’s to say if he reached into the bushes he couldn’t get his entire arm bitten off?
Things like that happen a lot in horror movies, so of course he was going to be careful about it.
Suddenly, the bushes shook a bit, and then he saw it: two red glowing eyes, almost as if one stored glowing blood inside a small crystal.
The stoic expression still remained on Jared’s face, blade pointed in the monster’s direction.
Should the monster try to launch any type of attack, Jared wouldn’t think twice to retaliate. Yes, that was the best way, allowing the monster to make the first move.
Ding!
A familiar sound rang in his head.
[The god of information’s blessing has been activated.]
[The blue dragon would like to communicate with you.]
’The blue dragon?’
Soon, he realized... The monster currently hiding in the bushes, could it be a dragon?
Was he seriously aiming such a weak weapon at a dragon?
’No, no, wait, the system might not even be talking about the monster in the bushes. I shouldn’t jump to conclusions.’
"I accept."
[Connection between the blue dragon and the Elder has been made.]
[You can now communicate with the Blue dragon.]
『You who have the blood of the gods, why are you in a place of humans?』
The blood of the gods?
Seeing as the monster hiding in the bushes had slowly begun to show itself, it was safe to assume it was indeed the blue dragon.
In a situation like this, most would most likely either run or try to attack it.
It was a dragon after all.
In this world, dragons were no different from demons and witches. Because they were strong, they had pride and high egos, making them not only threats to others but also to themselves.
A few hundred years back, there was a story of an ancient dragon that challenged the gods and lost painfully. Because of this, the dragon was angered and took it out on the humans.
That event was said to be the great disaster, an event that almost brought the world to extinction.
How was Jared aware of this? It was simple: before his reincarnation, he used to study ancient mythology in his spare time.
Actually, he was the only one who studied at all, or at least the only one he was aware of.
In short, Jared knew dragons to be much bigger, so there was no way it could fit inside such a small bush.
Which only meant one thing—this dragon was one of those.
"Why is a dragon such as yourself hiding and trying to hunt for humans? Last I checked, humans are the last thing your kind want to be around."
There was an eerie silence, which made it easier for Jared to tell the other villagers were gossiping about his actions.
They most likely thought he had gone mad, talking to a bush the way he was.
『Human... you are aware of what I am. I could sense the countless gods hiding within your shadows; that is why I am here.』
’It must be talking about the gods observing me.
’You came to me because of the gods? Does that have anything to do with saying I have the blood of the gods?’
『You ask quite a lot of questions, human. No, I came here because you are the only one I can trust right now. I need your help.』
Before Jared could reply, the dragon rushed out of the bushes.
Jared was just about to attack; he was prepared for an ambush since the conversation began.
But alas, it was far from what he thought.
The dragon had collapsed before him.
