Reincarnated in the Royal Family with a Plunder System-Chapter 33: Getting an Understanding for the World
Chapter 33: Getting an Understanding for the World
It was the Goblinette, who was being pushed into the room by a worried maid.
Unlike earlier, the Goblinette was no longer so dirty. Now, she looked clean and proper. In fact, she looked like a petite exotic beauty. With cleanly braided hair, a nice hair band, and properly fitting clothing—she seemed well groomed.
She was quite pretty.
"What happened?" Ryan asked.
"Prince Ryan, Lady Seraphina. This... we maids wanted to ask what you wanted to do with her."
Ryan frowned. "What has she been doing all this time?"
"Um, Miss Kaelith assigned us maids to look after her but—there had been no further orders on what we were to do with her."
Seraphina watched silently.
Ryan went up to the Goblinette. She looked up at him worriedly with her yellow eyes. He ruffled her hair with a smile. She bit her lips in slight fear.
"Have you been eating good?" he asked.
The Goblinette just looked at him dumbly.
He turned to look at the maid.
"Yes, prince. We have been feeding her regularly with the same food that we eat. Sometimes, we also provided her with better food that even the maids are rarely given."
"Good job." Then, he wondered what he wanted to make her do. "Sis, any thoughts?"
"Why did you buy her anyway, you ass?"
"Well..."
"Idiot." She then looked at the maid. "Take the goblin into proper health care. Long term malnutrition leaves behind lingering issues—she looks too skinny after being here for more than a day. The food here should have made her somewhat more feral."
"Yeah," Ryan mirrored. "Get her healthcare."
Seraphina continued: "And don’t let others do everything for you, Ryan. Build loyalty in her for you, not the maids. Don’t be stupid."
"Yeah," Ryan mirrored. "Don’t be st–oh, you are talking to me."
"Well, it’s fine." She shooed the maid away with a gesture. "Just go do her healthcare for now, and also see if there are any potions on the market that can make her more intelligent."
"There are such things?"
Seraphina’s eyes twitched. "You are far too ignorant."
The maid bowed and brought the goblinette away with her. And once again, Ryan noticed, he had forgotten to give her a name. Well, I will do that later.
Then, Seraphina made him focus again. "Now that you got the gist of what your physical training is like, the next thing is education. Or better put—mental training."
"Elaborate!" he said, mimicking Lysandra.
"Knowledge is power. And as you know, you are ignorant and powerless. I want you to learn things more seriously now."
"No fucking way, sis. Physical training’s alright but I am not interested in study." He grinned. "I might act like a fool, but I am probably more knowledgeable than all of you ancient idiots from Mugen. I used to be part of a techno—"
"Shut up." Seraphina glared. "This is how you end up revealing things you shouldn’t."
Luckily, she had long covered everything with magic—so they were indeed safe here. But still, his habit of blurting everything out had to go.
"Now, Ryan. You might think the education we have here is inferior to ones you saw on Earth, but that’s not entirely true. You never knew what magic was. Just as we in Mugen has never truly experienced high technology."
"So you want me to learn knowledge regarding magic? Like general potion names, uses of different classes, social science, and the like? Then it’s fine."
"Yes."
Ryan stood up. "I will do that when I get some sort of photographic memory skill. For now, let me take a rest."
"Sit down. Habits make people—you are making a valid point that a super memory skill would make traditional learning useless, but it’s the habit that I want to build in you. Sit here and use the Bond to learn."
"Do I really have to?"
"Do you want to be looked down upon by the Prince of Flame?"
"No..."
"Then do it."
"I am not really motivated to study though."
"Ryan. Your motivation would not matter when a dragon is breathing down on your neck. It only cares about how you taste. When you spend one minute doing nothing, know that others will use that moment to surpass you.
"Do you want to be the useless prince all over again? What excuse will you use this time, now that you can no longer say ’I just did not have the talent’?"
"Sis, you are brutal. I just did not want to study traditionally... I am willing to study using skills."
"Build a habit of normal studying. That will never hurt you."
"Okay, I guess."
He took her hand and began reading her mind.
"Focus on one subject at a time."
"Which one?"
"For now, study the world. Your whole world is confined to the palace for now, I only understood that when I entered your mind. Now, use my mind to understand the world outside."
They had both never truly left the capital. But Seraphina had learned about the world outside extensively, while he was more or less ignorant. That needed fixing.
Ryan nodded and took her hand. Then, he closed his eyes—entering Seraphina’s mind through their Bond.
"Focus, breathe slowly."
He did just that.
Mugen came to his sight.
A sprawling land of mountains, forests, seas, and rivers surrounded by an endless ocean. This was the Continent of Mugen. The map was so wide, Ryan had to look for a few minutes in Seraphina’s mind before he found the Human Kingdom.
The Human Kingdom was just a small part of the Continent.
Humans were just an average species in the world. One among the myriad races. And the Human Kingdom itself was surrounded on three sides with a giant forest, and on one side with one of the most massive rivers in the entire continent.
The forest was called the Great Wilderness. It was a forest populated by giant races—races with monstrous size. Dragons, Titans, Boulder Demons, and many, many more. All giant enough to make humans feel like ants.
Ryan sweated on the Human Kingdom’s behalf. It was surrounded by absolutely deadly forces.
’Generally, are dragons of equal level only as strong as humans?’
’It depends. Dragons generally have stronger physical bodies, and some even have passive resistance to many elements, but one can’t really say an individual race is stronger than another race—as in, there will be individuals among dragons that are weaker than humans, and there will be individuals among ants that are stronger than dragons.’
’Aren’t you level 26, can you fight a dragon of the same level?’
’I can annihilate a Dragon of the same level.’
Ryan gulped.
There are no weak races, only weak individuals!
All races had some exceptional individuals that were a cut above the rest. But in the end, there was a line. There were strong races and weak races.
For example, the strongest human was the King, who was a publicly known Level 80. Whereas Dragons had more than a few past level 100.
Well, well.
Even then, these humans were fighting among themselves.
Ryan couldn’t help but find it a bit ironic.
The Great Wilderness was so full of powerful forces, humans were truly insignificant. But there were individuals among humans that terrified many of these powerful forces.
Not everyone was Level 100 even in the Great Wilderness, after all.
I want to be strong!
He wanted to be a strong figure in Mugen. Someone who was world renowned and feared by all; respected by all.
Seraphina nodded, pleased.
